An Analysis and Evaluation of Fire Resistance Performance for the Protected Steel Columns in Korea (국내 피복 철골기둥의 내화 성능 분석 및 평가)

  • Main structural steel members need fire-resistance measures to ensure their fire-resistance performance for a prescribed time. This paper analyzes and evaluates the fire-resistance performance of approved Korean fire-protection products for steel columns. These products are classified into products for board protection and for spray protection, samples of which were selected for the analysis. The fire-resistance performance was analyzed on the basis of Korean and European standards. The Korean standards are considered additional to the Euro-code standards for performance design. The Korean standards generally take more precautions to ensure safety on the temperature side, but require the reflection of material properties, the steel temperature calculation methodology, the profile factor, and the strength verification in a fire.

  • 내화구조로 인정을 받은 국내의 철골조 기둥의 경우 대다수가 H형강에 내화제품을 피복한 구조이다. 본 연구에서는 한국산업표준에서 제시하고 있는 단면형상계수를 기준으로 H형강 인정구조와 다양한 단면의 내화구조의 비교실험을 통해 국내 인정제도를 개선하기 위한 자료로 활용하고자 하였다.

Experimental Study on Separate Evaluations of Fire Resistance of SFRM for Steel Beams and Columns (내화뿜칠재 보와 기둥의 내화성능 분리평가에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • It is necessary to obtain a fire resistance certification in order to use SFRM in Korea. The fire resistance tests for certifications are performed separately for beams and columns and the certifications are different. We could assume that the same SFRM has different thicknesses for beams and columns because the conditions of the fire resistance tests for them differ in the section factors etc. But most of the SFRMs in Korea have the same thicknesses for beams and columns. So the question arises as to there were the differences between the fire test results for beams and columns reside. The purpose of this study is to consider the separate evaluation of the fire resistance of members through a comparative analysis of the temperature data obtained from fire certification tests.

Fire Resistance of U-shape Hybrid Composite Beam (신형상 U형 하이브리드 합성보의 내화성능에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to experimentally investigate the fire resistance of U-shaped hybrid composite beams protected by spay and paint insulations. Subjected to two and three hours of the Standard ISO fire, the flexural performance of 4.4m beams with/without imposed loadings was examined with respect to failure criteria such as deflection and deflection rate of the mid-span and temperatures measured in the steel section. The results demonstrated that the proposed configuration of the composite beam is able to achieve a very competitive 3-hour fire resistance rating in economical aspects.
