  • This study is a study on the development of board games using local cultural contents. As a prior study related to this study, basic research on board game development, research on cultural products based on cultural heritage, and storytelling development research using local cultural and tourism resources were considered. Among them, for the main purpose of board games and development process, discussions were conducted on the research methodology of Lee Dae-woong and Oh Seung-taek (2004). As a result, it was possible to successfully proceed with planning meetings, proposal preparation, board game design, board game 3D graphic production process, and prototype development. What is peculiar is that characters (dried persimmons, strawberries, jujube, and salted seafood) containing Nonsan's unique regional characteristics were searched and utilized. In addition, major cultural heritages such as Donamseowon Confucian Academy and Gwanchoksa Temple, designated as Nonsan-si cultural properties, were combined with important treasure hunt contents of board games to enhance interest and education at the same time. The theme of this paper, Nonsan, Finding Lost Treasure, is a new educational alternative that can solve the problems of computer games, and has the advantage of having the nature of community leisure play, not individual play. Based on this board game development research in the future, we intend to expect the results of game production using cultural elements from other regions.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the meaning of the experience of robot play in the free play time of 5-year-old children in daycare centers with the experience of 5-year-old children in the structural group activities of teachers. To this end, a total of 32 children (15 in the experimental group and 17 in the comparative group) aged 5 were conducted for 1 hour three times a week for 10 weeks. Robots were supported as toys in the classroom of the experimental group, and children in the comparative group freely experienced robot exploration and play during free play time, and children in the comparative group learned the robot's functions and performed structural group activities based on the 2019 Revised Nuri Curriculum national-level curriculum. As a result of analyzing the difference between pre-test and post-test, the use of robots in free play showed a significant effect in creativity and fluency of children, and a significant effect in expression of pleasure in playability. These results suggest that robots are meaningful as play materials in early childhood education, which aims for infant-led free play, and that it is worth studying the robot experiences of children in these free situations in the future.

In order to examine the difference in play experience between the two groups, the score data before and after play support was collected using the sequential thinking test tool, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0 program to perform ANCOVA (Covariance Analysis). As a result, the experimental group that experienced robot-based play through picture book appreciation showed significant improvement in the total score of sequential thinking and the sub-areas of dynamics, behavior, and intention compared to the control group. The results of this study are valuable as a play study to discover the value of robots as a creative play medium led by young children and to promote sequential thinking ability, which is emphasized as the capacity of future society.

The selection of the proper infant's App is difficult since the infants' App should be useful, safe and helpful for the development of their intelligence. In this research, we design the useful infant's App for the development of their intelligence by applying the AI technology for increasing the learning effect in order to satisfy the characteristics of the infants' needs. A proposed App is the collection of interesting games for infants such as picture puzzle game, coloring shapes game, pasting stickers game, and fake mobile phone feature enables them to play interesting phone game. Furthermore, the proposed App is also designed to collect and analyze the log information generated while they are playing games, share and compare with other infants' log information to increase the learning effect. After then, it figures out and learns their game tendency, intelligibility, workmanship, and apply them to the next game in order to increase their interests and concentration of the game.

A questionnaire was used, which asked the participants to express play metaphorically and provide reasons for their choices. The collected data were analyzed using a systematic metaphorical analysis approach. The results revealed that the metaphorical expressions of pre-service early childhood teachers regarding play-oriented education were categorized as instructional methods being the most prominent, followed by environment, enjoyment/happiness, autonomy, growth and development, interactive relationships, child-directedness, the essence of life, interest, creativity, potential, variability, everyday life, ambiguity of beginnings and endings, naturalness, and others. Based on these findings, it is expected that one can attain insights regarding the methods of training pre-service early childhood teachers on how to implement play-centered education in the revised Nuri curriculum.
