  • Actuators using shape memory alloys use the one-way shape recovery stress. But when external load is applied the accumulated plastic strain induced by repeated deformation is the factor of generation of uncorrect recovery stress and unreliability. To solve this problem, two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) is considered. TWSME induced by plastic deformation have advantages including simple heating cycle without external force and enough recovery force for using actuators. but there is no research on cylinder-type or tube-type shape memory alloy actuators using two-way shape memory effect until now. Therefore in this study, characteristics of two-way shape memory effect is verified through the compression experiments using cylinder-type and tube-type specimens.

  • Objectives:For the purpose of obtaining the more vivid present status and prevention program of teenage pregnancy, this survey was done by Obstetricians, as study subject, who manage the pregnant teenager in real clinical situation. Methods:Structured survey form about teenage pregnancy was sent to 2,800 obstetricians. That form contained frequency, characteristics, decision making processes, and psychiatric aspects of the teenage pregnancy. 349 obstetricians replied that survey form and we analysed these datas. Results:(1) The trend of teenage pregnancy was mildly increased. (2) The most common cases were unwanted pregnancy by continuing sexual relationship with boyfriends rather than by forced, accidental sexual relationship with multiple partners. (3) The most common reason of labor was loss the time of artificial abotion. (4) Problems of pregnant girls' were conduct behaviors and poor informations about contraception rather than sexual abuse or mental retardation. (5) Most obstetricians percepted the necessity of psychiatric consultation, however psychiatric consultation was rare due to parents refusal and abscense of available psychiatric facility. (6) For the prevention of teenage pregnancy, the most important thing was practical education about contraception. Conclusions:Based on the result of this study, further study using structured interview schedule with pregnant girl is needed for the detecting risk factor of teenage pregnancy and effective systematic approach to pregnant girl.

  • In two experiments, we compared envy with admiration in attentional and motivational benefits. In addition, we tested whether individual differences in working memory capacity (WMC) have consequences for emotion regulation. In Study 1, following WMC tasks, the participants were primed either with envy or with admiration through a recall task, in which they had to recall their own experiences about envy or admiration. The participants in the envy condition considered it more undeserved that another person had an advantage over them, than in the admiration condition. Additionally, in the envy condition, WMC was related to happiness, and anxiety was related to the motivation to study more. In contrast, there were no significant relationships between WMC, emotion and study hours in the admiration condition. Study 2 (N=43) found greater memory for the envy scenario in the envy condition than in the admiration and in the control condition. Additionally, there were significant relationships between WMC, anxiety and recall accuracy in the envy condition. However, these relations were not found in the admiration and in the control condition. Findings implicate that envy may play an important role in memory systems and that WMC is related to emotion regulation abilities.

  • The first purpose of the present study is to investigate the way of displaying English words to facilitate phonological loops on the digital screen, and the second purpose is to test whether or not the more effective display type can increase learning rates equally in both low and high foreign language motivation group. To achieve these aims, two experiments were conducted. Experiment 1 showed that 3 times display condition generated higher performances in recall and recognition test than 1 time display condition did. In Experiment 2, we recruited high motivated group and low motivated group in foreign language learning, and assigned each member into 3 times display condition and self-pace condition. The results of Experiment 2 showed that the performance in the low motivated group was higher in the self-pace condition than in 3 times display condition, while this difference was not found in high motivated group. The present results suggest the display type increasing usage of phonological loops in digital screen environments.

  • This study investigated the navigation ability of patients with MCI in Virtual Environments(VE) and on the visual functioning. The participants consisted of elderly adults with/without MCI. Neuropsychological tests(RCFT, BVRT, TMT, and Digit Span), the Groton Maze Learning Test(12trials), and the VE navigation learning task(6 trials) were performed. As a result, there were significant group differences for the RCFT and BVRT, but not for the GMLT. For the VE task, there was a significant difference between the MCI and normal group and no interactions between the groups and trials were found. The VE task was correlated with The RCFT, the BVRT, and the GMLT and omnibus the RCFT and the BVRT accounted for 45% of VE performances. Thus, we concluded that patients with MCI are inferior to VE navigation and visual retention/memory play a role in navigation abilities.

  • This study identified the impact of augmented reality advertising on attitude toward advertising and memory according to the type of presence and flow level. The presence (cognitive, emotional, media) and flow level (high vs. low) of the augmented reality(AR) advertising were set as independent variables and analyzed by Two-Way MANOVA. As a result of the research, first, the augmented reality advertising attitude was positive when the emotional presence and flow level were high. Second, when the flow level is high, the ARM such as product attribute information increases, but when the flow level is low, the evaluation-oriented GRM increases. Third, emotional presence increases GRM when the flow level is high, but ARM increases when the flow level is low. Fourth, the memory effect was low regardless of the flow level. In the future research, it would be desirable to produce augmented reality advertisements through virtual brands in the generalization of research.
