  • This study proposes the Field Oriented Capacity Upgrade Program, an educational model for improving clinical practice of occupational therapy. The effectiveness of the self-directed learning ability and problem solving ability of students was compared by comparing the proposed educational model with the traditional teaching method. The research method was divided into the experimental group who participated in the model education and the control group who participated in the lecture class, and conducted similar experimental studies using the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. In addition, the study participants conducted a preliminary and follow-up survey of a total of 135 students who participated in the education over three semesters. As a result of training using the proposed learning method, the experimental group improved self-directed learning ability and problem solving ability by 22% and 18%, respectively, compared to the control group. This study developed and proposed a new teaching-learning method to improve clinical practice of occupational therapy, and it is meaningful as a basic data of teaching-learning method to improve the ability required in various jobs.

  • There have been many developments and innovations in the educational environments in line with the rapidly evolving information age. E-Learning is a representative example of this rapid evolution. However, E-Learning is challenging to maintain students' concentration because of the low engagement level and limited interactions between instructors and students. Additionally, instructors have limitations in identifying learners' concentration. This paper proposes a system that can measure E-learning users' concentration levels by detecting the users' eyelid movement and the top of the head. The system recognizes the eyelid and the top of the head and measures the learners' concentration level. Detection of the eyelid and the top of the head triggers an event to assess the learners' concentration level based on the users' response. After this process, the system provides a normalized concentration score to the instructor. Experiments with experimental groups and control groups were conducted to verify and validate the system, and the concentration score showed more than 90% accuracy.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the efficacy of cosmetics containing peptides as a cosmetic method for eyelashes. The study subjects were 21 women aged 20 years, set as the experimental group (right eyelash) and the control group (left eyelash), and measured changes according to the use of peptide cosmetics for 4 weeks. As a result of the analysis, the change in the length and density of eyelashes showed significant differences in the interaction between the group and the experiment period, and in the main effect according to each experiment period (p<.001). In the change of eyelash density and thickness, it was found that there was a significant difference at week 3 and week 4 in the difference between groups by measurement period (p>.05, p>.01). Cosmetics containing peptides have been effectively proven to be an effective cosmetic method for safe and beautiful eyelashes by increasing the length and number of eyelashes to those who suffer from side effects caused by cosmetic procedures. In the future, we look forward to expanding research to a wide range of age groups.

  • This study used a non-parametric linear program, Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) to compare the efficiency of Korean and global container shipping companies from 2005 to 2009. The sample shipping companies were 7 Korean container shipping companies and 11 global container shipping companies. The main objective of our research is to compare their efficiency, as well as the changes in efficiency periodically according to the types of the container shipping companies. According to the periodical analysis, both Korean and Global container shipping companies showed a steady decrease in efficiency. The study showed that Korean container shipping companies have greater efficiency than their global rivals.

  • This study examines the perceptions on work-family balance and compares the differences of diverse groups in Korea. The success of work-family policies depends on employees' perceptions of both the tangible and intangible aspects of work-family supportiveness. A survey was conducted to produce a instrument that could measure the perceptions of work-family balance. The survey is a conducted random sample, with random selection of respondents who are working and over the age of 25 in Seoul and the metropolitan area. The research design employed ANOVA to compare the perceptions on work-family policies for supporting work-life balance in society. There was a difference in spillover levels between workers in different groups such as gender, employment status, age, the number of children, family type by employment status, company size, and industry. The findings will inform policy-makers as they continue to develop policies that positively affect working people.

  • The purpose to this study is to analyze the difference of trust toward Internet-only bank into two groups according to the gender. We specially examined whether there is any gap in the determinant of trust. For this, we attempted to analyze the significance of the difference in the path coefficients between the gender through latent mean and path analysis. As a results, the difference of the determinant of trust between the male and the female group occurred in the factor of benefit and security. Moreover, it reconfirmed that trust are later strongly extended to relationship commitment. These findings suggest that it's very important to establish a trust with customers.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effects of self-esteem in the relationship between marital conflict and school adjustment among adolescents. This study used data collected from 482 middle school students in Seoul. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem in the relationship between marital conflict and school adjustment. The results of this study revealed that there were sex differences in self-esteem of adolescents. For both male and female adolescents, marital conflict was found to have negative effects on self-esteem. School adjustment of adolescents was found to be positively influenced by self-esteem. Marital conflict had negative direct effects on school adjustment only for male adolescents. Results indicated that self-esteem mediated in the effects of marital conflict on school adjustment for male and female adolescents. Implications for understanding the associations among marital conflict, children's self-esteem and adjustment in school contexts were discussed.

  • With the rapid spread of smartphones, it has become common to listen to music everywhere, just like background music in life, so it is necessary to create a music database that can make recommendations according to individual circumstances and conditions. This paper proposes a music recommendation model through social media. Since emotions, situations, time of day, weather, etc. are included in hashtags, it is possible to build a social media-based database that reflects the opinions of various people with collective intelligence. We use web crawling to collect and categorize different hashtags from posts with music title hashtags to use real listeners' opinions about music in a database. Data from social media is used to create a music database, and music is classified in a different way from collaborative filtering, which is mainly used by existing music platforms.

  • This study investigated the effects of self-esteem on the depression of baby boomer and eco-boomer generation (the children of baby boomers) living alone. It was identified from the point of view of comparison between the two groups. Using the 15th data of the 2020 Korea Welfare Panel, an independent sample t-test and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted with the data of baby boomers who live alone (born in 1955-1963) and eco-boomers who live alone (born in 1979-1992). The results of this study show that baby boomers who live alone had lower levels of education, income, and health condition than the eco-boomers who live alone, and had higher level of depression, but relatively lower level of self-esteem. In both groups, self-esteem had an effect on depression, but it was confirmed that the influence was greater in the group of baby boomers (Adjusted R2 .259) than in eco-boomers (Adjusted R2 .083). Based on the results of this study, practical and policy alternatives were suggested to prevent the depression among middle-aged, elderly people, and young adults who live alone.

Data from 482 middle school students of Seoul by self-reported questionnaires are analyzed for the study. The results of this study reveal that there are gender differences in aggression and peer relation of adolescents. For both male and female adolescents, parental conflict is positively related to aggression. Aggression is negatively associated with peer relations of adolescents. Parental conflict and peer relations of adolescents are negatively related. The results from regression analysis indicate that aggression mediates the relationship between parental conflict and peer relations for male and female adolescents. This results suggest the need to consider family experiences and emotional states for understanding of peer relationships in adolescents.
