The deformable devices refer to the devices that can maintain their initial performance even when stretched or bent. Among the materials used as conductor in deformable devices, Ga-based liquid metal is one of the most promising materials because it can provide not only high conductivity and deformability but also low toxicity. In this paper, we introduce Ga-based liquid metals and then discuss the recent research trend in deformable devices composed of Ga-based liquid metal.

Constructions of coated conductor which is differently from Bi-2223 is comprised multiple coatings on a base material or substrate and designed to achieve the highest degree of alignment possibility of the atoms in the superconductor material. In this study, we are measured and analyzed degradations of critical current according to diameter. In addition to study the effects of bending strain, we observed the AC loss of coated conductor and carried out analytical study for relation between Ic degradation and AC loss as well. The measurement of AC loss and numerical calculation was carried out based on Norris theory to compare with experimental results. The relationship between critical current and AC loss of HTS tapes with partial deformation by mechanical stress was studied. These results will amount the most important basis data in the of HTS cable, magnet, etc that winding work is required.

Flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices consist of multi-stacked thin films or layers comprising organic and inorganic materials. Due to thermal coefficient mismatch of the multi-layer films, warpage of the flexible OLED is generated during high temperature process of each layer. This warpage will create the critical issues for next production process, consequently lowering the production yield and reliability of the flexible OLED. In this study, we investigate the warpage behavior of the flexible OLED for each bonding process step of the multi-layer films using the experimental and numerical analysis. It is found that the polarizer film and barrier film show significant impact on warpage of flexible OLED, while the impact of the OCA film on warpage is negligible. The material that has the most dominant impact on the warpage is a plastic cover. In order to minimize the warpage of the flexible OLED, we estimate the optimal material properties of the plastic cover using design of experiment. It is found that the warpage of the flexible OLED is reduced to less than 1 mm using a cover plastic of optimized properties which are the elastic modulus of 4.2 GPa and thermal expansion coefficient of $20ppm/^{\circ}C$.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the behaviour of the plastic deformed zone at crack tip on the standard Charpy specimens which were taken from the multi-passed weld block of the pressure vessel steel. Notch was machined on the standard Charpy test specimens and pre-crack which was located around the fusion line was made under the repeat load. Four point bend and acoustic emission tests were carried out simultaneously. The size of plastic region at crack tip was calculated using stress intensity factor. Relationships between characteristics of acoustic emission and plastic zone size at crack tip were discussed through the cumulative AE energy. Regardless of the specimens, AE signals were absent within the elastic region almost and most of AE signals were produced at the plastic deformation region from yield point to the mid-point between yield and maximum load. More AE signals for the weldment were produced compared with the base-metal and PWHT specimen. Relations between plastic deformed zones at crack tip and cumulative AE energy for the weldment and PWHT specimen were different quietly from the base-metal. Besides, number of AE counts for the weldment was the larger than those of the base-metal and PWHT specimen.
Al-brass material is generally used at the state of plastic deformation, for example; bending, extension of bell mouth at shell and tube type heat exchanger. And SCC(stress corrosion cracking) of Al-brass material will be affected by residual stress as plastic deformation. SCC results from synergism between mechanical factor and corrosion environment. Mechanical factor is stress that directly relates with stress intensity factor at the crack tip. This paper was studied on the effect of stress on SCC of Al-brass tube under in $3.5\%$ NaCl. + $0.1\%\;NH_4OH$ solution by constant displacement tester. Increasing of acidified water flow into sea and speeds up corrosion rate of Al-brass which is used as a tube material of vessel heat exchanger by polluted coast seawater. The experimental results are as follow The latent time of SCC occurrence gets longer as the initial stress intensity factor($K_{Ii}$) gets lower The main crack was propagated as the initial stress intensity factor($K_{Ii}$) gets higher, and secondary cracks occurred by electro-chemical factor a(ter stage of released stress. Dezincification phase showed around the crack, and the range of dezincification gets wider as the initial stress intensity factor($K_{Ii}$) gets higher.

The LCD frame is an important part which supports the BLU of medium/large sized TFT-LCD. To produce it efficiently, it is necessary to achieve the molding process improvement from 1 cavity to 2 cavity system. Because 2 cavity mold is compact and its hot-runner zone is broadened, it is difficult to control the temperature on the mold. In this study, injection molding analysis on the frame in 2 cavity process with FEA(Finite Element Analysis) software is carried out to estimate its quality. The calculated injection molding pressures and maximum deflection in 1 and 2 cavity processes are 41.13 MPa and 1.62 mm, 40.49 MPa and 1.66 mm respectively. The measured maximum flexure load and surface roughness of the left and right frame of 2 cavities are 209 N and 0.08 ${\mu}m$, 193 N and 0.10 ${\mu}m$ while those in 1 cavity are 140 N and 0.13 ${\mu}m$. Thermal image shows that the maximum standard deviation of the temperature on left and right side of 2 cavity mold is $1.23^{\circ}C$. The simulation and measurement results show that the quality of the frame in 2 cavity injection molding process as a whole is not worse than that of 1 cavity system. But maximum flexure loads of the frame in 2 cavity process are far greater than that in 1 cavity process.

