Combustion Characteristics of Technology Demonstration Model for Staged Combustion Cycle Engine (다단연소사이클 엔진 시스템 기술검증시제 연소성능 평가)

  • High performance upper stage engine is necessary for space launch vehicles of geostationary orbit, and staged combustion cycle engine is suitable due to high specific impulse. Technology demonstration model for 9 tonf class staged combustion cycle engine, which is consisted of turbopump, preburner, combustion chamber and supply system, was assembled, and hot-firing test was conducted for three seconds in Upper-stage Engine Test Facility of Naro Space Center. Ignition, combustion and shut down of engine system was performed normally, and its performance parameters were evaluated.

Comparison of Color Quality, Winter Color, and Spring Green-up among Major Turfgrasses Grown under Three Different Soil Systems (세 종류 잔디지반 구조에서 주요 초종의 엽색품질, 동절기 색상 및 이른 봄 녹화 특성비교)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the visual turfgrass's color quality, winter color, and spring green-up under three different soil systems and to make a practical use for sports turf design and construction. Several turfgrasses were evaluated in multi-layer, USGA and mono-layer systems. Turfgrass entries in the study comprised of 3 cultivars from Korean lawngrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.) of typical warm-season grass (WSG) and 3 blends and 3 mixtures from Kentucky bluegrass (KB, Poa pratensis L.), perennial ryegrass (PR, Lolium perenne L.), and tall fescue (TF, Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) of cool-season grass (CSG). Significant differences were observed in the turfgrass's color quality, winter color, and spring green-up in the study. Seasonal variation of visual turf color greatly occurred according to soil systems and turfgrasses. Multi-layer and USGA systems were highly associated with better visual color ratings, as compared with mono-layer system. Regardless of soil system, visual turf color in all entries was better from spring to fall than in winter. Great color differences were observed during a period of early December to early spring. CSG produced a better color quality over WSG in any soil system. Overall color ratings for CSG were KB > PR > Mixtures > TF. As for a winter color, its ranking was USGA > multi-layer > mono-layer system. No difference was found in winter among cultivars of Korean lawngrass, being completely brown, but great differences among CSG. Rated best for winter color was PR, followed by CSG mixtures, KB and finally TF in order. It was generally conceded that fast green-up in spring was greatly related with multi-layer over mono-layer system and also CSG over WSG. Among CSG, TF had a fastest green-up. PR was also fast in green-up, but poor in color uniformity. KB, however, was the slowest due to shallow rooting system, when compared with other CSGs. These results demonstrate color differences were greatly variable according to soil systems and also among turfgrass species. A precise decision should be made in selecting turfgrass species and soil system. Multi-layer and USGA systems were considered as the suitable one for turfgrass color quality, winter color and spring green-up. It is a great necessity to combine proper soil system, right turfgrass species, and appropriate mixing rates by a concept-oriented approach, when establishing garden, parks, soccer field, and golf courses and so on.

A Stable Multilevel Partitioning Algorithm for VLSI Circuit Designs Using Adaptive Connectivity Threshold (가변적인 연결도 임계치 설정에 의한 대규모 집적회로 설계에서의 안정적인 다단 분할 방법)

  • This paper presents a new efficient and stable multilevel partitioning algorithm for VLSI circuit design. The performance of multilevel partitioning algorithms that are proposed to enhance the performance of previous iterative-improvement partitioning algorithms for large scale circuits, depend on choice of construction methods for partition hierarchy. As the most of previous multilevel partitioning algorithms forces experimental constraints on the process of hierarchy construction, the stability of their performances goes down. The lack of stability causes the large variation of partition results during multiple runs. In this paper, we minimize the use of experimental constraints and propose a new method for constructing partition hierarchy. The proposed method clusters the cells with the connection status of the circuit. After constructing the partition hierarchy, a partition improvement algorithm, HYIP$^{[11]}$ using hybrid bucket structure, unclusters the hierachy to get partition results. The experimental results on ACM/SIGDA benchmark circuits show improvement up to 10-40% in minimum outsize over the previous algorithm $^{[3] [4] [5] [8] [10]}$. Also our technique outperforms ML$^{[10]}$ represented multilevel partition method by about 5% and 20% for minimum and average custsize, respectively. In addition, the results of our algorithm with 10 runs are better than ML algorithm with 100 runs.

  • In this paper, we propose maximum likelihood (ML) decision feedback channel estimation (DFCE) for M-ary orthogonal modulation in direct sequence/code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems. The proposed DFCE uses the maximum combiner output in a RAKE receiver as decision feedback information, enabling M-ary orthogonal signals to be demodulated coherently and a RAKE receiver to use a em maximal ration combining (MRC) scheme. However, the performance of the proposed DFCE in the multiuser environment is severely degraded due to multiple access interference (MAI). To overcome this problem, a multistage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) scheme is combined with the proposed DFCE for multiuser environments. Accurate knowledge of the channel coefficient estimated by the proposed DFCE is used to regenerate the signal of each user for the multistage PIC scheme. According to the results of our simulations, the performance of coherent demodulation using the proposed system is significantly improved in comparison with conventional noncoherent demodulation.

