The Concept and Assessment of River Continuity: Review of Global Trends for Domestic Application (하천 연속성의 개념과 평가: 국외 사례 비교를 통한 국내 적용성 고찰)

  • Recently, Korean government has incorporated the assessment and restoration of river continuity as a key component of its integrated water management policy. While, methodologies for evaluating discontinuities and degradation, as well as the procedures for assessment and restoration, have been developed and proposed, there is a need for further improvement. Therefore, further research is required to establish a conceptual framework for continuity specific to domestic river ecosystems and to formulate appropriate assessment methods and restoration strategies. In this study we conduct a comparative analysis of the concepts, restoration approaches, and comprehensive evaluation methods for river continuity as proposed by Japan, the United States, and the European Union (EU), all of which have long-standing frameworks for river continuity assessment and restoration projects. Each country demonstrates distinct objectives and guidelines: Japan emphasizes habitat continuity within the context of river and watershed continuity, the United States integrates continuity as a tool for watershed management, and the EU prioritizes biodiversity conservation by advocating for the removal of artificial barriers and promoting the restoration of free-flowing rivers (FFR). By investigating these international examples, this study provides insights that can guide the development of long-term strategies and evaluation criteria for securing aquatic ecosystem continuity in Korea.

  • 인터넷의 사용자 수는 매년 급격히 증가하고 있으며, 사회 전반에 걸쳐 인터넷에 대한 의존도도 더욱 높아가고 있으나, 현재 인터넷 환경에서는 사용자에 대한 서비스의 지연 및 단절 사태가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 이에 대한 원인으로는 네트워크 자체보다는 서버에 의한 지연 현상이 더 심각한 것으로 보고되고 있다. 인터넷의 수요 및 전송량의 폭증에 따라 인터넷 서버의 병목현상이 더욱 심화될 것으로 예상됨에 따라, 인터넷 환경의 신뢰성 증대 및 성능 향상을 위해서는 인터넷 서버성능의 효과적인 관리가 중요하다. 현재 ISP들은 웹, 전자메일, FTP, DNS, Proxy 등 다양한 서비스를 제공하기 위해 다수의 호스트들을 사용하고 있으며, 이러한 다수의 서버 시스템 관리를 위해서 많은 관리비용을 소모하고 있다. 그러나 지금까지의 인터넷 서버 관리 시스템들은 웹 중심의 서비스 관리와 로그 분석 기능만을 지원하고, 서버 시스템 자체의 성능관리 기능은 매우 미약한 형편이다. 본 논문에서는 인터넷 서버의 성능 메트릭을 정의하고, 인터넷 서버 성능 모니터링 시스템을 설계한다.

Robustness Evaluation of Tactical Network based on SNA

  • Network robustness is one of the most important characteristics needed as the network. Over the military tactical communication network, robustness is a key function for maintaining attack phase constantly. Tactical Information Communication Network, called TICN, has mixed characteristics of lattice- and tree-type network topology, which looks somewhat weak in the viewpoint of network robustness. In this paper, we search articulation points and bridges in a current Tactical Information Communication Network using graph theory. To improve the weak points empirically searched, we try to add links to create the concrete network and then observe the change of network-based verification values through diminishing nodes. With these themes, we evaluate the generated networks through SNA techniques. Experimental results show that the generated networks' robustness is improved compared with current network structure.

Improvement of wireless communications environment of Web-pad on board Yard tractor in container terminal use convergence technology (융복합 기술을 이용하는 컨테이너 항만에서 야드 트랙터에 탑재된 웹-패드의 무선통신 환경 개선 방안)

  • The container terminals use convergence technology that exchange information for cargo work, using wireless communication between the TOS(Terminal Operations System) and the handling equipments(CC, TC, YT). But if the container cargoes pile up high in the container yard, delayed cargo work and cargo working list information error happen because of communication dead spots(the worker can not receive the information) which wireless communication is disconnected. At this time the driver of the yard tractor(YT) must be able to recognize the communication state. If then, delayed cargo work and cargo working list information errors that occur in the shaded communication area can be avoided, and can process the delayed work due to wireless communication break. In this project, we have built wireless communication environment to increase the efficiency of the loading and unloading operations which the operator can respond actively, when the work is delayed and work orders result in errors. That is, the flow of the wireless communication module has been changed.

  • 본 논문은 PMIPv6 기반 무선 네트워크 환경에서 입체영상을 송수신하는 멀티인터페이스 이동노드의 핸드오버 수행 시 손실을 최소화하기 위한 MPTCP 기반의 입체영상 전송기법을 제안하다. 제안하는 입체영상 전송 기법은 입체영상 단말 이동 시 멀티인터페이스 간 입체영상으로 정의된 플로우의 플로우 이동성이 수행되며 플로우 이동성 발생 시 단대단 연결 단절 현상을 MPTCP Sublflow 기능을 통해 극복한다. 기존 기법에 비해 제안하는 기법은 데이터 손실 및 단대단 지연을 최소화하며 이동성 환경에서 입체영상의 좌우영상 싱크문제를 극복하는 방법이다.

