A Study on Application of Euclid's Geometry at Unit of Equation of Figures in High School 1st Grade (고등학교 도형의 방정식 단원에서 논증기하의 활용에 대한 연구)

  • Geometry in school mathematics is the field that has the possibility of diverse approach such as Synthetic Geometry and Analytic Geometry. Synthetic Geometry is handled in middle schools and Analytic Geometry in the first year of high schools. Therefore, this research show for the possibility of using Synthetic Geometry in high schools which was learned already in middle schools and the way of integrating both of them concretely. This is expected to help students understand the mathematical meaning of figures a lot.

  • This study is based on the pedagogical aspect that both connections of mathematical concepts and a geometric approach enhance the understanding of structures in school mathematics. This study is to investigate the graphical properties of quadratic functions such as symmetry, coordinates of vertex, intercepts and congruency through the geometric properties of graphs of linear functions. From this investigation this study would give suggestions on a new pedagogical perspective about current teaching and learning methods of quadratic function graphs which is focused on routine algebraic transformation of the completing squares. In addition, this study would provide the topic of quadratic function graphs with the understanding of geometric perspective.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze 'datum' of 'The Data' in the textbooks of middle school on the basis of 'The Data of Euclid' and develop datum. For this, the followings are conducted. First, the distinctive structure of datum of 'The Data' is considered. Second, some learning materials the contents of geometry in the textbooks of middle school are analyzed and the mathematical meanings are explored. Third, the applicable datum to geometry education of middle school are developed and the way of educational use is studied. The hopefully, the result of this study will make school mathematics education more plentiful and give meaningful implications to revision of mathematics education curriculum and the improvement of teaching and learning.

The Controversy on the Conceptual Foundation of Space-Time Geometry (시공간 기하학의 개념적 기초에 대한 논쟁)

  • According to historical commentators such as Newton and Einstein, bodily behaviors are causally explained by the geometrical structure of space-time whose existence analogous to that of material substance. This essay challenges this conventional wisdom of interpreting space-time geometry within both Newtonian and Einsteinian physics. By tracing recent historical studies on the interpretation of space-time geometry, I defends that space-time structure is a by-product of a more fundamental fact, the laws of motion. From this perspective, I will argue that the causal properties of space-time cannot provide an adequate account of the theory-change from Newtoninan to Einsteinian physics.

  • This study aims to analyze and criticize the definition of the similarity concept in mathematical texts by investigating mathematical history. At first, we analyzed the definition of Pythagoras, the definition of Euclid's ${\ll}$Elements${\gg}$, the definition of Clairaut's ${\ll}$Elements of geometry${\gg}$, the postulate of Brkhoff's postulates for plane geometry, the definition of Birkhoff & Beatly의 ${\ll}$Basic Geometry${\gg}$. the definition of SMSG ${\ll}$Geometry${\gg}$. and the definition of the similarity concept in current mathematics texts. Then we criticized the definition of the similarity concept in current mathematics texts based on mathematical history. We critically discussed three issues and gave three suggestions.

  • In the latest medical world, the attempt of reconstructing anatomical human body system using computer graphics technology awakes people's interests. Actually, this trial has been made in dentistry too. There are a lot of practicable technology fields using computer graphics in dentistry For example, 3D visualization and measurement of dental data, detection of implant location, surface reconstruction for restoring artificial teeth in prostheses and relocation of teeth in orthodontics can be applied. In this paper, we propose methods for definitely detecting the geometric features of teeth such as cusp, ridge, fissure and pit, which have been used as most important characteristics in dental applications. The proposed methods are based on the approximate curvatures that are measured on a 3D tooth model made by scanning an impression. We also give examples of the geometric features detected by using the proposed methods. Comparing to other traditional methods visually, the methods are very useful in detecting more accurate geometric features.

  • Because satellite images have the advantage of high resolution, multi-spectral, revisit and wide swath characteristics, it is increased to utilize satellite image and get information little by little in nowadays. In order to utilize remote sensed images effectively, it is necessary to process satellite images through many processing steps. Among them, geometric correction is essential step for satellite image processing. In this study, we constructed geometric correction data using LANDSAT satellite images. First, we extracted GCPs from maps and constructed database over the Korean peninsular. Second, LANDSAT satellite images, 165 scenes were corrected geometrically using GCP database. Finally, we made 7 mosaic images by means of geometric correction images over Korean peninsular. We think that constructed geometric correction data will be used for many application fields as basic data.

교사양성대학에서의 선형대수학 강좌 운영

  • 수학이 자연과학의 기초 또는 기본으로 여겨지듯이, 수학에서도 기초가 되는 강좌들이 있다. 미적분학이나 집합론, 그리고 선형대수학은 그러한 강좌라고 할 수 있다. 대수학의 관점에서 볼 때, 선형대수학은 현대대수학을 이해하기 위한 기본바탕이 되고, 한편 수학 전체적으로 보더라도, 선형대수학은 다른 고등수학을 배우기 위한 필수적인 선수과목을 것이고, 그 자체로서도 많은 응용성을 지니고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 선형대수학은 중등 교육과정과도 밀접한 관련이 있으므로, 교샤양성 대학에서의 선형대수학 강좌를 통해 학생들은 교육과정상의 연계성까지 이해하여야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 사범대학 학생들로 하여금, 선형대수학 그 자체의 순수한 측면과, 중등교육과의 긴밀한 관련성, 아울러 기하락, 미분방정식, 그리고 부호이론과 관련된 최신 정보수학의 응용적인 측면도 포함하여 선형대수학의 폭넓은 이해를 꾀하는 방안을 제시한다.

Acoustic Analysis of Interior Spaces by Using the Phased Geometric Acoustic Model (위상이 고려된 기하음향모델에 의한 내부음장 해석)

  • 중주파수대역은 내부 음향 모드의 공명 및 모드간 상호 간섭 특성을 완전히 무시할 수는 없으나 모드 밀도가 비교적 높기 때문에, 기존의 저주파수용 모드기법이나 고주파수에 대한 통계적 및 기하학적 해석방법과는 다른 기법이 필요한 구간이다. 본 논문에서는 위상 을 포함한 기하음향모델을 이용하여 중주파수 특성을 고려하는 개념을 이용하여 해석기법을 확립하였으며, 삼각형빔법을 기초로 한 모델링을 하였다. 세 개의 서로 다른 특성을 지닌 대 상 공간에 대해 음향 경계요소법 및 실험에 의한 음향 주파수응답함수와 본 연구 결과를 비 교함으로써 유효성과 오차특성을 검토하였다. 이로부터 위상으로 고려한 중주파수 대역에 잘 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였고, Schroeder의 차단주파수 이하의 저주파수에서는 내부구조 에 의한 회절이, 차단주파수의 네 배 이상인 고주파수에서는 벽면에서의 산란이 간섭현상과 함께 고려되어야 함을 보였다. 이러한 해석기법은 중주파수대역에 있어서 청감특성을 고려 한 내부공간의 음향설계에 매우 유용할 것으로 사료된다.
