The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing elderly care burden of a working family. Methods: A descriptive correlational design was used. Participants was 153 family member of elderly at five nursing facilities. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires from July to October 2019. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis with the SPSS WIN 25.0 program. Analysis result, explaining 20,8% of the variance, which indicated that subjects for giving care, monthly admission fee, burden of expenses, and satisfaction for fee service were significant predictors of working family's care burden. Various individual characteristics significantly influenced working family's care burden in aspects of emotional, social, economical, and physical burdens. Therefore, interventions to decrease working family's care burden must focus on their individual factors.

This study examined the relationship between resilience, emotional work, and attitudes toward caregivers caring for the elderly. Data collection was conducted from November 01, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 21.0 program. The attitudes toward caring for geriatric subjects were $3.56{\pm}.90points$ out of 5, $3.23{\pm}.74points$ out of 5 for emotional work, and $3.94{\pm}.40points$ out of 5 for resilience. The attitudes toward caring for geriatric patients were related to resilience (r= .294, p<.001). Resilience (${\beta}=.360$, p= .002) and work type (${\beta}=-.282$, p= .001) had a significant effect on the attitudes toward caring for the elderly (F=7.5355, p<.001). The explanatory power of these variables was 15.6%. The results of this study suggest that interventions may be necessary to improve the attitudes of the caregiver toward caring for the elderly.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the depression of the main caregivers for the elderly in Korea by using a descriptive survey study. A total of two hundred eight participants who admitted at five nursing homes located in G city were analyzed using SPSS 25.0. There was a significant difference in depression according to general characteristics: higher level in extended family in family type. Participants showed significantly higher level of depression in cases of less than five years' hospitalization periods or Decision maker of elderly's hospitalization high level burden for expenses among caring related characteristics. They also had higher level of depression in cases of high level burden for expenses. less than 60 minute in commuting time, or non-satisfaction for nursing home service among caring related characteristics. Although we need more evidences through future studies, the findings from this study will be useful in the development of nursing intervention program for reducing the depression of the main caregivers for elderly population.

The study was conducted from September to December, 2018. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires of 59 student nurses. The data were analyzed by frequencies and paired t-test using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, elderly care attitude and dementia communication behavior were significantly increased after the geriatric nursing practice compaired to before the geriatric nursing practice. As South Korea enters the realm of an super-aging society, the demand for elderly welfare services has been steadily rising. However, the current shortage of welfare personnel has emerged as a social issue. To address this challenge, there is active research underway on elderly care robots designed to mitigate the social isolation of the elderly and provide emergency contact capabilities in critical situations. Nonetheless, these functionalities require direct user contact, which represents a limitation of conventional elderly care robots. In this paper, we propose a solution to overcome these challenges by introducing a care robot system capable of interacting with users without the need for direct physical contact. This system leverages commercialized elderly care robots and cameras. We have equipped the care robot with an edge device that incorporates facial expression recognition and action recognition models. The models were trained and validated using public available data. Experimental results demonstrate high accuracy rates, with facial expression recognition achieving 96.5% accuracy and action recognition reaching 90.9%. Furthermore, the inference times for these processes are 50ms and 350ms, respectively. These findings affirm that our proposed system offers efficient and accurate facial and action recognition, enabling seamless interaction even in non-contact situations.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge and attitude toward the elderly, aging anxiety, and attitude toward caring the elderly and to identify influencing factors of attitude toward caring the elderly in nursing students. Participants were 227 nursing students from three college of nursing in D-city and K region. Data was collected by structured questionnaire on subjects' characteristics, knowledge toward the elderly, attitude toward the elderly, aging anxiety, and attitude toward caring the elderly. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. The average score of knowledge, aging anxiety, attitude toward the elderly, and attitude toward caring the elderly of participants were 14.78, 2.88, 4.09, 5.16. Factors significantly affecting attitude toward caring the elderly were attitude toward the elderly, preference of caring for the elderly, aging anxiety, favorable type to be support as a parent. Explanatory power of the model was 24.7%. The results of this study suggest that interventions may be necessary to improve attitude toward caring the elderly among nursing students. It is essential to develop the strategy of providing positive experience with the elderly for nursing students as well as geriatric nursing education.
This study intended to examine the willingness to use as well as necessary functions for ICT-based care assistance devices in older adults living alone. A total of 241 older adults living alone from a city participated in the study. Study results show that many older adults living alone are willing to use ICT-based care assistance devices at their home and the functions of care assistance devices that they perceived as necessary were diverse. In addition, there were differences in perception of functional necessity by socio-demographics and medical and functional characteristics of older adults living alone. In particular, there were significant differences in the functions perceived as necessary according to the presence of osteoporosis, depression, insomnia, and limitations in daily activities. Our study findings suggest that the functions of ICT-based care devices should be developed in various ways in order to help healthy aging in place. Findings also imply that it is necessary to provide individualized services and customized care assistance devices according to individual's medical and functional characteristics and needs.
This study was conducted to identify and compare the needs of the integrated by local government, and to provide basic data for the provision of integrated care services. This is a secondary data analysis study using data from 10,299 elderly people living in 17 local governments who participated in the '2017 National Survey on the Aged People in Korea'. The difference in medical needs, daily living support needs, and social activity support needs were 2.4, 6.0, and 2.0 times higher in the highest regions than in the lowest regions. In addition, the size of the medical needs group, welfare needs group, and integrated care needs group varied by region. Through this study, it was confirmed that the level of integrated care needs varied by region. Therefore, in order to efficiently provide the services at the national level, it is necessary to accurately assess the needs of the aged in each local government, and accordingly, prioritize and identify available resources within the care service and appropriate allocation.
The aim of this study was to identify the relationship of caregiving appraisal and family function among senile dementia patients' families using in-home services for the Long-Term Care Insurance(LTCI). The participants were 121 family caregivers of senile dementia patients using in-home services for the LTCI. The participants' mean age was $53.80{\pm}10.86years$, all middle-aged women(75.2%). When negative cognition's burden and neutral one's demand in their caregiving appraisal were low and positive cognition's satisfaction and mastery in their caregiving appraisal were high, emotional function in their family function was high. There is a need to develop nursing interventions for strengthening positive cognition's satisfaction and decreasing neutral one's demand in their caregiving appraisal to improve emotional function and communication of senile dementia patients' families.
