노인인구가 증가하면서 노인 건강관리를 비롯한 여러가지 복지대책이 중요한 사회적 관심사로 대두되고 있다. 그중에서도 치매노인의 관리 문제는 노인 복지 측면에서, 반드시 해결해야 할 최대의 과제로 떠오르고 있다. 그러나 외국에 비해 양로원 시설도 충분히 갖추어지지 못한 우리의 실정에서 이 치매노인을 위한 복지는 사실상 전무한 상태다. 이러한 가운데서 지난 1월 우리나라 최초로 서울시 북부노인종합복지관(서울시 노원구 하계동 중계 9단지 내)에서 치매탁로소를 열어, 치매노인이 있는 가정에 새로운 희망을 던져주고 있다. 서울시 거주 치매노인이면 누구나 이용할 수 있는 치매탁로소의 개소 의의와 이용방법을 소개한다.

노인의 피부는 노화로 말미암아 여러 가지 문제가 생길 수 있따. 그러나 적절하게 관리하지 못하여 여러 가지 피부 질환으로 고생하게 되는 경우가 많다. 노인에게 올 수 있는 피부 문제를 알고 대처하는 것이 중요하다. 흔히 노인들은 외모의 변화를 심각하게 고민하지만, 생명과 관련이 없는 현상이기 때문에 무관심하게 되고, 적절한 관리를 받을 기회를 놓쳐 심각한 피부 질환으로 진행되기도 한다. 노인들은 피부의 변화와 주름을 창피하거나 부끄럽게 생각하지 말고, 자신의 삶의 일부를 나타내는 행복의 선으로 받아들여야 한다. 또한 이를 성형수술이나 화장으로 감추려 하지 말고 적절한 관리를 통해 가능하다면 피부 노화가 느리게 올 수 있도록 관리하는 것이 중요하다. 노인에게서 흔한 피부 질환은 피부 소양증, 대상포진, 피부 건조증, 피부암 등이 있다.

For this study a sample of 205 people, 66 males and 139 females, over 65 years of age, residing in C-gu of S-si and utilizing senior centers, were selected, The objective of the study was to provide basic data for health promotion program development provided by health centers. A questionnaire was used to collect date on general characteristics, health status, social health status and utilization rate for health services. The instruments used in this study were the Lawton scale, to measure daily routine function, the MMSE-K developed by Folstein and modified to fit the Korea situation, for mental health status, and the CES-Dtool developed by Radloff, for emotional health status. the SPSS Window program was used to calculate percentages. Tests of significance were done using t-test and ANOVA. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify variables influencing the use of health services. The results are as follows : Of those utilizing senior citizen centers, 40.9% of males and 17.3% of the female thought they were healthy. The average score for IADL was 7.4. The daily routine of female respondents consisted of buying household articles and drugs, and other IADLs such as riding the bus or subway alone. These resulted in a higher score compared to males. For emotional health, 7.6% of the males reported depression compared to 21.6% of the females. For mental health, 48.5% of the males and 28.8% of the females were found to be in the group suspicious for dementia. On social health, 57.6% of the males and 62.6% of the females reported no intimate human relations. Of those older people who had close human relations, 52.5% of the males indicated a friend as the closest person and 53.8% of the females, their children. On use of health services, there was a significantly higher need for mobile medical care services treatment for those with lower education levels and status of window/widower. There was a significantly higher need for health exmination services for those with lower levels of exercise, greater satisfaction with sleep, higher levels of oral health care, and higher social contacts. In conclusion, there is a need to provide varied programs for the promotion of health, along with parallel resolution of social, psychological and economic issues. It is recommended that health services for elderly people provided by the health centers be implemented with full recognition of these characteristics and differences.

