The Perception of the Professors and Teachers about the Education on Quadratic Curves in Various Universities (사범대학의 이차곡선 영역 교육에 대한 교수 및 교사의 인식)

  • This study aims to investigate how the university educational programs about quadratic curves are operated in relation to the high school curriculum and what their effects may be, and the degree of understanding for the prospective and current teachers of the mathematical content knowledge about quadratic curves. To solve this research questions, we randomly selected three universities and one high school. Then we investigated the curricula of each department of mathematics education, compared them with the high school curricula, and conducted surveys of the professors' and students' conception on how much mathematical content knowledge they need to know about quadratic curves. The study resulted in the following conclusions. First, the curriculum on the subject of quadratic curves in the college of education is closely connected to the high school programs. This study's results showed that the college of education's curriculum includes a series of lectures regarding quadratic curves, and that within them, the mathematical content about quadratic curves associated with high school mathematics was thoroughly covered. Also, a large number of students who attended the lecture reported a significant increase in their understanding in regards to the quadratic curves. Second, it is strongly recommended to strengthen the connection between the college of education's curriculum and the actual high school education field. The prospective teachers think that there is a substantial need to learn about the quadratic curves because it is closely connected with the high school curriculum. But they find it challenging to put what they were taught into practical use in the high school education field, and feel that an improvement in this area is much needed. Third, it is necessary to promote, encourage and support the voluntary efforts to expand the range of the content knowledge in quadratic curves to cover the academic content associated with the high school mathematics.

Video Summary Technique using Content Curve in MPEG Compressed Domain (MPEG 압축 영역에서 내용 곡선을 이용한 Video 요약 기법)

  • This paper proposes a method to extract the content curve that reflects changes in video content from the MPEG video in the compressed domain, and also describes a video summary generation technique which can read video effectively and rapidly from the content curve. Existing video summary techniques have a disadvantage of taking significant amount of time to generate the video summary due to complex calculations in the decoding process. Moreover, the existing techniques, which use video content curve, require to perform many calculations to process the high dimensional content curve. However, the proposed technique generates video summary fast via the linear approximation of the proposed curve, after extraction the two dimensional content curve directly. In addition, the proposed technique has a merit that the user can set any number of key-frames and amount of calculation that form the video summary.

Analysis of Mathematics Teachers' Mathematical Content Knowledge about Quadratic Curves (수학교사의 이차곡선에 관한 내용지식의 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper was to investigate mathematics teachers' mathematical content knowledge about quadratic curves. Three components of mathematical knowledge are needed for teaching: (i) knowing school mathematics, (ii) knowing process of school mathematics, (iii) making connections between school mathematics and advanced mathematics. 24 mathematics teachers were asked to perform 10 questions based on mathematics curriculum. The results showed that mathematics teachers had some difficulties in conic section definitions and eccentricity definitions of ellipse and hyperbola. And they also got difficulty in Dandellin sphere proof of the equivalence of conic section definitions and quadratic curve definitions. Especially, no one answered correctly to the question about the definition of eccentricity. The ratio of correct answer for the question about constructing tangent lines of quadratic curves is less than that for the question about the applications of the properties of tangent lines. These findings suggests that it is needed that to provide plenty of opportunities to learn mathematical content knowledge in teacher education programs.

A View on the Deviation of Content Elements of Quadratic Curve in High School Geometry Textbooks (고등학교 기하 교과서 이차곡선 내용 요소 편차에 대한 소고(小考))

  • This study looked at the deviation of each textbook, focusing on the detailed learning content related to the quadratic curve properties contained in high school geometry textbooks. Rather than criticizing the diversity of content elements covered in high school geometry textbooks and suggesting alternatives, it focused on analyzing the actual conditions of content element diversity. The curriculum specifies that the practical application of the quadratic curve should be emphasized so that student could recognize the usefulness and value. However, as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the purpose of the curriculum and the structure of the textbook did not match somewhat, the deviation of content elements for each textbook was quite large. In terms of acknowledging the diversity of teaching and learning, the diversity of each textbook on the methods of the introduction and the natures related to the quadratic curve can be fully recognized. But in our educational reality, which is aiming for the university entrance examination system through national evaluation such as CSAT, the results are too sensitive in society as a whole, so the diversity of expressions in mathematics textbooks is sometimes interpreted as a disadvantage of evaluation. It is time to reconsider the composition of textbooks that recognizes the diversity of content elements in textbook teaching and learning and at the same time reflects the aspect of equality in evaluation.

