A Generalized Procedure to Extract Higher Order Moments of Univariate Spatial Association Measures for Statistical Testing under the Normality Assumption (일변량 공간 연관성 측도의 통계적 검정을 위한 일반화된 고차 적률 추출 절차: 정규성 가정의 경우)

  • The main objective of this paper is to formulate a generalized procedure to extract the first four moments of univariate spatial association measures for statistical testing under the normality assumption and to evaluate the viability of hypothesis testing based on the normal approximation for each of the spatial association measures. The main results are as follows. First, predicated on the previous works, a generalized procedure under the normality assumption was derived for both global and local measures. When necessary matrices are appropriately defined for each of the measures, the generalized procedure effectively yields not only expectation and variance but skewness and kurtosis. Second, the normal approximation based on the first two moments for the global measures fumed out to be acceptable, while the notion did not appear to hold to the same extent for their local counterparts mainly due to the large magnitude of skewness and kurtosis.

Design of a Torque Application Device in Test Rig for a Wind Turbine Gearbox (풍력발전기용 증속기 시험 장비의 토크 인가 장치 설계)

  • This study was conducted to develop and verify a torque application device for use in a mechanical power-circulation test rig for 5.5 MW wind turbine gearboxes. The design and analysis of the torque application device was conducted. In addition, the torsional stiffness of the test rig was calculated using the rotational angle measurements for each of the components. The calculated stiffness of the test rig was $231.13kN{\cdot}m/rad$ for a clockwise torque application. The rated torque can be applied when the stiffness of the gearbox is greater than $1,064,400kN{\cdot}m/rad$ for a clockwise torque application. Because of the limited rotational angle of the test rig, the potential application of the rated torque is determined according to the torsional stiffness of the test gearbox.

Back-pressure cold forging analysis to minimize non-forming area of gear teeth (기어 치형의 미성형 구간 최소화를 위한 배압 냉간 단조 성형 해석)

  • This study performed the back-pressure cold forging analysis to minimize the non-forming area of gear teeth for the output hub and reaction hub in automatic transmission. Two important factors of the back-pressure cold forging process, the load of the punch and the backup force applied to the sleeve, were determined through displacement control analysis. The non-forming area of the gear teeth was compared with both cases of the displacement control analysis and load control analysis, and their solution is similar to the measuring result of a real workpiece. The results show that the load of the punch is dependent on the reduction area of the workpiece, and the backup force applied to the sleeve is determined with regard to the cross-section-area of sleeve. This analysis procedure can be useful and effective in determining the manufacturing condition of the back-pressure cold forging process to minimize the non-forming area.

  • An active steering bogie has been theoretically proved to improve both stability and steering performance remarkably. However, It has not been commercialized yet even though many researchers have been trying to develop it because some technical difficulties still exist such as information acquisition fer active control, increasing mechanical components, high energy consumption, fail-safe problem and so on. To solve those problems, an advanced active steering mechanism is proposed in this paper. With this mechanism, required control force is small enough to use direct drives. Therefore, the number of additional mechanical components can be minimized since mechanical transducers like gears are not necessary. Fail-safe function can be also inserted easily. In this paper, concept design of the proposed active steering bogie is introduced and the possibility is verified through computer simulation using linear dynamic model.

A Study on Structural Safety and Advanced Efficiency for a Drywell Type Reducer (누유방지형 감속기의 구조적 안전성 및 토크효율 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The reducer of the mixer is one of the main parts of the processor used for water and wastewater treatment. In this study, an advanced reducer with a drywell structure was developed in order to prevent oil leakage during operation in the field. During the development of the advanced reducer prototype, a mockup, a metal mold, and a cast were made using CAD and a CNC machine. The structural safety of the reducer prototype's lower housing (drywell structure) was checked using the ALGOR commercial FEM analysis code, which yielded a von Mises stress of about 123 N/mm2, which is below the yield stress of 250 N/$mm^2$, and a natural frequency of about 650-700 Hz. In addition, the torque transmission efficiency for the advanced prototype was 95.87%, which is about 8% more than that found in a previous study, 88.45%, and the sound level was below 75 dB. Furthermore, no oil leakage or abnormal sound or vibration occurred. Therefore, an optimally designed advanced reducer prototype has been successfully developed.

Treatment effects of the Teuscher appliance in skeletal Class II division 1 malocclusion (골격성 II급 1류 부정교합에서 Teuscher 장치의 치료효과)

  • Various methods have been used on patients with skeletal Class II division 1 malocclusion. The activator, Frankel appliance, headgear, Herbst appliance, and Twin-block appliance are some examples. The ideal treatment effect using these appliances would be to inhibit horizontal and vertical growth of the maxilla while promoting mandibular growth and obtaining optimum dentition. The Teuscher appliance has a simultaneous combined headgear effect with maxillary growth inhibition and an activator effect with mandibular growth promotion. The purpose of this study was to examine how well these effects were clinically obtained and the results are as follows. 1. The forward growth of the maxilla was effectively inhibited. 2. The downward-forward growth of the maxillary dentoalveolar complex was inhibited. 3. Growth promotion of the mandible was not observed. 4. The overjet, overbite, molar key were effectively improved. 5. The protruded upper lip and facial profile were unproved.

