스테인리스강의 화이버 레이저 용접성 연구 (A study for weldability of stainless steel using fiber laser)

  • 스테인리스강은 내식성이 우수하여 열교환기, 화학플랜트 등 부식환경의 구조물 혹은 파이프에 널리 사용되고 있다. 스테인리스 파이프 제조에 사용되는 용접방법은 주로 GTA 용접이 적용되고 있는데, 이 방법은 용접부 품질은 우수하지만 용접 생산성이 늦은 단점이 있다. 또한 이상스테인리스 등과 같은 특수한 용도의 스테인리스 강은 기존의 용접으로는 용접부 성능 확보가 어렵다. 레이저는 고밀도로 집속되고 직진성이 우수한 일종의 빛으로 용접/절단 등 금속 혹은 비금속의 가공에 널리 사용되고 있다. 레이저 용접의 장점은 비접촉으로 용접이 가능하고, 용접 속도가 매우 빠르고, 용접이 가능한 소재의 종류 혹은 두께의 제약이 적고, 용접부가 작아 변형이 적다는 것이다. 이러한 장점으로 인하여 자동차산업에 적용이 급격히 증가하였으며, 최근에는 다양한 분야에 적용이 추진되고 있다. 본 발표에서는 스테인리스강의 파이프 제조 공정에 레이저용접을 적용하기 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였다. 사용된 소재는 오스테나이트계 및 이상스테인리스강이었으며, 용입특성, 용접부 기계적 특성 등을 알아 보았으며, 열처리에 따른 특성 변화를 평가하였다.

GECM과 Al 및 Ti 간의 갈바닉 부식에 미치는 양극산화 및 열산화의 영향 (Influences of Anodizing and Thermal Oxidation on the Galvanic Corrosion between Aluminium and Titanium and GECM)

  • Graphite epoxy composite material (GECM) shows high specific strength and its application in the aerospace industry is gradually increasing. However, its application would induce galvanic corrosion between GECM and metallic materials. This work focused on the effects of anodizing and thermal oxidation on galvanic corrosion in a 3.5% NaCl solution between GECM and aluminium and titanium. In the case of anodized aluminium, galvanic corrosion resistance to the GECM was greatly improved by the anodizing treatment regardless of area ratio. In the case of anodized titanium, the anodizing by a formation voltage of 50V increased corrosion resistance of titanium in galvanic tests. Thermal oxidation of titanium also improved corrosion resistance of Ti to GECM.

  • Fe-(10, 20, 30, 40) wt%Cr alloys were corroded in $Na_2SO_4$ salts ($m.p.=884^{\circ}C$) at $800{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ for 3-300 hrs. Their corrosion resistance increased with an increase in Cr content owing to the formation of slowly growing $Cr_2O_3$. During corrosion, $Na_2SO_4$ dissociated and reacted with the alloys to form $Cr_2O_3$ and $Fe_2O_3$. Since $Fe_2O_3$ dissolved fast into the salts, most of the scales consisted primarily of $Cr_2O_3$. Inside the scale, a small amount of sulfides also existed. The oxidation, dissolution and detachment of the formed scales occurred significantly.

  • The corrosion product of archaeological iron objects is supposed to be removed because it causes re-corrosion. So far it is removed by scapel and sand blaster but they depend on the skill and experience of a conservator and the glass-dust of the sand blaster is harmful to humans. Therefore this study applies a laser cleaning system which is used in various industrial cleaning processes, to remove corrosion product from archaeological iron objects. In addition, this work studies the alternation of corrosion product after laser irradiation, which evaluates the reliability of the laser cleaning system. Optical microscopy, SEM-EDS, XRD, Raman have been used to observe and analyse the surface of the objects. The results show the capacity of laser cleaning some corrosion product, but blackening appears with increasing pulses and laser energy, and some corrosion products, goethite and hematite, are partially altered to magnetite. These problems, blackening and alternation of corrosion product, should be solved by further studies which find the optimal laser irradiation condition and use a wetting agent.

가압형 경수로 스테인리스강 내부 구조물의 조사유기 응력부식균열에 대한 통계적 수명 예측 (Statistical Life Prediction on IASCC of Stainless Steel for PWR Core Internals)

  • This work is concerned with a statistical approach to the life prediction on irradiation-assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC) of stainless steel (SS) for core internals of a pressurized water reactor (PWR). The previous results of the time-to-failure of IASCC measured on neutron-irradiated stainless steel components were statistically analyzed in terms of stress and irradiation. The accelerating life testing model of IASCC of cold worked Type 316 SS was established based on an inverse power model with two stress-variables, the applied stress and irradiation dose. Considering the variation of the yield strength and applied stress with the irradiation dose in the model, the remaining life of the baffle former bolt was statistically predicted during operation under complex environments of stress and irradiation.

