Analysis of High Sea-worthiness Offshore Wind Turbine (고 내항성 해상풍력 발전기 해석)

  • Research was conducted to analyze and improve the kinetic performance of offshore wind power generators. The shape used in this study was taken with reference to the previous paper, and the size of the repair area was designed at 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%, respectively, and the exercise performance was confirmed accordingly. The sea state was calculated in Sea State 4, 5, and 6. In the calculation process, the calculation was performed using commercial computational hydrodynamics (ANSYS) and AQUA. In the case of overall exercise performance, it was confirmed that the smaller the size of the repair area, the smaller the exercise such as heave, roll, and pitch. However, it was confirmed that in the case of a shape in which the size of the repair area was rapidly reduced, there may be cases in which the restoration performance was not satisfied when the restoration calculation was performed. In addition, it was confirmed that there may be an appropriate repair surface depending on the sea condition.

  • The Safe Operating Envelope (SOE) combined with Short-Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) performance is an essential consideration of a light aircraft carrier for design of hull shape with excellent seakeeping performance in terms of naval air operations as well as traditional naval ship missions such as Transit and Patrol (TAP), and Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and so on. A variety of procedures are systematically combined to determine SOE considering rather complicated missions associated with operation of aircraft onboard. The evaluation of take-off and landing safety missions onboard should consider wind effect on deck and severer seakeeping indices and standards compared with conventional naval ships. In order to support take-off and landing missions, various support activities of the crews are required. So, additional evaluation is needed for indicators such as MSI(Motion sickness Index) and MII(Motion Induced Interruptions), which are quantitative indicators of work ability that appear as a result of motion response. In this study, a standard procedure is developed including the seaworthiness performance indicators, standards, and evaluation procedures that should be considered during design of STOVL aircraft carrier. Analysis results are discussed in terns of air-wake on deck as well as seakeeping indices associated with design parameter changes in view of conceptual design of a light aircraft carrier.

Analysis of Steady and Unsteady Flow Around a Ship Using a Higher-Order Boundary Element Method (고차경계요소법에 의한 선체주위 유동해석)

  • An efficient and accurate scheme has been constructed by taking advantages of the hi-quadratic spline scheme and the higher-order boundary element method selectively depending on computation domains. Boundary surfaces are represented by 8-node boundary elements to describe curved surfaces of a ship and its neighboring free surface more accurately. The variation of the velocity potential complies with the characteristics of the 8-node element on the body surface. But on the free surface, it is assumed to follow that of the hi-quadratic spline scheme. By which, the free surface solution is free from numerical damping and has better numerical dispersion property. As numerical examples, steady and unsteady Neumann-Kelvin problems are considered. Numerical results for a submerged spheroid, Series 60($C_B=0.6$) and a modified support the proposed method. Finally, a new upstream radiation condition is derived using a wave equation operator in order to deal with problems for subcritical reduced frequency. The relevance of this operator has been confirmed in the case of unsteady Kelvin source potential.

A Study on the Evaluation of the Appropriateness of the Control of Departure of Tugs Based on the Analysis of Ship Dynamic Motion (선체운동 해석 기반의 예인선 출항통제 적정성 평가에 대한 연구)

  • Korea controls the departure of vessels based on the Maritime Safety Act such that only ships with seaworthiness can navigate in bad weather, but scientific evaluation results and quantitative basis for the designation of ships subject to control are insufficient. Opinions for improvement are being raised for a reasonable departure control operation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the adequacy of the current departure control standards through actual measurement of tugboats, which are the type of vessels subject to control when a wind and wave advisory is effective, and to present quantitative grounds for improvement of controls. A sensor was installed on the tugboat to measure the ship's three-axis motion and hull acceleration, and the hull motion performance was measured by operating in the sea area with a significant wave height of 3 m. The measured values were compared and analyzed based on seaworthiness evaluation factors and limit value standards. The actual ship was excluded from the current control standard according to tonnage, but as a result of the analysis, the pitch value exceeded the operation standard, and a risk to navigation safety existed. The results of this study suggest the need for additional actual measurement studies that can represent various ship types and specifications and review ship departure control targets.
