  • In this study, we made WGS84 geoidal height model from GPS measurements for bench marks and calculated geoidal height of B.Ms which were selected check points using the hi-linear, trend surface fitting and triangulation interpolation method. From these, the interpolation accuracy was studied. Also, we tried to study accuracy of height transformation by making up orthometric height with latitude and longitude on Bessel ellipsoid for bench marks which were calculated by applying transformation parameters that were got GPS measurements for precise primary control stations. As a result of this study, the WGS84 geoidal height and orthometric height could be determined as a deviation value of 20 cm.

  • We consider several methods to approximate option prices with correction terms to the Black-Scholes option price. These methods are able to compute option prices from various risk-neutral distributions using relatively small data and simple computation. In this paper, we compare the performance of Edgeworth expansion, A-type and C-type Gram-Charlier expansions, a method of using Normal inverse gaussian distribution, and an asymptotic method of using nonlinear regression through simulation experiments and real KOSPI200 option data. We assume the variance gamma model in the simulation experiment, which has a closed-form solution for the option price among the pure jump $L{\acute{e}}vy$ processes. As a result, we found that methods to approximate an option price directly from the approximate price formula are better than methods to approximate option prices through the approximate risk-neutral density function. The method to approximate option prices by nonlinear regression showed relatively better performance among those compared.

  • Accurate modal identification analysis is required to reasonably perform a seismic qualification of safety-related electric equipment installed in nuclear power plants (NPPs). This study evaluates a variation of the modal properties of an electric equipment cabinet structure in NPPs according to the excitation levels. For the study, an actual electric equipment cabinet was selected as a specimen and was dynamically tested by using a portable exciter in accordance with the level of input vibration energy. Tests were classified into two sets: with-door cases, and without-door cases. Frequency response functions were computed from the signals of the acceleration responses and input motions measured from the vibration tests. A polynomial curve fitting algorithm was used to extract the modal properties from the frequency response functions. This study reviews the variation of the modal properties according to the variation of the excitation levels. The results of the study show that the modal frequencies and the modal dampings of the object specimen varies nonlinearly according to the excitation level of the test motion. Attaching the door increases the modal damping of the cabinet.

  • This paper deals with the braking dynamic behavior of diesel electric locomotive pulling domestic cargo and passenger vehicles. Friction coefficient, pneumatic pressure, and running resistance affecting the braking system were tested. For the friction coefficient, the Dynamo test was performed with reference to UIC 541-4. The results are analyzed by multivariate regression and the relationship between braking force and ititial velocity is presented. The pneumatic pressure were classified into service braking and emergency braking. In order to reflect the characteristics of the brake valve and piping, the pressure rising over time was measured in the vehicle. In order to reflect the external force acting on the vehicle, we carried out the test of EN 14067-4 and presented the second order polynomial formula on a running resistance. The running resistance test results were compared with other countries. The dynamic behavior of a diesel electric locomotive running on a straight flat track based on vehicle resources, friction coefficient, braking pressure, and running resistance is simulated using the time integration presented in EN 14531-1. The simulation results were compared and verified with the vehicle braking test results. The results of this study can be used to analyze the dynamic braking behavior of a train. Also, it is expected that various parameters affecting braking in vehicle design can be analyzed and used as basic data for braking performance improvement.

  • A phthalocyanine reactive dye was applied to nylon fibers to study the effects of the temperature and pH on % exhaustion and fixation. In addition, appropriate predictable empirical models, relatively new approaches in dyeing process, were developed incorporating interactions effects of temperature and pH for predicting the both % exhaustion and fixation. The significance of the mathematical model developed was ascertained using Excel regression (solver) analysis module. A very high correlation coefficient was obtained ($R^2=0.9895$ for % exhaustion, $R^2=0.9932$ for fixation) for the model which shows prominent prediction capacity of the model for the unknown conditions. The predictable polynomial equations developed from the Experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) statistical concepts.

  • As the Jamsu-bridge and the floodplains of the Han River can be flooded during the rainy season, the exact prediction of the peak flood time is very important for mitigation of flood hazard. This study analyzes the effect of outflow of Paldang Dam and tide of Yellow Sea on the Han River. A target area is from the Paldang dam to Jeonryu gauging station. Water level of Jeonryu as a downstream boundary condition was estimated through multi linear regression analysis with outflow of Paldang dam and tide level of Incheon, because it was influenced by both a tide of Yellow Sea and outflow of Paldang dam. In this study, Water Level Rising Travel Time of the Jamsu-bridge and some floodplains in the Han River are estimated. Also, The second order polynomial expressions for relationships of outflow of Paldang Dam and Water Level Rising Travel Time were developed considering the outflow of Paldang dam and tide of Yellow Sea.

