Conceptual Design of Mechanical System for Recovery of Seabed-Deposited Hazardous and Noxious Substances Based on Performance Requirements (해저침적 HNS 회수용 기계장치의 성능요건 기반 개념설계)

  • Hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) may cause maritime incidents during marine transportation, which are liable to lead to a large amount of spillage or discharge into the sea. The damage to the marine environment caused by the HNS spill or discharge is known to be much greater than the damage caused by oil spill. Particularly dangerous is HNS, which is deposited or buried in the seabed, as it can damage the organisms that live on, in, and near the bottom of the sea, the so-called "benthos," forming the benthic ecosystem. Therefore, it is vital that the HNS deposited on the seabed be recovered. In order to do so, procedures and equipment are required for accurate detection, stabilization treatment, and recovery of HNS in subsea sediment. Thus, when developing a mechanical recovery system, the performance requirements should be selected using performance indices, and the conceptual design of the mechanical recovery system should be based on performance requirements decided upon and selected in advance. Therefore, this study was conducted to arrive at a conceptual design for a mechanical recovery system for the recovery of HNS deposited on the seabed. In the design of the system, based on the fundamental scenario, the method of suction foundation with the function of self enclosing was adopted for recovering the HNS sediment in the subsea sediment. The mechanical recovery system comprises the suction foundation, pollution prevention, a pump system, control system, monitoring device, location information device, transfer device, and tanks. This conceptual design is expected to be reflected and used in the basic design of the components and shapes of the mechanical recovery system.

An Study on Estimating Cargo Handling Equipment Emission in the Port of Incheon (인천항 하역장비 대기오염물질 배출량 산정 연구)

  • Currently, in-port emissions are a serious problem in port cities. However, emissions, especially non-greenhouse gases, from the operation of cargo handling equipment (CHE) have received significant attention from scientific circles. This study estimates the amount of emissions from on-land port diesel-powered CHE in the Port of Incheon. With real-time activity data provided by handling equipment operating companies, this research applies an activity-based approach to capture an up-to-date and reliable diesel-powered CHE emissions inventory during 2017. As a result, 105.6 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), 243.2 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx), 0.005 tons of sulfur oxide (Sox), 22.8 tons of particulate matter (PM), 26.0 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and 0.2 tons of ammonia (NH3) were released from the landside CHE operation. CO and NOx emissions are the two primary air pollutants from the CHE operation in the Port of Incheon, contributing 87.71% of the total amount of emissions. Cranes, forklifts, tractors, and loaders are the four major sources of pollution in the Port of Incheon, contributing 84.79% of the total in-port CHE emissions. Backward diesel-powered machines equipped in these CHE are identified as a key cause of pollution. Therefore, this estimation emphasizes the significant contribution of diesel CHE to port air pollution and suggests the following green policies should be applied: (1) replacement of old diesel powered CHE by new liquefied natural gas and electric equipment; (2) the use of NOx reduction after-treatment technologies, such as selective catalytic reduction in local ports. In addition, a systematic official national emission inventory preparation method and consecutive annual in-port CHE emission inventories are recommended to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of green policies conducted in the future.

  • The Equipment Expenses section of the Poom-Saem that is used for Construction Cost Estimation of public sectors in Korea has been rarely revised, and so does not reflect changes of Construction Equipment technology and construction methods, since it was established based on data from Japan and the U.S in the early 1960s. In order to make reasonable estimation of equipment expenses for a bulldozer and a loader, the domestic and overseas documentary records were investigated. Further, 16 construction sites were visited, and 20 Construction Equipment leasing services were surveyed. The optimum level of each item which consists of equipment costs was revealed based on the result of the analysis on the figures of equipment costs calculation from the Poom-Saem and the collected data. The research will be the foundation for applying the rapid development of Construction Equipment and technology to the appropriate cost estimations and the ground work of related studies.

  • Tunnel modelling in the field of geotechnical engineering essentially requires models of tunnelling machines and the simulation of tunnelling processes to clarify the detailed behaviour of tunnel construction. Modern advanced mechatronics, including construction processes, machinining and control technologies, are making it possible to fabricate such models. These technologies, however, are essentially developed in a gravity field condition and are needed to examine in a 1g or cenrifuge field condition. This paper presents the simulation method for tunnelling processes and the design method for tunnelling machines with special reference to the problem of earth pressure acting on the lining of a shield tunnel. The paper then introduces and verifies the design method for tunnelling machines in the 1g field by means of checking the reproduceability of experiment data and their comparison with data in the field.

  • Cu는 금속 박막재료로서 높은 전기전도성을 지니고 있을 뿐만 아니라 Ag, Al, Pt 등 보다 비용이 저렴하여, 높은 전기전도성을 필요로 하는 박막 재료로써 폭넓게 사용되고 있다. 그러나, 낮은 기계적 특성을 지니고 있어서 interconnect와 같은 작은 단면적의 배선재료로 사용될 경우, 높은 전류밀도에 따른 electromigration 현상에 의하여 hillock 또는 void의 형성 등 박막재료의 변형이 생기게 되어서 전자소자의 수명이 단축된다는 단점이 있다. TiN은 금속재료 못지않은 높은 전기 전도성을 지니고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 금속재료에 비하여 높은 기계적 특성과 녹는점을 지니고 있어 다양한 분야로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Cu와 TiN composite 박막을 soda-lime glass위에 증착하여 낮은 비저항 뿐만 아니라 Cu와 비교하여 기계적 특성이 향상된 박막을 제작하고자 하였다. Cu와 TiN composite 박막 증착을 위하여 DC reactive magnetron co-sputtering 장비를 사용하였으며, Cu와 Ti 타겟 power, Ar:N2 유량비(Flow rate)을 변화시켜 Cu와 Ti의 조성비 및 TiN의 결정성을 조절하였고, 이를 통하여 박막의 TiN 조성에 따른 낮은 비저항 값과 순수한 Cu 박막과 비교하여 높은 기계적 특성을 지닌 Cu-TiN 박막을 증착하였다. Cu-TiN composite 박막의 구조 및 조성은 SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectrometer), XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy)장비를 사용하여 분석하였으며, 전기전도도는 4-point probe를 사용하여 측정하였고, Knoop hardness 측정방법을 사용하여 박막의 기계적 특성을 측정하였다.