  • Fe-(8.5, 18.5, 28.3, 36.9) wt% Cr alloys were corroded between 600 and $800^{\circ}C$ for up to 70 h in a 1 atm gas mixture that consisted of 0.0242 atm of $H_2S$, 0.031 atm of water vapor, and 0.9448 atm of nitrogen gas. Their corrosion resistance increased with an increment in the Cr content. The Fe-8.5%Cr alloy corroded fast, forming thick, fragile, nonadherent scales that consisted primarily of an outer FeS layer and an inner (Fe, Cr, O, S)-mixed layer. The outer FeS layer grew into the air by the outward diffusion of $Fe^{2+}$ ions, whereas the inner mixed layer grew by the inward diffusion of oxygen and sulfur ions. At the interface of the outer and inner scales, voids developed and cracking occurred. The Fe-(18.5, 28.3, 36.9)% Cr alloys displayed much better corrosion resistance than the Fe-8.5Cr alloy, because thin $Cr_2O_3$ or $Cr_2S_3$ scales formed.

Mg-5Al-2Si 합금의 조직 및 부식특성에 미치는 Sb, Sr 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Sb and Sr Addition on Corrosion Properties of Mg-5Al-2Si Alloy)

  • Magnesium alloys containing $Mg_2Si$ particles, as a promising cheap heat-resistant magnesium alloy for automobile power train parts applications, are attracting more attention of both material scientists and design engineers. Modification of the Chinese script shape $Mg_2Si$ particle is a key for using this alloy in sand or permanent mould casting. In the present work, the modification effect of Sr and Sb on the corrosion properties of the Mg-5Al-2Si alloy was investigated. Sr or Sb addition promoted the formation of fine polygonal shape $Mg_2Si$ particles by providing the nucleation sites. Sr was more effective element than Sb for shape modification of Chinese script shape $Mg_2Si$. Such improved microstructure of the modified alloy resulted in large improvement in corrosion resistance as compared to unmodified Mg-5Al-2Si alloy.

P122강 용접부의 대기중 고온산화 부식속도와 스케일 분석 (High-Temperature Oxidation Kinetics and Scales Formed on P122 Steel Welds in Air)

  • P122 steel, with a composition of Fe-10.57%Cr-1.79%W-0.96Cu-0.59Mn was arc-welded and oxidized between $600^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ in air for up to 6 months. The oxidation rates increased in the order of the base metal, weld metal, and heat-affected zone (HAZ), depending on the microstructure. The scale morphologies of the base metal, weld metal, and HAZ were similar because it was determined mainly by the alloy chemistry. The scale consisted primarily of a thin $Fe_2O_3$ layer at $600^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$ and an outer $Fe_2O_3$ layer and an inner ($Fe_2O_3$, $FeCr_2O_4$)-mixed layer at $800^{\circ}C$. The microstructural changes resulting from heating between $600^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ coarsened the carbide precipitates, secondary Laves phases, and subgrain boundaries in the matrix, resulting in softening of the base metal, weld metal, and HAZ.

고온 이산화황 환경 내 내열 크롬강에 대한 부식특성 연구 (High Temperature Corrosion Properties of Heat Resistant Chrome Steels in SO2 Atmosphere)

  • The high temperature corrosion properties of heat resistant steels were investigated in oxidation atmosphere including sulfur dioxide. The heat resistant steels of T22, T92, T122, T347HFG and T304H were evaluated at 620, $670^{\circ}C$ for 400 hours. The corrosion rates showed a decreasing tendency while chrome contents of those steels increased from 2 mass.% to 19 mass.%. The in crease in temperature increasement has an more effect on the corrosion rates of low chrome steels than high chrome steels. The weight gains of T22, T92, T304H at $670^{\circ}C$ were 3.7, 1.65, 1.23 times compared with those at $620^{\circ}C$. The external scale formed on T22 was composed of hematite, magnetite and Fe-Cr spinel and internal layer including iron oxide mixed with sulfide. The scales formed on T92, T122, T304H consisted of an outer layer of hematite and inner layer of chrome oxide and hematite. The proportion of chrome oxide at inner layer was increased when the chrome contents in heat resistant steels were increased.

플라즈마 전해 산화 처리한 AZ31 및 Al18B4O33w/AZ31 마그네슘 복합재료 피막의 미세구조 및 부식특성 (Microstructure and Corrosion Properties of Plasma Electrolytic Oxide Coatings on AZ31 Magnesium Matrix Composite)

  • Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) treatment was performed on squeeze cast AZ31 alloy and $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to characterize the surface morphology and cross-section microstructure of the coating. The phase structures of the PEO coating were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The corrosion resistance of the PEO coating was evaluated by electrochemical method. The results showed that the $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$ whisker on the surface of the composite was decomposed and $MgAl_2O_4$ was formed in the PEO coating layer of $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite during PEO treatment. As a result, the electrochemical corrosion potential of the PEO coated $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite was increased compared with that of AZ31 alloy.
