  • 고용노동부(장관 이재갑)는 지난해 12월 10일 한국서부발전(주) 태안발전소에서 20대 하청업체 비정규직 노동자(고(故) 김용균)의 컨베이어 협착 사망사고와 관련하여 태안발전소 사업장 전반에 대한 '특별안전보건감독'과 함께 유사 동종사고 예방을 위하여 발전 5사 본사 및 전국 12개 석탄발전소에 대한 '긴급안전점검'을 실시하고 그 결과를 발표하였다.

  • This study examines the effect of culinary employees' emotional labor on their emotional dissonance and turnover intentions and bow the emotional labor and emotional dissonance affect their turnover intentions and burnout to provide useful information and suggestions for the foodservice and hotel culinary training and on-site. The results are summarized as follows. First, as the emotional labor of workers such as representation of the act, conduct in-depth and emotional departure grew higher, they showed the higher perception of emotional dissonance. However, their spontaneous activities tended to decrease their emotional dissonance. Second, as the result of verifying the relationship between emotional dissonance and burnout, the higher emotional dissonance, the deeper burnout. Finally, the culinary workers' emotional dissonance influenced their turnover intention.

A Study on Emotional Labor and Burnout in Dental Hygienist (치과위생사의 감정노동과 소진에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of service education to the emotional labor of dental hygienists and influential factors for their job burnout. The subjects in this study were 155 dental hygienists, on whom a survey was conducted. The findings of the study were as follows: The respondents who ever received service education and were satisfied with that education were better at emotional regulation. After job burnout was classified into physical symptoms and psychological symptoms, a multiple regression analysis was carried out to explore what variables would affect the two subfactors. And it's found that psychological symptoms were positively affected by emotional dissonance. The above-mentioned findings illustrated that service education had something to do with the emotional labor of the dental hygienists, and that the emotional labor of the dental hygienists had an impact on their job burnout.

Adaptation of Foreign Migrant Workers to the Korean Society through Taekwondo (외국인 이주노동자의 태권도를 통한 한국사회 적응)

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the role of Taekwondo in foreign migrant workers' adaptation process in Korean society, based on segmented assimilation concept by Portes & Zhou(1993) as a theoretical framework. In order to achieve this, an in-depth interview of 13 foreign migrant workers in Gyeonggi-region was carried out by using purpose sampling and theoretical sampling together, and the interview was analyzed using grounded theory method. The analysis result demonstrated that foreign migrant workers understand Korean culture, learn Korean, and interact with Koreans through Taekwondo, which facilitates their acculturation into the mainstream society. Also, they were assimilated into their own subculture of being fascinated by the charms of Taekwondo and trying to become Taekwondo instructors by returning to their home country. Lastly, they built a social network and overcame tough labor and the difficulties of living in a foreign country through Taekwondo. This research is significant as it examined the role of Taekwondo that preserves Korean culture and checked its value, in terms of the adaptation of foreign migrant workers who take a part in the current rearrangement of Korean society into a multicultural society.

Survey on Perceptions Regarding the Reform of Professional Qualifications in Employment Services (고용서비스 관련 전문자격 개편에 대한 인식 조사)

  • Although jobs in the employment service sector have been continuously expanding over the past 20 years, many in the labor market point out that the signaling and selection functions of job counselor qualifications are deteriorating because job counseling and psychology were developed mainly in the early 2000s. Therefore, in this study, a survey was conducted on current employment service workers on the establishment and improvement of employment service professional qualifications. According to the data analysis, employment service workers lack the current level of competence compared to their importance in all their jobs, and there is a limit to taking charge of all the expanded employment service jobs such as corporate support, administrative management, and labor market program planning and execution as a single job counselor. As for the direction of reorganization of employment service-related qualifications in the future, more than half agreed to establish new qualifications. Similarly, more than half of the respondents wanted to strengthen the qualifications of existing job counselors related to employment services.

Relationship between emotional labor, burnout and turnover intention in the dental hygienists (치과위생사들의 감정노동, 소진 및 이직의도간의 관계)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between emotional labor, burnout and turnover intention in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 326 dental hygienists in Seoul and Gyeonggido from September to October, 2013. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 15.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of nine questions of the general characteristics of the subjects, ten questions of turnover intention, and fourteen questions of burnout. Each question was measured by Likert 5 point scale. Results: There was a significant difference in workplace and monthly income which had an impact on emotional expression(p<0.05). There was a significant difference in current workplace and monthly income which had an impact on emotional dissonance(p<0.05). Burnout had a significant difference(p<0.05) in age, religion, and turnover intention current workplace, employment condition, and the number of turnover. There was a positive correlation between burnout and turnover intention. It was shown that Emotional labor had a positive correlation with burnout and turnover intention and the explanation power was 18.1%. Conclusions: The dental hygienists are one of the most vulnerable emotional labor workers and are apt to feel exhaustion from the job and turnover intention. It is necessary to prepare for the burnout and turnover intention in the dental hygienists.
