Experimental Study of Inlet/Outlet Flow Characteristics in Tube-side of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (원통-다관형 열교환기의 다관측 입출구 유동 특성의 실험적 연구)

  • The inlet/outlet flow in the tube-side of the shell and tube heat exchanger was experimentally measured to investigate the effect of the porous baffle on uniform flow distribution. A 1/3rd scale-downed model of a heat exchanger was used and particle image velocimetry was applied for measuring the instantaneous velocity vector fields. The absolute errors in the flow rate were calculated and compared for the tube-side with and without the porous baffle, by varying the flow rate from 60 to 90 LPM. The results revealed that the porous baffle can improve flow uniformity and reduce the absolute error in the flow rate of the model with the baffle by about 74%, compared to that without the baffle. This result can be used for improving the performance and design of the shell and tube heat exchanger.

  • 게임이나 가상 현실에서의 대화형 처리에서는 다관절체의 동작 생성을 실시간에 비교적 사실적으로 처리되어야 할 필요성이 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 복잡한 계산이나 선형 시스템의 풀이 과정이 불필요한, 다관절체의 동작을 비교적 사실적으로 간단하고, 빠르게 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 다관절체의 동역학적 움직임과 기하학적 제약 조건들을 이용하여, 실제와 유사한 동작을 빠르게 생성할 수 있음을 보인다. 특히, 대화형 시스템에서는 사용자의 요구에 실시간으로 응답을 줄 수 있고, 환경을 설정하는 물리량들과 가상 공간의 환경 요인들을 다양하게 변화시키더라도 적응적으로 반응하는 안정적인 동작을 생성할 수 있다.

  • The pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were measured at room temperature in CFB heat exchanger with multiple vertical tubes. Also the circulation rate of solid particles was measured. The theoretical model for predicting heat transfer coefficient using the solid flowrate was developed in this study. The model predictions were compared with the measured heat transfer coefficient to show relatively good agreement.

  • In interactive environments including computer games and virtual reality applications, we have increased need for interactive control of articulated body motions. Recently, physically based methods including constrained dynamics techniques are introduced to this area, in order to produce more realistic animation sequences. However, they are hard to achieve real-time control of articulated bodies, due to their heavy computations. In this paper, we present a procedural method for interactive animation of articulated bodies. In our method, each object of the constrained body is first moved according to their physical properties and external forces, without considering any constraints. Then, the locations of objects are adjusted to satisfy given constraints. Through adapting this two-stage approach, we have avoided the solving of large linear systems of equations, to finally achieve the interactive animation of articulated bodies. We also present a few example sequences of animations, which are interactively generated on PC platforms. This method can be easily applied to character animations in virtual environments.

The theoretical model for predicting heat transfer coefficient was developed in this study. The model predictions were compared with the measured heat transfer coefficient to show relatively good agreement between them.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the heat transfer characteristics of combustion gas or a mixture fuel of LFG and LNG as compared LFG, LNG A Pilot combustion system is constructed. Tube bundle type heat exchangers with vertical and horizontal baffles are used, and the experiment is carried out for different operating conditions, the heating value, the concentration of methane (44.5%, 54.5%). The results show that the Nusselt number of LNG is higher than that of LFG at the same Reynolds number, and in case LFG, the Nusselt number of the mixture of LFG and LNG is larger than that of LFG alone. Therefore, heat transfer is improved by using LFG that is added to LNG pertinently, if and instability of LFG supply will be relaxed.

  • The propose of study analyze a TEMA(Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association) E shell and tube heat exchanger performance with 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 baffles and 16, 20 tubes. In this investigate measured a variation of the heat exchanger cooling capacity change within each number of baffle and tube number and determined optimal number of baffle. designs for industry applications are optimized using the analysis of test results.

  • The flow pattern inside the inlet chamber of the tube side is one of the key parameters influencing on the performances of the shell-and-tube type of heat exchangers(STHE). In order to improve the flow distribution, the baffle shaped as the porous plate is installed in the inlet chambers. In the present study, numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the flow features of the tube side of the STHE in sense of the hydraulic performances. The flow fields have been analysed by the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes solvers with the proper turbulent models. Computational domain is ranged in the whole of the tube side of the STHE. The numerical results showed that the presence of the baffles improves the redistribution of the flow injecting to the tube bundels. The good agreements of the numerical results with the experimental results of PIV measurements have been shown for the validation of the numerical methods adopted in the present papers.
