As well, the number of cloud-based application services by on-demand processing of virtual machines is increasing. However, remote sensing applications using these two huge trends are globally on the initial stage. This study presents a practical linkage case with both aspects of OGC-based standard and cloud computing. Performance test is performed with the implementation result for cloud detection processing. Test objects are WPS 2.0 and two types of geo-based service environment such as web server in a single core and multiple virtual servers implemented on OpenStack cloud computing environment. Performance test unit by JMeter is five requests of GetCapabilities, DescribeProcess, Execute, GetStatus, GetResult in WPS 2.0. As the results, the performance measurement time in a cloud-based environment is faster than that of single server. It is expected that expansion of processing algorithms by WPS 2.0 and virtual processing is possible to target-oriented applications in the practical level.

  • Signboard plays a pivotal role in crafting the initial impression of a storefront and contributing to the overall aesthetics of the local environment. Since 2012, the South Korean government has been annually implementing signboard improvement projects as part of its commitment to enhance urban landscapes and invigorate local business districts. Particularly noteworthy in recent years is the government's emphasis on creating signborad that aligns with the characteristics of the cities. This study aimed to investigate the impact on stores and the local area when incorporating local characteristics into signboard, with a focus on the mediating roles of informativeness, entertainment, and irritation. A survey was conducted among 150 undergraduate and graduate students who had experience visiting areas with improved signboard. The findings indicate that local fit of signboards has a positive impact on intention to visit store and area by mediating informativeness and entertainment. On the other hand, irritation does not exert a significant influence within this structural relationship. The results of this study contribute to broadening the scholarly understanding of signboards and signboard improvement, highlighting the importance of incorporating local characteristics into signboard to small business owners and local government practitioners.

  • Methane, which is emitted from natural and anthropogenic sources, is a representative greenhouse gas for global warming. Methanotrophs are widespread in the environment and play an important role in the biological oxidation of methane via methane monooxygenases (MMOs), key enzymes for methane oxidation with broad substrate specificity. Methanotrophs have attracted attention as multifunctional bacteria with promising applications in biological methane mitigation technology and environmental bioremediation. In this review, we have summarized current knowledge regarding the biodiversity of methanotrophs, catalytic properties of MMOs, and high-cell density cultivation technology. In addition, we have reviewed the recent advances in biological methane mitigation technologies using methanotrophs in field-scale systems as well as in lab-scale bioreactors. We have also surveyed information on the dynamics of the methanotrophic community in biological systems and discussed the various challenges pertaining to methanotroph-related biotechnological innovation, such as identification of suitable methanotrophic strains with better and/or novel metabolic activity, development of high-cell density mass cultivation technology, and the microbial consortium (methanotrophs and non-methanotrophs consortium) design and control technology.

  • This study focused on defining concepts such as biology push (biology-based biomimicry) and technology pull (technology problem-based biomimicry) in the multidisciplinary field of ecological imitation and analyzing the status of related research and technology at the domestic and international levels. From an ecological point of view, biomimicry is defined as ecological mimicry in which ideas obtained through classification and investigation of principles of biology and ecology are applied to the concepts of engineering and technology. We also defined the biology push as the ecological imitation based on biological characteristics starting from an ecological viewpoint and technology pull as the ecological imitation based on technical problems starting from technical needs. Although biomimicry studies often focus on the technology development by finding stable and eco-friendly source materials from biological and ecological characteristics, we wanted to emphasize the unlimited potential of research of biomimicry that can begin with an idea based on biological and ecological characteristics. This study presents the need to develop the research and technology further based on the biological and ecological viewpoints that can contribute to future sustainable development.
