Usually social control and acceptance of science and technology is thought to be a separate or even confronting thing. But this paper aims to go beyond this simple and dichotomous thinking. Rather, this paper argues that social control and acceptance of science and technology can be combined altogether organically. In other words, this paper argues that social control of a particular science and technology has functional effects to the acceptance of that science and technology. Social control of a particular science and technology is a signal that something is going wrong; it reallocates attention and enhances social awareness; it evaluates ongoing activity; and it alters this activity in various ways to secure a sustainable future. In order to prove this functional hypothesis, this paper tries a case study of biotechnology from a perspective of sociology of science and technology. Especially social controversies around genetically modified organisms(GMOs) and embryo cloning in Korea are analysed deeply. As a conclusion, this paper proposes some policy implications of this study.

This study focuses on the recent case held as to control in franchising. On the basis of analysis of the recent case, it examines the validity of the decision and suggests practical advice. The extensive judicial precedent has held that the franchisor and the franchisee possess the independent contractor relationship. But Williams v. Jani-king of Philadelphia Inc. suggest the conversion of the franchisee's status to an employees instead of an independent contractor. Franchisees allege that they were wrongly classified as independent contractors instead of employees because Jani-King had the ability to control the manner in which franchisees perform their day-to-day tasks. The appeal court held that Pennsylvania law does not distinguish between controls put in place to protect a franchise's intellectual property and controls for other purposes, and a franchisee may be an employee or an independent contractor depending on the nature of the franchise system controls. However, some degree of controls by the franchisor over the franchisee is inherent in the franchise and may even be mandated by the federal and state laws. Moreover, the appeal court affirmed that the franchise agreement, policies manual, and training manual alone could be sufficient to resolve the employment status. But it seems appropriate that the right to control on the documents is considered with the actual control.

This research identifies an educational ideal, purpose of goal intrinsic to Hindu ashrama and provide a concrete list of appropriate educational contents and methods in accordance with them. The ideal is moksa a pursuit of spiritual liberation. The goal is to be consciously aware of and practice the Dharma at each of the four stages of life, as preserved in ashrama, by completing the educational contents and methods in each stage. In the fist stage, the student stage, the goal is to learn social laws, recognize his vocation and responsibilities through studying Veda, and engage in apprenticeship with the teacher. In the second stage, the householder stage, the goal is to get married, take care of his family, and produce the kinds of service the society requires of him. In order to do so, he is expected to learn in his ordinary life the manners for family members and the ways of ancestral rituals. In the third stage, the self-disciplined stage, the goal is to retire from social responsibilities, behave in accordance with norms and rules, and set oneself free from material desire. In order to do so, he is expected to complete the eight stage of yoga and practice asceticism. In the four stage, the nirvana stage, the goal is to completely free from obsession and reaches the spiritual liberation. In order to do so, one is expected to participate in meditation and pilgrimage to the Holy Land until he reaches the final point.

This is one of the basic research for inspecting the possibility of the development of logical thinking capability to make possible formal thinking. The 5th grade students (n=306) in the elementary school were participated in this study. Performing the 6 variable-controlling activities in the 'Thinking Science' program for one semester, the SRT II test and the Variable-Controlling test were operated to examine the effects on the development of the variable-controlling ability by treatments, gender, and cognitive levels. Performing of the variable-controlling activities was highly successive on the development of students' variable-controlling ability. Although learning effect on the ability of identifying causal variable was moderate, the abilities of controlling experimental condition, measurement of variable, and identifying result variable were significantly developed. There was statistically significant difference by gender. Girls showed better performance all the time in both groups. Boys in the experimental group were getting better gradually, so the difference by gender was somewhat decreased. Examining the variable-controlling ability by cognitive levels, students in the experimental group show significant increase in all levels, especially the students in early, mid, and mature concrete level show substantial learning effects. The results of this study implied that the variable-controlling activities in the 'Thinking Science' could be effective for learning of variable-controlling and eventually for the development of logical thinking capability to make possible formal thinking.