Comparison of Yield and Quality between Organic Cultivation and Conventional Cultivation in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Field (벼 유기재배와 관행재배의 수량과 품질 비교)

  • 본 연구에서는 2008년 전라남도 나주시 반남지역과 노안지역 두 곳의 벼 농가포장에서 유기재배 및 관행(일반)재배 시험을 수행하고 벼 병충해발생, 생육 및 수량, 그리고 쌀의 품위 및 품질을 비교 분석하였다. 시험의 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 벼 병충해 방제는 노안지역 관행재배는 2회, 반남지역 관행재배는 4회 실시하였으며 유기재배는 노안, 반남지역 모두 2회 실시하였다. 포장에서 벼 병해충은 줄무늬잎마름병, 잎도열병, 이삭도열병, 잎집무늬마름병, 흰잎마름병, 혹명나방, 멸구류가 주로 발생하였다. 벼 병해충 중 잎도열병, 이삭도열병, 혹명나방은 관행재배보다 유기재배에서 발생이 많았다. 2) 벼생육상황은 간장이나 수장은 관행재배에 비해 유기재배에서 약간 짧은 경향이었다. 노안지역은 유기재배의 경우 관행재배에 비해 주당수수는 0.6개 정도 많았으나 수당입수, 등숙비율, 정현비율, 현미 천립중이 낮았다. 반면 반남지역은 유기재배의 경우 관행재배에 비해 주당수수는 0.8개 정도 적었으나 수당입수와 등숙비율은 높았고 정현비율은 낮았다. 전체 수량은 유기재배가 관행재배에 비해 노안지역은 84% 수준이고, 반남지역은 94% 수준이었다. 3) 쌀의 품위는 노안지역과 반남지역 두 지역 모두 완전립율이 관행 재배보다 유기재배에서 낮은 경향을 보였다. 쌀의 품질은 반남지역의 경우 유기재배시 기비로 사용한 질소가 관행재배에 비해 많아서 늦게 비효가 발현되어 이삭도열병, 혹명나방 피해가 발생하여 관행재배에 비해 단백질, 취반미 윤기치값이 낮았다. 반면 노안지역의 경우 유기재배시 기비로 사용한 질소가 관행재배에 비해 적어서 관행재배보다 단백질, 백도, 취반미 윤기치 값 등에서 양호하게 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 소비자들에게 홍보하여 이들로부터 소비를 촉진케 함으로써 벼 유기재배 농가의 소득증대에 기어코자 한다.

Co-simulation of MultiBody Dynamics and Plenteous Sphere of Contacted Particles Using NVIDIA GPGPU (NVIDIA 의 GPGPU 를 이용한 수 많은 구형 접촉 입자가 포함된 다물체 동역학 해석)

  • In this study, a dynamic simulation model that considers many spherical particles and multibody dynamics (MBD) entities is developed. Plenteous spherical particles are solved using the Discrete Element Method (DEM) technique and simulated on a GPU board in a PC. A fast algorithm is used to calculate the Hertzian contact forces between many spherical particles, and NVIDIA CUDA is used to increase the calculation speed. The explicit integration method is applied to solve the many spheres. MBD entities are simulated by recursive formulation. Constraints are reduced by recursive formulation, and the implicit generalized alpha method is applied to solve the dynamic model. A new algorithm is developed to simulate the DEM and MBD models simultaneously. As a numerical example, a truck car model and gear model are developed. The results show that the proposed algorithm using a general-purpose GPU in a PC has many advantages.

Development of CODOG Propulsion System Simulator (CODOG 함정 추진체계 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Duties required for naval ship such as anti-submarine, anti-ship, and supply, etc are diversified, so the ECS (Enfineering Control System) is required for executing the mission effectively. The ECS monitors and controls the propulsion system in order that naval ship can perform the mission. As the in-country development of ECS is progressed, a test system for ECS is needed, and a naval ship propulsion system simulator based on CODOG was developed on this study. The naval ship propulsion system simulator based on CODOG which is divided into gas turbine model, diesel engine model, reduction gear model and controllable pitch propeller model, simulates to feedback of control commands of ECS. As a result of the experiment, it is able to confirm speed, torque and power, etc. of the gas turbine, diesel engine and shaft according to ECS propulsion mode.

Noise Reduction of Electric Vehicle using Passive Damping Material (수동형 패치를 이용한 전기차 소음 저감)

  • Cabin noise due to the electric powertrain of electrical vehicle may consists of motor noise caused by electrical mismatch and gear noise coming from reduction gearbox. These sound may be considered rather small noise compared to those of internal combustion engine, but without masking effect, the noise can be more annoying for customer. Thus, this paper demonstrates the characteristics of electrical vehicle powertrain noise, and the effect of passive damping material for the noise reduction. The typical motor noise can be affected by the motor torque. Also, it is demonstrated that the reduction gearbox may be a weak point for the noise path compared to the motor housing. With vehicle test, it is shown that the damping patch is more effective for noise reduction with deceleration condition than with acceleration condition.
