An ultra-compact Wilkinson power divider MMIC with an improved isolation characteristic employing RCR design method (RCR 삽입법에 의해 설계된 높은 절연특성을 가지는 초소형 MMIC용 윌킨슨 전력분배기)

  • In this work, using a ${\pi}$-type multiple coupled microstrip line structure (MCMLS) and RCR (Resistor Capacitor Resistor) structure, we fabricated ultra-compact and high isolation Wilkinson power divider on GaAs MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit). The line length of the Wilkinson power divider was reduced to about ${\lambda}$/46, and its size was 0.304 [$mm^2$], which is 12.1 % of conventional one. Compared with conventional Wilkinson power divider, isolation characteristic of the proposed Wilkinson power divider was highly improved by using RCR insertion method. The proposed Wilkinson power divider showed good RF performances in C/X band.

A Miniaturized and Band Rejection Characteristic of Bow-Tie Monopole UWB Antenna (보우-타이 모노폴 UWB 안테나의 소형화 및 대역 저지 특성)

  • In this paper, a miniaturized bow-tie monopole UWB antenna with band rejection characteristic is proposed. To miniaturize the proposed antenna, a perfect magnetic wall(PMW) condition is applied to primitive bow-tie monopole antenna. An uneven ground patch, a tapered feeding structure and a edge-chopped main patch are adapted for impedance matching. A quater-lambda slot resonator is inserted at main patch to prevent interference in UWB band from another band. The proposed antenna is fabricated on Taconic RF60-A substrate with relative permittivity of 6.15. The size of the proposed antenna is $30.0{\times}39.7mm^2$, which is only 45 % of the conventional bow-tie monopole antenna. The proposed antenna covers full UWB band with return losses less than -10 dB and has band stop characteristic in 5 GHz WLAN band. The maximum gains are within -1.0~5.0 dBi, the group delay variations are within 1.0 ns and the radiation patterns show directivity characteristics in x-y plane.

  • 변압기의 고체 절연이 열화 되거나 불순물 및 수분이 혼입되어 임계치 이상의 고전계가 인가되면 결합부분에서 부분방전이 발생한다. 현재 변압기에서 부분방전을 검출하기 위해서는 부싱탭을 이용하거나 전류센서, 초음파센서 등을 이용하여 부분방전을 검출하고 있지만 전기적인 부싱탭이나 전류센서를 이용한 검출 방법은 주변 잡음의 영향을 많이 받고 초음파법은 감도가 낮다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이에, UHF 방식을 이용한 부분방전 검출 기술이 전력기기의 초기 고장진단을 발견하는 효과적인 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 최근에는 이러한 UHF 진단방식의 높은 감도, 외부노이즈에 대한 적은 영향, 온라인 측정의 가능성의 장점으로 전력용 변압기에도 적용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전력 변압기에서 PD 진단에 적합한 UHF 센서의 개발에 대해서 소개한다. 제안된 UHF 센서는 광대역(500 ~ 1,500MHz)에서 측정이 가능하며 감도가 우수하며 특정 대역에서 공진점을 가지는 다중 공진 모노폴 안테나 타입이다. 안테나 시뮬레이션 및 해석을 통해 유중 부분방전을 모의하여 감도 측정을 실시한 결과 제안된 UHF 센서가 전력용 변압기의 부분방전 측정에서 높은 감도를 나타냈으며, 기존 측정 방식의 단점을 보완할 수 있는 방안으로서 전자파를 이용한 부분방전 측정에 대한 기초연구를 실시하여 변압기 운전중에 전자파 측정에 의한 부분방전 감시가 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Transient kinetics of $NH_3$ adsorption/desorption and of SCR(selective catalytic reduction) of NO with $NH_3$ were studied over vanadium based catalysts, such as $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ and $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$. In the present catalytic reaction process, NO adsorption is neglected while $NH_3$ is strongly chemisorbed on the catalytic surface. Accordingly, it is ruled out the possibility of a reaction between strongly adsorbed $NH_3$ and NO species in line with the hypothesis of an Eley-Rideal mechanism. The present kinetic model assumes; (1) non-activated $NH_3$ adsorption, (2) Temkin-type $NH_3$ coverage dependence of the desorption energy, (3) non-linear dependence of the SCR reaction rate on the $NH_3$ surface coverage. Thus, the surface heterogeneity for adsorption/desorption of $NH_3$ is taken into account in this model. The present study extends the pure chemical kinetic model based on a powdered-phase catalytic system to the chemico-physical one applicable to a realistic monolith reactor.