컴퓨터교과는 학생들의 일반적인 학업성취 개인차 요인과 더불어 필수 교과가 아니기 때문에 학교 혹은 교사마다 교육하는 내용이 상이하여 학생들이 상급학교로 진학하였을 때 학생들 간의 수준 차가 심화된다. 이러한 다양한 수준차가 있는 학생들을 교사 1인이 한정된 시간 안에 모든 학생들의 수준에 맞추어 지도하는 것은 대단히 어렵다. 또 넓은 컴퓨터실에서는 학생들의 주위가 분산될 우려가 많으므로 학생들의 행동을 수시로 관리할 필요가 있다. 이러한 컴퓨터교과 실습수업 시에는 보다 효과적인 지도방법이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터교과 실습지도 방법의 장단점을 분석하고, 컴퓨터교과 실습수업 시 널리 사용되는 시범 실습법의 단점을 보완할 수 있는 도우미학생 활용 시범 실습법을 제안하고, 중학교 컴퓨터 정규교과 시간에 적용하여 그 효과를 검증하였다. 도우미학생 활용 시범 실습법이란 교사는 실습내용을 설명하고, 모든 학생들은 교사의 설명과 동시에 실습을 하며, 도우미학생의 실습내용이 빔 프로젝트를 통해 다른 학생들에게 보여짐으로써 교사의 시범을 대신하는 방법을 말한다. 컴퓨터교과는 설명만으로도 실습 가능한 내용이 많아 이러한 지도방법이 가능하다 이 방법은 실습내용을 최소한의 작은 단계로 구분하고, 각 단계별로 교사의 설명과 개별지도, 모든 학생의 실습과 관찰이 동시에 이루어진다. 이 방법은 교사의 행동이 자유로워 설명과 동시에 개별지도가 가능해 개별지도의 확대를 가져올 수 있으며, 학생들에게 보다 많은 즉각적인 피드백을 줄 수 있으며, 학생들의 행동을 수시로 관리할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 또한 본 연구에서는 검증도구로 'html 태그' 단원 5차시 분량의 과제수행능력평가도구를 개발하여 사용하였다. 검증결과 학업성취 중하수준의 도우미학생 활용 시범 실습으로 수업한 집단은 통제반과 유의미한 차이가 없었으나, 학업성취 중상수준의 도우미학생 활용 시범실습으로 수업한 집단은 통제반에 비해 과제수행능력에 있어서 유의미한 차이를 보였다 이로써 제안한 지도방법의 효과성을 입증하였다.

본 논문에서는 SEEN 보안운영체제 시스템에서 접근통제 정책관리 도구의 설계 및 구현한 내용을 설명한다. 보안운영체제에 대한 지식이 부족한 보안 관리자가 정책을 설정하고 적용하는 데에 많은 어려움이 따른다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 정책 적용 및 정책 설정의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 접근통제 정책관리 처리에 대한 것을 사용자가 쉽게 파악 할 수 있고 친숙한 그래픽 기반의 형태로 특별한 지식이 없는 사용자와 보안 관리자들에게 시스템을 효율적이고 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 한다.

전략물자라 함은 군사적 목적으로만 이용되는 군전용의 물자만이 아닌 민수품까지도 포괄하는 개념이다. 전략물자에 포함되는 민수품은 군사적 목적으로도 사용될 수 있는 품목으로서 국제적으로는 이중용도(Dual Use)품목으로 불리어진다. 이러한 군전용 물품과 이중용도품목이 분쟁국가나 국제평화를 저해할 우려가 있는 국가로 수출이 되어 군사력의 과도한 확장에 이용되지 않도록 하기위한 제도가 전략물자 수출통제제도이다. 국제사회에서 안보와 평화를 위한 규범으로 시행되고 있는 전략물자 수출통제 강화 추세에 적절히 대응하지 못할 경우, 우리 업체의 피해는 물론 국가 이미지에 심대한 타격을 받을 수 있으므로 우리나라도 정부·기업이 역할을 분담하는 방향으로 전략물자 수출통제 강화방안이 마련되었다. 본 고에서는 기업리스크 관리를 위한 전략물자 무역관리를 위해 한국무역협회에서 발간한‘알기 쉽게 풀어 쓴 전략물자 무역관리’내용을 발췌하여 연재한다.

본 연구에서는 UCC 동영상을 활용한 수업이 미국문화 이해도에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 이를 위해 7차 영어과 교육과정 목표를 참고하여 5학년 학생들 발달 단계에 맞는 미국문화 내용을 선정하고, 알맞은 UCC 동영상을 선별하여 UCC활용형 지식체험교수학습 모형을 개발하였다. 개발된 교수 학습과정안을 적용하여 초등학교 5학년을 실험집단과 통제집단으로 나누어 13차시 수업을 실시하였다. 실험 결과 UCC동영상을 활용하여 수업한 실험집단 평균 M=25.15(SD=3.02), 통제집단평균 M=24.09(SD=3.84)로서 실험집단이 통제집단보다 평균에서 더 높은 결과를 나타내었고, 이는 t=2.458(p=.017)로 p<.05 수준에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 UCC 동영상을 활용한 미국문화 교육이 기존의 수업 방법보다 초등학생들의 미국문화 이해도 향상에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다

ISO/IEC JTC 1에서 정보보안 기술에 대한 국제표준화를 추진하고 있는 서브위원회(SC, subcommittee)는 SC 27 서브위원회이다. 이 위원회는 1980년 창립되어 금년으로 21년째 되는 서브위원회로, 정보보호관리체계, 암호 및 보안 메커니즘, 보안성 평가 기준, 보안 통제 및 서비스, 아이덴티티 (identity) 관리 및 프라이버시 기술에 대한 국제표준화를 추진하고있다. 이중 작업반 4에서는 보안 통제(security control) 및 서비스에 대한 국제표준화를 추진하고 있으며, 2006년에 창립되어 주로 네트워크 보안, 정보보호 침해사고 관리, 사이버 보안, 디지털 증거자료(포렌직), 공급자 체인 보안, 스토리지 보안 등 서비스 및 응용보안에 초점을 맞추어 국제표준화를 추진하고 있다. 본 고에서는 작업반 4에서 최근에 수행되고있는 주요 국제표준화 내용을 살펴보고 주요 이슈를 제시한다.