  • 본 연구는 운영 조건이 달라짐에 따라 회전수가 변하는 기기의 정상적 가동 여부와 고장 종류를 판별하기 위한 인공지능 알고리즘의 적용을 다루고 있다. 회전수가 변하는 장비로부터 계측된 상태 모니터링 센서의 신호는 비정상(non-stationary)적 특성이 있으므로, 상태 신호의 한계치가 고장 판별의 기준이 되기 어렵다는 점을 해결하고자 하였다. 정상 가동 여부는 이상 감지에 효율적인 오토인코더 및 기계학습 알고리즘을 적용하였으며, 고장 종류 판별에는 기계학습법과 합성곱 기반의 심층학습 방법을 적용하였다. 변하는 회전수와 연계된 주파수의 비정상적 시계열도 적절한 고장 특징 (Feature)로 대변될 수 있도록 시간 및 주파수 영역에서 특징 벡터를 구성할 수 있음을 예제로 설명하였다. 차원 축소 및 카이 제곱 기법을 적용하여 최적의 특징 벡터를 추출하여 기계학습의 분류 알고리즘이 비정상적 회전 신호를 가진 장비의 고장 예측에 활용될 수 있음을 보였다. 이 과정에서 k-NN(k-Nearest Neighbor), SVM(Support Vector Machine), Random Forest의 기계학습 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 또한 시계열 기반의 오토인코더 및 CNN (Convolution Neural Network) 적용하여 이상 감지와 고장진단을 수행한 결과를 비교하여 제시하였다.

  • 시퀀스제어는 제조, 유통, 건설, 의료 산업분야의 기계, 전기, 전자, 자동화 등에 응용되어 널리 사용하고 있다. 4차산업의 발전으로 제어분야에 인공지능 융합 기술이 산업에 중요한 요소가 되어가고 있다. 특히 기존 시스템에 마이크로프로세서와 인공지능이 융합된 설비의 안전성과 혁신성을 평가하고 신뢰성 높은 장비개발이 요구되고 있어 교육목적의 장비를 개발하여 해당분야의 발전을 견인하고자 한다. 자체 개발한 일체형 인공지능 컨트롤러 모듈은 기존의 시퀀스 및 PLC제어 회로에 인공지능 능력을 융합한 장비이다. 본 장비의 성능평가항목으로 동작, 음성, 문자, 색상 등의 인식 능력과 회로의 안정성, 신뢰성을 평가하였다. 시퀀스 및 PLC 회로를 설계 후 융합된 일체형 인공지능 컨트롤러 모듈의 성능평가항목이 모두 만족하였고 회로의 안전성과 신뢰성에 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

Convenient and Economic Mechatronics Education Using Small Portable Electronic Devices (휴대용 소형 전자장비를 이용한 편리하고 경제적인 메카트로닉스 교육)

  • Although mechatronics education in a mechanical engineering curriculum is recently recognized as important, its experimental education has been done generally in the laboratory equipped with all the apparatus and could not be done at home by students. This paper introduces experimental educations on mechatronics, e.g., digital logic circuits, 7-segment LED drive, square wave generation, microcontroller programming using assembly and C languages, timer interrupt, and step motor drive using a small 5 V power supply, a breadboard, various electronic and electric components, a microcontroller and its programmer, a step motor, and a student's PC. In the developed mechatronics course, experimental educations are scheduled in parallel with content's lectures together, and cheap and economic experimental environment is prepared for students in which students can easily practice experimental works in advance or later at home by themselves.

  • Deep-sea equipment such as underwater robots and unmanned submersible vehicles, include various machine components and sensors, and it is important that their reliabilities be tested before use in the fields. This is necessary because they are affected by complex extreme-environment conditions, such as high pressures, extreme temperatures, and tidal forces that are present in the deep sea. We require test equipment that can conduct empirical tests in conditions that mimic these complex oceanic environments. In this study, we propose specifications that should be met, and a design plan for the primary components, which should limit their use to a maximum water pressure of 2.0 MPa, water temperature of $5{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, and a maximum flow velocity of 2 m/s. in work-in type underwater combined environment test equipment and. We present test system development procedures to verify the reliability of products and systems used in deep-sea environments.

A Study on Vibration Analysis and Estimation of Vibration Damping of Tricone-Bits Drilling Machine (Tricone-Bits 천공장비의 진동 분석 및 진동 거리감쇠 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, with the development of construction machinery, low-vibration construction machine such as Tricone-Bits, which can drill both soil and rock layers and minimize vibration, is being used frequently. However, although many studies have been conducted on the prediction of vibration values for earth augers and pile drivers, the reality is that studies on the effects of vibration on low-vibration drilling equipment are lacking. In this paper, ground vibration values for Tricone-Bits were measured, and a vibration distance damping formula was proposed using this. In addition, after predicting the vibration of the earth auger and pile driver using the previously proposed vibration distance damping formula, the degree of vibration damping for the Tricone-Bits was evaluated by comparing and analyzing it. As a result, the Tricone-Bits showed a vibration reduction effect of 97% and 93% compared to these machine and It will help with management and prediction of the ground vibration effects evaluation on the low-vibration equipment such as Tricone-Bits.