A Study on Analysis of Characteristics Combustion of Floor Covering Materials (바닥내장재의 연소특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we analyzed the combustion characteristics of four different floor covering materials(wood, monorium, laminatedpaper, and varnish-laminated paper) with regard to their ignitibility, thermal characteristics and flame retardancy by using an ignition temperature tester, a dual cone calorimeter, a thermogravimetric analyzer and limited oxygen index, for their fire risk assessment. According to the result, monorium had the lowest ignition temperature of $325^{\circ}C$ and the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper promptly ignited before 7s. Further, the wood showed the largest total heat release of $100MJ/m^2$, and the varnish-laminated paper showed the highest peak heat release rate. From the thermogravimetric analysis, it was shown that all specimens underwent rapid weight loss at $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$. The limit oxygen indices of the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper were in the range of 20~21%, while it was 34% for wood. This study enabled us to confirm that wood, laminated paper and varnish-laminated paper have a relatively short ignition time and are easy to burn but they all have low heat release. In contrast, wood showed the lowest fire risk among them and had excellent flame retardancy but with high heat release.

Autothermal Reforming Reaction at Fuel Process Systems of 1Nm3/h (1 Nm3/h급 연료 변환시스템에서 메탄의 자열 개질반응)

  • The autothermal reforming of methane to syngas has been carried out in a reactor charged with both a Ni (15 wt%)-Ru (1 wt%)/$Al_2O_3$-MgO metallic monolith catalyst and an electrically-heated convertor (EHC). The standalone type reactor has a start-up time of less than 2 min with the reactant gas of $700^{\circ}C$ fed to the autothermal reactor. The $O_2/CH_4$ and $H_2O/CH_4$ ratio governed the methane conversion and temperature profile of reactor. The reactor temperature increased as the reaction shifted from endothermic to exothermic reaction with decreasing $H_2O/CH_4$ ratio. Also the amount of $CO_2$ in the products increases with increasing $H_2O/CH_4$ ratio due to water gas shift reaction. The 97% of $CH_4$ conversion was obtained and the reactor temperature was maintained $600^{\circ}C$ at the condition of $GHSV=10,000\;h^{-1}$ and feed ratio ($H_2O/CH_4=0.6$ and $O_2/CH_4=0.5$). In this condition, the maximum flow rate of the syngas generated from the reactor charged with 170 cc of the metallic monolith catalyst is $0.94\;Nm^3/h$.

A Temperature Difference-to-Frequency Converter Using Resistence Temperature Detectors (측온 저항체 온도센서를 이용한 온도차-주파수 변환기)

  • A novel temperature difference-to-frequency converter using two resistance temperature detectors (RTD) has been developed. The resistance difference of two RTD is converted into its equivalent inductance to form the resonant circuit of the Colpitts oscillator. The conversion sensitivity of 16 Hz/$^{\circ}C$ and the residual nonlinearity less than 2.15% over the temperature difference range from 35$^{\circ}C$ to 155$^{\circ}C$ are obtained by the prototype converter. The frequency drift of oscillator itself is $\pm$ 0.5Hz. Thus, the minimum detectable temperature difference is estimated to be $\pm$ 0.013$^{\circ}C$. The proposed coverter, except for two RTD, can be fabricated in monolithic IC form.

  • In this paper, we have developed a retrodirective active array operating in the 2 GHz LS band. The retrodirective array has the property of re-directing any electromagnetic wave back to the incoming direction without any priory informations. The system is consisted of frequency mixers and antenna array. The mixer is acting as a phase conjugator. In this research, 2-port gate mixers using pHEMT and 1${\times}$4 monopole array have been used. The retrodirective array developed in this research can be applied in the base station facilities for the wireless mobile communications and RFID transponders.

  • 이 논문에서는 AD 변화기의 앞에 설치되는 샘플-앤드-홀드 회로의 비선형성을 보상하기 위해 신경 회로망 기법과 볼테라 급수 모델을 직접적으로 적용하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법들의 성능을 비교하기 위해, 볼테라 급수 모델에 기반을 둔 전통적인 p차 역산 방식의 결과와 비교 검토한다. 비교 검토를 위해서는 모노-톤과 투-톤 신호를 사용하여 출력의 고조파 및 혼변조 레벨을 살펴보았다. p차 역산 방식이 역 시스템을 구하는 것이라면 제안하는 기법들은 최적화 기법에 바탕을 두고 있다고 할 수 있다. 결과를 보면 어떤 한 방식이 다른 방식보다 성능이 월등하다고 할 수 없는데, 그 이유는 각 방식마다 나름대로의 장단점을 갖고 있기 때문이다. 보상 방식의 선택은 신호의 통계적 성질, 신호 레벨, 비선형성의 정도 등을 고려해야 한다.