This paper introduces a measurement system for mechanical properties of sport shoes using an industrial robot. The robot system used in this paper is a commercial Puma type robot system(FARA AT2 made by SAMSUNG Electronics) with 6 joints and the end-effector is modified to produce a human walking motion. After analyzing human walking with a high speed video camera, each joint angle of the robot system is extracted to be used in the robot system. By using this system, ground impact forces were measured during stepping motion with 3 different shoe specimens made of 3 different hardness outsoles, respectively. As other mechanical properties, both bending moments to bend the toe part of the same specimen shoes and pronation quantities during walking motion were measured as well. In the impact test with the same depth of deformation under the ground level, the effect of the outsole hardness was clearly appeared such that the harder outsole produces the higher ground reaction force. The bending test and the pronation test also show proportional increments in the bending stiffness and the moment Mx according to the outsole hardness. Throughout such experiments, the robot system has produced consistent results so that the system could be used in obtaining valuable informations for a shoe designing process.
For the same configuration of two-dimensional finite element models, 6-node element exhibits stiffer bending stiffness than 8-node element. This is true in the relation between 16-node element and 20-node element for three-dimensional model. This stiffening phenomenon comes from the elimination of several mid nodes from full-node elements. Therefore, this may be called 'relative stiffness stiffening phenomenon'. It seems that there are a couple of ways to correct the stiffening effect, however, we could find only one effective method-the method of modification of Gauss sampling points-which passes the patch test and does not alter other kinds of stiffness, such as extensional stiffness. The quantity of modification is a function of Poisson's ratios of the constituent materials. We could obtain two modification equations, one for plane stress case and the other for plane strain case. This method can be extended to 3-dimensional solid elements. Except the exact plane strain cases, most 3-dimensional plates could be modeled successfully with 16-node element modified by the equation for the plane stress case. The effectiveness of the modification method is checked by applying it to several examples with excellent improvements. In numerical examples, beams with various boundary conditions are subjected to static and time-dependent loads. Free and forced motion analyses of beams and plates are also tested. The beam and plate may be composed of isotropic multilayers as well as a single layer.
Mechanical properties of rice plants were tested to determine compressive force, bending force, tensile force and shear force for improvement of harvesting machines and for efficient utilization of rice culm during the proper harvesting period. Rice varieties used in this study were two Japonica varieties with Irri 348 and Jinju, and two $Indica{\times}Japonica$ hybrids with Seogwang and Taebaeg, which were grown in the standard fertilization field of Chungnam Rural Development Office. Also Jinju and Taebaeg were tested to elucidate the shearing characteristics which included shear force-strain relationship, shear force and shear energy according to the position from the ground level, the shearing angle to the rice culm, and the moisture content. 1. Compressive force, bending force, tensile force and shear force were higher In Japonica varieties than $Indica{\times}Japonica$ hybrids. 2. Shear force to overall culm length decreased progressively to upper positions in Jinju variety but a constant shear force was approximately showed between the ground level and the position of 21cm in Taebaeg variety. 3. Shear force and shear energy increased with increase of the cross sectional area, and the rates of increase were high in general up to the cross sectional area of $10mm^2$ and then they became dull very much. 4. Shear force and shear energy decreased with decrease of moisture content of rice culm after cutting up to the moisture content of 60% (w. b.) and then they did not change significantly.

In this study, tailor-welded blanks(TWB) were formed between high-strength steel(SABC1470) and cold rolled steels(SPFH590 and SPFC980) to improve passenger safety and reduce the weight of cars. Multi-material TWB specimens were highly strengthened through the heat treatment of SABC1470. The change in tensile strength caused by the stand-by time until water cooling after stamping and the deformation behavior of high-speed bending in a statically indeterminate condition such as in the center-pillar were evaluated. Multi-material TWB specimens that were heat-treated at the same temperature tended to show a decrease in tensile and yield strength, depending on the stand-by time until water cooling. On the other hand, Multi-material TWB specimens(SABC1470+SPFH590) that were heat treated at $850^{\circ}C$ showed good properties that were suitable for ensuring passenger safety in car accidents. From the viewpoint of passenger safety, it is best to use SABC1470 and SPFH590 in the upper and lower area of the center-pillar, respectively.