  • The perovskite solar cell is an active part of research in renewable energy fields such as solar energy, wind, hydroelectric power, marine energy, bioenergy, and hydrogen energy to replace fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas, which will gradually disappear as power demand increases due to the increase in use of the Internet of Things and Virtual environments due to the 4th industrial revolution. The perovskite solar cell is a solar cell device using an organic-inorganic hybrid material having a perovskite structure, and has advantages of replacing existing silicon solar cells with high efficiency, low cost solutions, and low temperature processes. In order to optimize the light absorption layer thin film predicted by the existing empirical method, reliability must be verified through device characteristics evaluation. However, since it costs a lot to evaluate the characteristics of the light-absorbing layer thin film device, the number of tests is limited. In order to solve this problem, the development and applicability of a clear and valid model using machine learning or artificial intelligence model as an auxiliary means for optimizing the light absorption layer thin film are considered infinite. In this study, to estimate the light absorption layer thin-film optimization of perovskite solar cells, the regression models of the support vector machine's linear kernel, R.B.F kernel, polynomial kernel, and sigmoid kernel were compared to verify the accuracy difference for each kernel function.

  • It is important to consider the effect of member size when estimating the ultimate strength of a concrete flexural member because the strength always decreases with an increase of member size. In this study, the size effect of a reinforced concrete (RC) beam was experimentally investigated. For this purpose, a series of beam specimens subjected to four-point loading were tested. More specifically, three different effective depth (d$\approx$15, 30, and 60 cm) reinforced concrete beams were tested to investigate the size effect. The shear-span to depth ratio (a/d=3) and thickness (20 cm) of the specimens were kept constant where the size effect in out-of-plane direction is not considered. The test results are curve fitted using least square method (LSM) to obtain parameters for the modified size effect law (MSEL). The analysis results show that the flexural compressive strength and the ultimate strain decrease as the specimen size increases. In the future study, since $\beta_1$ value suggested by design code and ultimate strain change with specimen size variation, a more detailed analysis should be performed. Finally, parameters for MSEL are also suggested.

  • Pharmaceutical compounds enter the water environment through the diverse pathways. Because their concentration in the water environment was frequently detected in the level of ppt to ppb, the monitoring system should be optimized as much as possible for finding appropriate management policies and technical solutions. One Factor At a Time (OFAT) approach approximating the response with a single variable has been preferred for the optimization of LC-MS/MS operational conditions. However, it is common that variables in analytical instruments are interdependent. Therefore, the best condition could be found by using the statistical optimization method changing multiple variables at a time. In this research, response surface analysis (RSA) was applied to the LC-MS/MS analysis of emerging antibiotic compound, sulfamethoxazole, for the best sensitivity. In the screening test, fragmentation energy and collision voltage were selected as independent variables. They were changed simultaneously for the statistical optimization and a polynomial equation was fit to the data set. The correlation coefficient, $R^2$ valuerepresented 0.9947 and the error between the predicted and observed value showed only 3.41% at the random condition, fragmentation energy of 60 and collision voltage of 17 eV. Therefore, it was concluded that the model derived by RSA successfully predict the response. The optimal conditions identified by the model were fragmentation energy of 116.6 and collision voltage of 10.9 eV. This RSA can be extensively utilized for optimizing conditions of solid-phase extraction and liquid chromatography.

  • This study was to evaluate the influential parameters such as intial Cs concentration, reaction temperature, contact time and pH variation of solution on Cs adsorption. Using the experimental data, adsorption kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamic properties were analyzed. The Cs ion adsorption of the zeolite X was effective in the range from pH 5 to 10 and reached equilibrium after 60 minutes. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms of Cs ion with the zeolite X was described well by the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities of Cs ion calculated from Langmuir isotherm model at 293~333 K were from 303.03 mg/g to 333.33 mg/g. It was found that thermodynamic property of Cs ion absorption on the zeolite X was spontaneous and endothermic reaction. The experimental data were fitted a second-order polynomial equation by the multiple regression analysis. The values of the dependent variable calculated by this best fitted model equation were in very good agreement with the experimentally obtained values.