  • In modern society the architecture surface involves a lot of meaning other than having simple physical functions. The interface space generated by the surface characteristics among those becomes to have many significances in modern society, and plays a role of symbolic space of a city. The interface space is threshold space that connects two separate spaces and revitalize its states. Nowadays, people have many chances to communicate each other through the interface space and also settle urban problems caused by spacial and functional discontinuity through the interface space. However, the interface space in Korea could not be built up well due to rapid growth of cities, and a lot of different natures in space and viewpoint have been appeared accordingly, which gives rise to a problem of the discontinuity of urban spaces. Therefore, this study aims at the research on the characteristics of interface space through architecture surface composing the major factor of a city; architecture integument in Nam-po Dong, Jung Gu, Busan City as the object of the study.

A Study on Efficient Design of Surveillance RADAR Interface Control Unit in Naval Combat System

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient surveillance RADAR(RAdio Detection And Ranging) interface control unit(ICU) design in the naval combat system. The proposed design applied a standardized architecture for modules that can be shared in ship combat system software. An error detection function for each link was implemented to increase the recognition speed of disconnection. Messages that used to be sent periodically for human-computer interaction(HCI) are now only transmitted when there is a change in the datagram. This can reduce the processing load of the console. The proposed design supplements the radar with the waterfall scope and time-limited splash recognition in relation to the hit check and zeroing of the shot when the radar processing ability is low due to the adoption of a low-cost commercial radar in the ship. Therefore, it is easy for the operator to determine whether the shot is hit or not, the probability of wrong recognition can be reduced, and the radar's resources can be obtained more effectively.

  • Road construction has been worked on by focusing on cost effectiveness such as the reduction of construction costs without understanding the natural environment and ecosystems. In addition, since ecosystems have been destroyed and the habitats of animals and plants have been isolated, wild animals have sought other habitats or have moved into isolated habitats. Thus, issues such as roadkills or the extermination of species are increasingly occurring. Based on this background, the development and application of a general assessment method need to be researched in order to verify whether or not spaces or habitats where animals can be inhabited and their species can be maintained exist. The purpose of this study is to develop an ecosystem map where a conservation value evaluation method considering the functions of an ecosystem where animals live as well as the naturalness of ecosystems is used and can be made into a drawing. The items applied to evaluate the habitat conservation values were naturalness, rarity, and functionality, and sub-items for evaluation were created. GIS as well as the evaluation items were used to create a digital map about the level of importance based on the evaluation criteria. The created digital map showed that it was not limited to the adjustment or distribution of the fauna and flora but was applicable for a general ecosystem evaluation method for the conservation of habitats. It is expected that the isolation of habitats would be able to be minimized if the digital map is used for road construction projects. The digital map is deemed to be able to be used for the construction of environmentally friendly roads, which will minimize the destruction of ecosystems and the isolation of habitats for creatures.

An Efficient Algorithm for Causal Message Delivery in Distributed Mobile Systems (분산 이동 시스템에서 인과적 메시지 전달을 위한 효율적인 알고리즘)

  • 분산 이동 시스템은 단순한 통신 기능에서 작업 흐름 관리, 화상회의, 전자 메일과 같은 서비스를 제공하는 시스템으로 급속히 확대.발전하고 있으며, 이들 어플리케이션들은 사용자의 요구를 반영하기 위해 메시지를 인과적 순서로 전달해야 한다. 인과적 메시지 전달을 제공하는 기존의 방법들은 많은 피기백(piggyback) 정보로 인한 통신 오버헤드 혹은 어플리케이션으로 전달하는 메시지의 지연, 이동 호스트의 증가에 대한 비확장성 등의 문제점이 있다. 이 논문은 기지국과 이동 호스트 사이의 종속 정보 행렬을 기지국이 유지하며, 즉각 선행자 메시지(immdiate predecessor message)에 대한 종속 정보만을 각 메시지에 피기백하는 방법을 통하여 기존 기법의 문제점을 해결하는 효율적인 인과적 메시지 전달 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 이전의 알고리즘들과 비교해서 낮은 메시지 오버헤드를 가지며, 메시지를 전달할 때의 불필요한 지연(inhibition)이 발생하지 않는다. 또한 제안된 알고리즘은 이동 호스트의 에너지 사용에 대한 제약성, 무선 통신의 낮은 대역폭, 이동 호스트 수의 증가에 대한 확장성, 무선 통신의 잦은 접속 단절과 같은 요소를 고려한다.

Experimental Study on Engineering Performance Evaluation and Field Performance of Environmentally Friendly Functional Concrete (친환경 기능성 콘크리트의 공학적 성능평가 및 현장적용성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the physical, mechanical, structural, and environmental performances based on field measured data were evaluated to check the suitability of concrete for ecological preservation and cultivation of a hydrophilic environment. More specifically, the study is focused on developing an environmentally friendly functional concrete with river ecology restoration and natural river early formation capabilities. The mechanical performance evaluation results showed that the increase in mix rate of the PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol) reinforcement fibers and silica fume caused an increase in the strength. The optimal mix rate was found to be 0.05 volume % PVA fiber and approximately 10% silica fume. The frost resistance evaluation showed that superior performance was gained when 0.05 volume % PVA fiber and 15% silica fume was mixed simultaneously. In the structural performance evaluation, the bending strength was improved by 47.7% compared to plain concrete when mixed with 0.05 volume % PVA fiber. The flexural toughness also saw significant improvement. The environmental monitoring of field performance showed that grasses germinated most rapidly, but the growth of red poppies, a plant that germinates in the spring, was most active with passing of time. Coverage measurements in all of the monitoring locations found favorable coverage of over 95% after 12 weeks. The study results showed that the environmentally friendly functional concrete had outstanding environmental performance.