케로신/액체산소 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진용 산화제 과잉 예연소기 기술

  • 터보펌프 구동에 사용된 가스발생기 생성가스를 연소기로 공급하여 주추력 발생에 사용하는 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진은 고추력을 요하는 우주 발사체에 널리 사용되고 있다. 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진에 사용되는 가스발생기를 예연소기라 부르며 케로신과 액체산소를 추진제로 하는 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진에는 산화제 과잉 예연소기가 사용된다. 예연소기는 터보펌프 구동을 목적으로 하기 때문에 예연소기 생성가스의 횡단면 온도분포는 터빈에 의해 제한되는 온도범위 내에서 균일하여야 하며 넓은 운전영역에서 안정적인 연소가 이루어져야 한다. 산화제 과잉 예연소기는 모든 추진제가 혼합헤드를 통해 분사되는 방식과 추진제를 혼합헤드와 연소실로 나누어 공급하는 방식이 있다. 기술검증을 위해 산화제 일부와 연료를 혼합헤드를 통해 연소실에 공급하여 1차 연소시키고 나머지 산화제를 연소실 냉각채널을 거쳐 연소실 중앙의 분사공을 통해 연소실로 주입하여 기화시키는 형태로 최종적으로 연소압 20MPa, 혼합비 60에서 작동하는 산화제 과잉 예연소기를 설계하여 연소시험을 수행하였다. 혼합헤드에는 별도의 점화용 분사기 없이 전체 연료 분사기를 통해 점화용 연료인 TEA/TEB 혼합물을 분사하여 점화하였다. 추진제를 2단으로 공급할 수 있도록 고안된 가압식 연소시험 설비에서 10회, 누적 60초 이상의 연소시험이 성공적으로 수행되었다. 연소시험결과 넓은 작동영역에서 안정적 연소특성과 생성가스 온도 분포의 균일성을 확인할 수 있었다. 고온 고압의 산화제 과잉 예연소기 기술 확보를 통해 케로신/액체산소 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진 개발을 위한 기술적 기반을 마련하였다.

  • In this paper the more accurate models than any other ones so far have been proposed for the performance evaluation of single-buffered banyan-type Multistage Interconnection Networks(MINs)'s under nonuniform traffic condition is obtained. Small clock cycle instead of big clock cycle is used. The accuracy of proposed models are conformed by comparing with the results from simulation.

  • 본 논문에서는 MAI 제거 기법으로서 다단병렬간섭제거기 (MPIC : Multistage Parallel Interference Canceller) 와 부분 다단병렬간섭제거기 (partial MPIC) 및 다치진폭계수를 이용한 MPIC를 채용한 비동기 (asynchronous) DS-CDMA/M-ary QAM 시스템의 성능 개선을 이론적으로 분석하고 이를 검증하기 위한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.연구결과에서 MPIC, partial MPIC 및 다치진폭계수를 이용한 MPIC를 실제 시스템에 적용하여 구현할 경우 BER 성능, 채널용량 개선, 신호처리 계산량 및 하드웨어 복잡도 사이에 타협 (trade-off) 이 필요하다.

Study on the Radial Diffuser of Multistage High Pressure Pump (고압 다단 펌프의 레이디얼 디퓨저에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, a high-pressure multistage pump used in the combined cycle power plants is analyzed. The pump performance characteristics (differential head and efficiency) are numerically analyzed for different shapes of the radial diffuser. The design variables selected for the radial diffuser are, number of vanes, diameter ratio ($D_4/D_3$), return channel outlet angle(${\alpha}_6$), and pressure recovery factor ($C_p$). The numerical analysis results showed that the differential head and efficiency are the highest when the diameter ratio is the highest. Further, it was observed that the differential head was lower when the return channel outlet angle was $60^{\circ}$ than when it was $90^{\circ}$, because of pre-swirl at the diffuser outlet.

An Experimental Study of the Performance Characteristics on a Multi-Stage Micro Turbine with Various Stages (다단 마이크로터빈에서 단수 변화에 따른 터빈의 성능에 관한 실험적연구)

  • An experimental study on an axial-type micro turbine which consists of maximum 6 stages is conducted to measure aerodynamic characteristics on each stage. This turbine has a 2.0 flow coefficient, 3.25 loading coefficient and 25.8mm mean diameter. The solidity of stators and rotors is within a 0.67~0.75, and the off-design performance is measured by changing the load after adjusting the mass flowrate and the total pressure to constant at inlet. A maximum specific output power of 2kW/kg/sec is obtained in one stage, but the increment of the specific output power with increasing stages is alleviated. In case of torque, the increment of the torque maintains to constant at low RPM region, but its increment become dull at high RPM region. The efficiency of the micro turbine becomes low because the tip gap effect is great due to the small blade, but it could be improved by increasing the stages.
