To do this, the researcher conducts a non-face-to-face survey by creating five questions under the following five categories: The importance and necessity of communicative competence, students and educators of communicative competence classes, contents and methods of curriculum and teaching and learning, communicative competence and writing skills and operation of extracurricular programs. This researcher has been teaching basic education even before the communication skills curriculum was created in college, now, in a situation where communication skills have become selective education, it is intended to grasp the perception of college students about communication skills for first graders. This study attempted to analyze the survey area in more depth through group FGI after conducting an online survey by dividing it into several items. As a result, students felt that communication skills became motktkre important through COVID-19. Among the bottom five communication skills, speaking skills were found to be the most important, reading ability was recognized as the least important. On the other hand, there was a strong hope to know about the level of communication ability, type of communication, and method of communication about oneself. In addition, they recognized that communication skills should be learned in their first year of college, and hoped to be operated at all times as a non-disciplinary program. In particular, in the bottom five areas of communication skills, the expectations and actual hopes for speaking skills were the highest compared to the rest, and in terms of teaching and learning methods, they wanted to improve their skills through feedback and practice rather than theory. These research results have great implications for setting the direction of operation of classes, such as the content and method of classes in communication skills, in the future.

  • In this study, we analyzed the longitudinal effect of participation in an overseas exchange student program on foreign language competence, intercultural competence, and personal development. Data were collected over three time points from the pre-, post-, and post-post tests with Korean college students who participated in an overseas exchange program. Hierarchical linear model was conducted to examine whether the change of participation effects exists over time and which predictors affected outcomes. The results of unconditional growth model showed that foreign language competence, cultural competence, and personal development showed statistically significant differences in their initial status prior to departure to participate in an overseas program as well as their growth rate. The results of conditional growth model showed that parents' level of education and overseas experiences before college affected the initial status of foreign language competence, and gender and overseas experience before college affected those of cultural competence as well as personal development. In case of growth rate, overseas experience before college and destination country/region affected foreign language competence, and interactions between Korean participating students and local students affected cultural competence. For personal development, only overseas experiences before college affected its growth rate. Lastly, relevant discussion and implications were provided.

  • This study explores variations in preferences for human and AI agents within the medical and financial services. Study 1 investigates whether there are preferential disparities between human and AI agents across these service domains. It finds that human agents are favored over AI agents in medical services, while AI agents receive greater preference in the financial services. Study 2 delves into the underlying reasons for the preference differentials between human and AI agents by assessing the significance of certain capabilities as perceived by users in each domain. The findings reveal a mediating role of perceived empathy importance in the effect of service domains on human-AI preference. Furthermore, perceived empathy is deemed a more critical capability by users for preferring human over AI agents across both service domains compared to other capabilities such as experience and agency. This research is noteworthy for elucidating the variances in preferences for human and AI agents across medical and financial services and the rationale behind these differences. It enhances our theoretical comprehension of the pivotal factors influencing preferences for human and AI agents, underscoring the significance of human experiential capabilities like empathy.