평균수명이 연장되고, 사회변화에 따른 핵가족화가 가속화 됨에 따라, "노인문제"는 결코 간과할 수 없는 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 이 노인문제는 과거 가족제도에 대한 향수 같은 것으로는 이제 해결될 수 없으며 사회적인 해결 방안이 모색되고 실현되어야 하는 것이 오늘의 현실이다. 그러나 이러한 심각성에도 불구하고 우리나라의 노인복지 현실은 전무한 상태라 해도 과언이 아니다. 이런 어려운 여건 속에서 작으나마 지역사회 노인들의 건강, 식사, 소일거리 등을 해결하기 위해 노력하는 곳이 있다. "사회복지법인 자선단 은천노인복지회 (회장 : 이벙만ㆍ동대문구 장안동)." 노인들의 어려운 일을 도와주고, 취업알선을 해주고 있는 이들의 활동을 소개한다.

This study conducted a questionnaire survey for some local senior populations in Jeonbuk province, Korea, and came to the following conclusions: This study analyzed possible differences in elders' oral health beliefs and oral health behaviors depending on their general characteristics. As a result, it was found that there were significant differences in their oral health beliefs depending upon their religion, academic career and oral health conditions. It was found that high oral health beliefs group showed more significant differences in 'toothbrushing' and 'diet control' than low oral health beliefs group(p < .05). It was found that active oral health behavior group had higher quality of life than inactive oral health behavior group(p < .05), and 'regular visit of dental clinic' was a critical determinant of life quality(p < .05).

The purpose of this study was to identify health behaviors of elderly with osteoarthritis across gender groups. Total of 1,654 age 65 over from the fifth Korean National health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) were selected. The data analysis was performed using the complex sampling function of SPSS version 20. Logistic regression analysis shows the difference of risk factors of osteoarthritis between men and women elderly people. Prevalence of osteoarthritis in men elderly was associated with drinking, education for osteoarthritis, and treatment of osteoarthritis whereas the factors in woman elderly were depression and muscle strengthen exercise. Most of the subjects had not the opportunity of education of the management of the osteoarthritis. These findings from the study are expected to promote the screening strategy for the aged at risk of osteoarthritis in the Korean community and enhance the effect of the nursing intervention for the elderly with osteoarthritis.

우리나라는 현재 65세 이상 인구가 전체 인구의 7.1%에 달하고 있으며 앞으로 계속 증가하여 2022년에는 14.3%로 고령화 사회에 접어들 것으로 여겨진다. 1998년 국민 건강영양조사에 의하면, 우리나라 노인은 영양취약집단으로 영양상 문제가 발견되었으며, 청장년기까지는 식생활의 부족시대를 지니고, 중년이후의 풍요로움을 누린 후 노년기를 맞고 있는 전체 인구 집단과 또 다른 문제를 보이고 있어 관리가 요구된다. 노인의 경우 여러 가지 신체기능의 변화와 사회생활의 변화로 영양요구량이 달라지고 있으며, 신체기능의 변화는 식품섭취에 영향을 주고 있어서 적절한 관리를 필요로 한다. 그래서 10월의 이달의 건강길라잡이에서는 첫째, 노년층의 영양 무제가 다른 연령층과 어떻게 다른가 이해하고 둘째, 노년기의 노화 현상이 노인들의 건강문제와 영양문제에 어떤 영향을 미칠 것인가 살펴보고 셋째, 일반적으로 노년기의 영양필요량이 청 · 장년기의 영양 필요량과 무엇이 다른가 이해한 후 마지막으로 노인의 식생활을 어떻게 계획할 것인가 알아보고자 한다.

65세 이상 노인은 퇴행성 질환과 지병으로 인한 합병증으로 고생하거나 심하면 사망에 이르기도 한다. 이를 예방하기 위해서는 뇌졸중, 치매, 순환기질환 등에 대한 검사를 정기적으로 받는 것이 좋다.

노인장기 요양보험제도가 시행된 지 2년이 흘렀다. 그동안 가족이 책임졌던 노인에 대한 장기요양을 국가와 사회가 부담함으로써 만성질환 및 노인성 질환으로 어려움을 겪는 노인과 가족들의 부담이 줄어들었다. 하지만 적지 않은 문제점도 드러나고 있다. 외국의 사례를 통해 우리나라 노인장기 요양보험제도의 현재와 미래를 그려보고자 한다.
