Three-Dimensional Microstructures Fabricated by Multi-Step Electrochemical Aluminum-Foil Etching (알루미늄 박판의 다단 전해식각 공정을 이용한 3 차원 마이크로 구조물의 제작)

  • We present a simple, cost-effective, and fast fabrication process for three-dimensional (3D) microstructures; this process is based on multi-step electrochemical etching of metal foils which facilitates the mass production of 3D microstructures. Compared to electroplating, this process maintains uniform and well-controlled material properties of the microstructure. In the experimental study, we perform single-step electrochemical etching of aluminum foils for the fabrication of 2D cantilever arrays. In the single-step etching, the depth etch rate and bias etch rate are measured as $1.50{\pm}0.10 {\mu}m/min$ and $0.77{\pm}0.03 {\mu}m/min$, respectively. Using the results of single-step etching, we perform two-step electrochemical etching for 3D microstructures with probe tips on cantilevers. The errors in height and lateral fabrication in the case of the fabricated structures are $15.5{\pm}5.8% $ and $3.3{\pm}0.9%$, respectively; the surface roughness is $37.4{\pm}9.6nm$.

  • 마모씨일과 발란스디스크에서의 로마킨효과가 3600rpm에서 운전되는 14단 터빈펌프의 동특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 1. 14단 터빈펌프 시제품 해석을 위한 유한요소 모델링 및 해석결과는 실험적 모드해석을 통하여 5% 이내의 오차로 검증되었다. 2. 마모링 및 밸런스 디스크의 로마킨효과를 고려하였을 때 시제품 펌프의 위험속도는 그렇지 않았을 때에 비하여 1차의 경우 약 50% 상승하나 고차의 경우는 그 영향이 미미하였다. 그런데 1차 위험속도가 운전속도와 밀접한 관련이 있으므로 설계시 로마킨효과는 반드시 고려되어야 한다. 3. 마모링 및 밸런스디스크의 설계변경에 의하여 시제품 펌프의 강성을 변화시킬 경우 위험속도가 크게 변화하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 이용하면 펌프의 심각한 구조변경 없이도 씨일의 적절한 설계에 의하여 임펠러 깃등의 고조화성분을 포함한 유해한 진동을 회피하는 동특성 설계가 가능하다. 향후 계속 연구사업으로서 씨일의 동특성 해석코드 개발 및 Wet Test를 통하여 본 연구결과를 검증하고 그 결과를 다단 터빈 펌프의 동특성 설게에 적용하여 고압 다단 터빈 펌프의 독자적 개발에 활용코자 한다.

Coherent detection scheme for DS-CDMA system with M-ary orthogofnal signaling (M진 직교 신호화를 적용한 DS-CDMA 시스템의 동기 검파 기법)

  • DS-CDMA system requeires a power-efficient transmission and reception scheme to increase capacity. In this paper, coherent detection of DS-CDMA system with M-ary orthogonal signaling is considered, and multistage decision-directed channel estimator is proposed. The multistage decision-directed channel estimator is based on the fact that better channel estimation can be obtained by using the final decisions of the detector with a conventional decision-directed channel estimator. In this scheme, symbol detector and channel estimator operate algernaely. by simulation, it is shown that the proposed method achieves performance gain capare to conventional method, specially at low signal to noise ratio over fast time-variant channel with diversity.

  • Several data from equipments on shipboard have been used for the safe navigation of ships. Due to the varieties of data, however, there may be difficulties to manage those data separately. Therefore, it can be effective to develop database for the integrated management of ship data. However, the database may become full soon because huge amount of data are saved continuously. To cope with this problem, this paper proposes multistage database which can always keep the database under full by means of sampling mechanism. To verify the functionality of the methodology, a prototype system has been implemented and tested.

  • A system design has been performed for a vacuum thrust 88 ton staged combustion cycle rocket engine. Previous research has been used to estimate the performance of the engine components. And the algorithm has been proposed to evaluate the converged engine system performance. The present methodolgy has been verified by comparing the published data for RD-180. The present work adopts the most of the previous KSLV-II engine heritage for both performance improvement and cost competitiveness. The combustion pressure has been decided as 12MPa considering manufacturing difficulty, cost and performance improvement, and as a result the vacuum specific impulse has increased by 23.4s.

