Schooling, Technology-specific Training and Economic Growth: a Theoretical Approach in a Model of Endogenous Innovation (학교교육과 기술특화교육의 기술혁신 및 경제성장효과: 내생적 기술혁신모형에서 이론적 접근)

  • This paper introduces household's decision for schooling and firm's decision for technology-specific training together into the second generation model of endogenous innovation, and analyses how schooling and technology-specific training interact each other, how they respectively affect innovation and economic growth, and also how the portfolio mix of schooling and technology-specific training changes as economy becomes more innovative. Main results are as follows: First, schooling and technology-specific training both have "inverted-U"shape growth effects. Second, schooling investment per labor required for growth maximization is always greater than that for firm profit maximization. Third, the optimal schooling for growth maximization decreases with technology-specific training. Fourth, the schooling effect on technology-specific training is "U"shaped, so that for firm's profit maximization schooling is substitutable for technology-specific training at the relatively lower level of schooling but complementary at its relatively higher level. Fifth, as economy becomes more innovative, the portfolio mix of education changes in favor of schooling.

The Structural relationship among Commitment to Change, Needs of Technology Education Innovation, Communication and Self-Efficacy of Technology Teachers (교육환경 변화에 따른 기술교사의 변화몰입과 기술교육혁신 요구, 커뮤니케이션 및 자기효능감의 구조적 관계 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify a causal relationship among commitment to change, needs of technology education innovation, communication and self-efficacy of technology teachers. A total of 300 copies of questionnaires were used for data analysis except for 117 copies like the one where insincerely responds to any question was found. To ensure the reliability and validity of questions, I performed technical statistics like average, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis via PASW 18.0, item-total correlation and the totality, and reliability analysis. I undertook a confirmatory factor analysis via AMOS 7.0 to ensure the validity of items together with a structural analysis to perform a path analysis among variables and assess the suitability of model. The major finding of this study were as follows: First, because fit index of hypothetical model generally met standards in this study, a hypothetical model was judged appropriately. Second, needs of technology education innovation had a positive effect on communication and commitment to change of technology teachers. And, communication among technology teachers had a positive effect on commitment to change of technology teachers. This result means that communication among technology teachers is important to activation of technology education. Third, self-efficacy had a positive effect on commitment to change of technology teachers. This result means that it needs to raise self-efficacy level through teacher education.

  • This paper investigates the effect of Team Member Exchange Quality (TMX) and technology management education on innovative behavior mediating effects of Empowerment. Innovation behavior is necessary for the continuous innovation of the organization. To that end, this paper investigates the relationship among TMX, technology management education, empowerment, and innovation behavior. Independent variables are TMX and technology management education; dependent variable is innovative behavior; and mediating variable is empowerment. The hypotheses of this paper are as follows. First, team members with a high quality of TMX will generate more innovation behavior. Second, innovation behavior will be created if team members receive a lot of technology innovation education. Third, empowerment will have a mediating effect on the relationship between TMX, technology innovation education and innovation behavior. To test these hypotheses, questionnaires were distributed and thoroughly analyzed using correlation analysis, multiple regression, and mediating effect analysis. Until now, there have been many previous studies investigating innovative behavior; however, this paper is still meaningful in that this study focused on the effects of TMX and Technology management education on innovative behavior mediating the effects of empowerment.
