  • We consider the robust trajectory tracking control problem for a skid steering mobile robots. A dynamic model is derived accounting for the effects of wheel skidding. The control design utilizes the dynamic feedback linearization techniques, so as to obtain a predictable behavior for the instantaneous center of rotation thus preventing excessive skidding. The additive controller using the sliding mode type is then robustified against the unmodelled dynamics and parameter uncertainty. Simulation results show the good performances under excessively uncorrected estimations of the longitudinal forces and the lateral resistive forces caused by the skidding of the wheels in tracking trajectories.

  • The Field Robot means the machinery applied for outdoor tasks in construction, agriculture and undersea etc. In this study, to field-robotize a hydraulic excavator that is mostly used in construction working, we have developed an automatic excavation system and adaptive control system. A model- reference adaptive controller has been designed on the model that is obtained through off-line System Identification. It is illustrated by computer simulations that the proposed control system gives good performances in the trajectory tracking control and adaptation to parameter variation.

  • A guidance scheme that is suitable for controlling the aircraft flight path is proposed. The concept of miss distance which is commonly used in the missile guidance laws, and Lyapunov stability theorem are effectively combined to obtain the aircraft's trajectory-tracking guidance law. Guidance commands are given in terms of speed and flight path angles, but they perfectly reflect any position and velocity errors between real aircraft trajectory and reference one. The proposed guidance law is easily integrated into the existing flight control system. The new guidance law was extensively tested with various mission scenarios and the fully nonlinear 6-DOF aircraft model. Furthermore, the new guidance law was compared with previous guidance schemes in nonlinear simulation. Results from the numerical simulation show that the proposed guidance law yields better performance than previous ones.

  • This paper presents an improved sliding mode controller design for induction motor. In place of the discontinuous control inputs, continuous inputs are proposed in order to remove the undesirable chattering phenomena, which represent major drawbacks of the sliding mode controller. The design strategy is illustrated with a microprocessor based implementation for the velocity control of an induction motor. An induction motor is operated under sling mode control such that the motor angular velocity follows a predetermined trajectory. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, the Direct Learning Control is applied to robot's trajectory tracking control to solve the problem that lies in the existing Iterative Learning Control(ILC) and the tracking Performance is analyzed and the better approach is searched using computer simulation and experiments. It is assumed that the Direct Learning Control(DLC) is saved onto memory basically after obtaining control input Profiles for several Periodic output trajectories using the ILC. In case the new output trajectory has special relations with the previous output trajectories, there is an advantage that the desired control input profile can be obtained without iterative executions only using the DLC. The robot's tracking control system is comprised of DSP chip. A/D converter, D/A converter and high-speed pulse counter included in the control board and the performance is examined by carrying out the tracking control for the given output trajectory.

  • The PID trajectory tracking controller for robotic systems shows performance limitation imposed by inverse dynamics according to desired trajectory. Since the equilibrium point can not be defined for the control system involving performance limitation, we define newly the quasi-equilibrium region as an alternative for equilibrium point. This analysis result of performance limitation can guide us the auto-tuning method for PID controller. Also, the quasi-equilibrium region is used as the target performance of auto-tuning PID trajectory tracking controller. The auto-tuning law is derived from the direct adaptive control scheme, based on the extended disturbance input-to-state stability and the characteristics of performance limitation. Finally, experimental results show that the target performance can be achieved by the proposed automatic tuning method.

  • Automatic landing of UAVs receives increasing interest these days, with increasing number of the developed UAV systems. In this paper, a glidepath tracking algorithm of the subscale UAV was proposed and the performance was analyzed. Flight data analysis shows that the existing autolanding flight control algorithm has a classical type glidepath control. This paper presents an alternative glidepath tracking strategy based on embedded flight control law. The performance of the proposed strategy was investigated through the TDP(Touch Down Point) error analysis with regard to various flight environment: steady headwind, atmospheric disturbance, communication transfer delay. It was verified that the proposed glidepath tracking strategy can be successfully applied to the practical autolanding of UAV systems.

  • In this paper, the design and the implementation of a robust adaptive controller for trajectory tracking of robot manipulator is presented. The proposed control scheme ensures that tracking errors are converged to some boundaries in the presence of a state-dependent input disturbances as well as the ideal case without any prior knowledge of the robot manipulator parameters. The 3 DOF robot manipulator including actuator dynamics is used for the implementation of the proposed control scheme. The experimental results show that the proposed control scheme is valid for trajectory tracking of the robot manipulator.

  • This paper studies the coordinated trajectory control of an excavator as a kind of robotic manipulators driven by hydraulic actuators. Hydraulic robot system has many non-linearity in dynamics and kinematics, and strong coupling among joints(or hydraulic cylinders). This paper proposes a combined controller frame of the adaptive robust control(ARC) and the sliding mode control(SMC) for the trajectory tracking control of the excavator to preserve the advantages of the both methods while overcoming their drawbacks, namely, asymptotic stability of adaptive system for parametric uncertainties and guaranteed transient performance of sliding mode control for both parametric uncertainties and external disturbance. The suggested control technique is applied for the tracking of a straight-line motion of end-effector of manipulators, and through computer simulations, its trajectory tracking performances and the robustness to payload variation and uncertainties are illustrated.