  • Five stage enriching membrane system for separating combustion gas (air 90%, $CO_2$ 10%) was proposed and simulated by using Aspen plus and Excel. The system recovers 90% $CO_2$ of the combustion gas and the purity of $CO_2$ recovered was more than 99%. Optimization yields a reduction in membrane area as well as operating and capital cost. Retentate concentration and permeate pressure of each stage were chosen as optimization variables. By analyzing the optimization results, we derived several design guide lines for the enriching membrane system.

A study of mixing ratio of seal material for umbrella arch reinforcement for tunnelling (터널 강관 보강형 다단 그라우팅의 Seal재 배합비에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents the seal material mixing ratio of tunnel umbrella arch reinforcement method. Currently, there is no clear standard for the proper gelation time and curing time of the Seal material in Korea, and the quality control is also difficult because it cannot be verified. In response, the ratio of the mixture of the seal material was composed of four types of indoor experiments, and the amount of gelation time and bleed was checked. In addition, a non-cart penetration test confirmed the curing time and compared the ratio of each combination. Further experiments on W/C 120% identified the effect of mixing speed and time on the seal material. A total of three field experiments were conducted based on indoor experiments, and the size and strength of bulb formation were compared by checking the curing time of the specimen and main injection. Comparisons show that the lower W/C, the stronger the strength, the larger the size of the bulb, and the faster the hardening time appears. Based on the results of the gelation time and curing time, it was deemed that the mixing ratio of W/C 120% is most appropriate when applied to the actual site.

  • Ultra-high-strength steels (UHSSs) are widely used for lightweight automobile parts, and the control of springback is very important in sheet-metal forming. The object of this study is to verify the effects of multi-stage forming process parameters for U-channel-type automobile parts made of UHSS. Finite element analysis is carried out to predict the formability and springback. The main parameters considered for the multi-stage forming process are the die angle, die radius, and punch-forming direction. It is shown that multi-stage forming is very effective for reducing springback, and that a small punch-forming angle and die radius reduce springback, whereas the die angle does not have a large effect.

An Analytical Study on the Structural Performance Evaluation of the Multistage Overturing Movable Gate (다단전도방식 가동보의 구조성능 평가를 위한 해석적 연구)

  • Numerous water gates have been constructed and are under construction for the control of water level because, due to the topographical characteristics of mountainous area, many small size rivers are developed in Korean peninsula. Among the water gates, movable water gates are more efficient to control water level than the fixed water gates. By the field application of the movable water gates, many problems associated with the fixed water gates have been mitigated. The problems include the bottom water pollution, the change of habitats for the riparian organisms, etc. This is the reason to increase the field application of movable water gates. In the paper we present the result of analytical investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of multistage overturning movable water gate which is one of the movable water gates. In the analytical investigations, the finite element analysis on the constructed water gate has been conducted for illustration purposes and it was found that the multistage movable water gate is much better than the fixed and/or existing movable water gates in the point of structural and environmental performances.

Seepage-induced Face Stability of n Tunnel with Steel Pipe-reinforced Multistep Grouting (강관 다단 그라우팅으로 보강된 터널의 침투수력을 고려한 막장 안정성 검토)

  • Tunneling in difficult geological conditions is often inevitable especially in urban areas. Ground improvement and reinforcement techniques are often required to guarantee safe tunnel excavations and/or to prevent damage to adjacent structures. The steel pipe-reinforced multistep grouting method has been recently applied to tunnel sites in Korea as an auxiliary technique. In this study, the face stability with steel pipe-reinforced multistep grouting was evaluated emphasizing the effect of seepage forces. The study revealed that the influence of the steel pipe-reinforced multistep grouting on the support pressure in dry condition is not significant while there is relatively a large amount of reduction in seepage forces by adopting the technique in saturated condition. The effect of the anisotropy of permeability on the seepage force acting on the tunnel face was also estimated by conducting the coupled analysis. It was found that a higher horizontal permeability compared with the vertical one causes reduction in the seepage farce acting on the tunnel face.