  • 기후변화는 우리의 현실로 다가와 있지만 기후변화로 인해 어떠한 일이 벌어질 것인지는 정확하게 알 수 없는 문제가 있다. 특히 호우의 강도와 지속시간 등은 수문설계에 영향을 미치는 주요한 인자 임에도 불구하고 과학적이고 합리적인 추론이 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 일본에서 대규모 기후 앙상블 모의실험 기반으로 생성된 d4PDF(Data for Policy Decision Making for Future Change)자료 중 시간 단위의 강수앙상블 모의 자료를 이용하여 기상청 서울지점의 강우강도-지속시간-생기빈도 곡선(Intensity-Duration-Frequency Curve; IDF 곡선)의 변화를 추정해 보았다. 이를 위하여 대용량의 자료를 확보하고 서울지점에서의 과거 50년간의 실측자료와 동일기간의 모의자료에 대한 연최대치 계열에 분위사상법을 적용하여 모의자료의 계통적 오차를 소거할 수 있는 함수를 추정하고 이를 이용하여 미래 시나리오에 적용함으로써 지구평균기온 상승에 대응하는 서울관측지점의 IDF 곡선을 추정하여 제시하였다. 추정 결과의 내용은 다양한 요소에 의해 영향을 받는 미래 기후에 대한 내용이라 신뢰성의 평가가 어렵지만 기존의 강우강도에 일률적으로 위험률을 곱하는 방식보다는 좀 더 합리적인 방법이라 생각되며 향후 수문설계 등에 고려될 수도 있을 것이다.

원자로 압력용기 감시시험용 충격시험시스템 구축

  • 원자로 압력용기 재료로 사용되고 있는 ASTM SA508 및 SA533 계열의 재료는 결정구조가 체심입방격자(bcc)로서 시험온도별 최대흡수에너지(USE)에 대한 선도를 그리면 고온에서는 연성이 크고, 저온에서는 취성이 큰 전형적인 “S”자 형태의 Cv-천이온도곡선으로 나타난다. 그리고 조사전과 조사후의 연성-취성천이온도곡선을 흡수에너지값이 30ft-lb 또는 50ft-lb인 지점에석 비교해보면 재료의 조사취화(radiation embrittlement)현상으로 온도가 높은 쪽으로 이동됨을 알 수 있으며, 이러한 온도의 이동값은 원자로의 운전수명과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 따라서 조사전후의 흡수에 너지값에 따른 온도변화량를 정확하게 산출하기 위해서는 시편의 온도를 조절하는 장치 및 시편을 아주 짧은 시간내에 충격시험기의 앤빌까지 장전하는 장치 둥의 충격시험시스템 구축은 매우 중요하다. 이에 조사계시험시설(IMEF)에서는 원자로 압력용기 감시시험에 대한 충격시험시스템을 구축하였고, 이의 내용은 감시시험 수행에 기준이 되는 ASTM El85-82 및 과학기술처 고시 제 92-20호의 세부내용을 충분하게 만족시키는 것으로 확인되었으며, 이렇게 확인된 내용들은 현재 국내에서 수행되고 있는 감시시험에 적극적으로 활용되고 있다.

  • This paper presents a variation method of the parent ship using sectional area curve & the definition of NURBS curve. That is, global variation of the hull form is made systematically by the geometrical property of sectional area curve, and Local variation of the hull form is executed by the definition of NURBS curve. Then the designer may determine New hull form considering New section area curve, design condition, etc.

  • As integrated essay writing is performed in university entrance examinations, teachers and students recognize the importance of integrated essay, but teachers have still difficulties of teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to derive educational implications through case of mathematics instruction for integrated essay education to pre-service mathematics teachers. The content knowledge of this class is a definition of conic section in mathematics and properties of conic section in an antenna reflector. The students have to discover them using the history of math, manipulative material, paper-folding and computer simulation. In this teaching and learning process the students can realize mathematical knowledge invented by humans through history of mathematics. The students can evaluate the validity of that as create and justify a mathematical proposition. Also, the students can explain the relation between them logically and descript cause or basis convincingly in the process of justifying. We should keep our study to instructional materials and teaching methods in integrated essay education.

  • The learning effect is one of the theoretical frameworks that examine the mechanisms of the deployment of energy technologies. The objective of this paper is to provide a theoretical overview and a critical analysis of the literature on the experience curve for energy technology. For these objectives, we review a couple of theoretical aspects and applications and investigate the sources of learning and cost reductions to grasp the mechanisms of teaming effect. Finally we conclude some insights from our theoretical reviews.

  • 우리나라와 선진 각국에서는 구체적인 부분까지 상당량을 규격(standard)으로 제정해 놓고 있다. 규격의 내용을 전반적으로 언급하기는 어렵기 때문에, 여기서는 범위를 좁혀 한 분야의 계통을 선택하여 설명하고자 한다. 즉, 강재의 맞대기 용접부에대하여, 사각탐촉자에 의한 탐상법을 예시적으로 선택하고 KS B 0896 규격을 중심으로 설명하는 내용이다. 이와 관련한 내용들은, 탐상장치의 성능시험, 거리진폭 특성곡선, 결함 및 탐상에 관한 사전준지, 결함의 탐상방법 등이며, 참고로 한국 일본 미국의 초음파 탐상시험에 관련된 규격명을 열거한다.
