The Influence on the Bar Straightness and Plastic Deformation the Roll Intersection Angle of a Two Roll Straightene (2roll 교정기의 교차각이 봉의 직진도와 소성변형에 미치는 영향)

  • Two roll straightener showed the remarkable improvement in straightness betterment of the bar compared with other types of straightener. So, in this study we designed a two-cross straightener curvature for the straightness improvement of a bar and contact sections with respect to the variation of the gap between two-cross roll using nonlinear contact analysis. The Displacement in terms of a intersection angle between roll and bar was predicted on with the effect of a straightness and plastic deformation behaviors of the bar according to the roll drive of a two cross-roll straightener.

  • Electrical discharge machining is the method of using thermal energy by electrical discharge. Generally, if the material of workpiece has conductivity even though it is very hard material and complicated shape which are difficult to cut such as quenching steel, cemented carbide, diamond and conductive ceramics, the EDM is favorable one of possible machining processes. But, the process is necessarily required of finish cut and heat treatment because of slow cutting speed, no mirror surface, brittleness and crack due to the residual stress for manufactured goods.

  • BTA drilling among the deep hole drilling is using for the improvement of productivity and the high-efficient working. As the deep hole drilling with BTA drill is satisfied with the required quality by one-pass processing, more deeper hole depth, the accuracy of materials is affected by bending vibration and cutting speed. This paper is studied that the shapes of material (surface roughness, roundness) is affected by cutting condition compared actual roundness with lobe shape with modeling of computer through the experiments in the BTA drilling system with BTA drill.

  • Recently, quasimolecular dynamics has been successfully used to simulate the deformation characteristic of actual size material. In quasimolecular dynamics, which is an attempt to bridge the gab between atomistic and continuum simulations, molecules are aggregated into large units, called quasimolecules, to simulate the large scale material behavior. In this paper, a numerical simulation using quasimolecular dynamics has been performed to investigate the laminar composite material fracture and crack propagation behaviors in bending process of laminar composite material which is made of fictitious materials. The simulation of the bending of laminar composite material has clarified the effects of strength of material at outer surface upon the fracture behviors of the specimen.

  • A simplified numerical procedure to predict drawbead restraining forces(DBRF) has been developed based on the hybrid membrane/bending method which superposes bending effects onto membrane solutions. As a semi-analytical method, the new approach is especially useful to analyze the effects of various constitutive parameters. The present model can accommodate general anisotropic yield functions along with non-linear isotropic-kinematic hardening under the plane strain condition. For the preliminary results, several sensitivity analyses for the process and material effects such as friction, drawbead depth, hardening behavior including the Bauschinger effect and yield surface shapes on the DBRF are carried out.

  • A sectional FEA program is developed lot analyzing forming processes of sandwich sheets, which are intensively used recently as a lightweight material of an automobile body. The aluminum sandwich sheet consists of two aluminum skins and a polyprophylen core in between. The aluminum sandwich sheet is dominantly effected by the bending effects in small radius of curvature, so that an appropriate description of bending effects is required to analyze the forming processes. For the evaluation of bending effects, the bending equivalent forces are calculated from the bending moment computed using the curvature of the tool and are added to the membrane stretch forces. To verify the validity of the developed program the sectional FEA results in stretch/draw forming Processes of a square cup and draw forming Processes of an outer hood panel were compared with the measurements.

  • The twisting and the bending of extruded product are caused by the shapes of products and by the shapes of die surfaces and by the shapes of die land. Because the elliptical shape and the circular shape of the extruded product have the symmetry line of cross-section area, the twisting and the bending of product has not occurred. But the analysis by the DEFORM-3DTM show that the twisting and the bending of extruded product can be occurred by the twisting of the twisting of the die land and by the curving of the die land. The results by the analysis show that the twisting angle of the extruded procduct increases by the twisting angle of the die land and the curvature of the extruded products increases by the radius of bending of the die land.

  • Laser forming is an advanced process in sheet metal forming in which a laser heat source is used to shape the metal sheet. This is a new manufacturing technique that forms the metal sheet only by a thermal stress. Analyses of the temperature and stress fields are very important to identify the deformation mechanism in laser forming. In this paper, temperature distributions and deformation behaviors of DP980 steel sheets are investigated numerically and experimentally. FE simulations are first conducted to evaluate the response of a square sheet in bending. The effects of process parameters such as laser power and scanning speed are then analyzed numerically and experimentally. It is observed that experimental and numerical results are in good agreement. These results provide a relationship between the line energy and the angles for laser bending of DP980 steel sheets.

  • This study performs the bending and contact stress analyses for a pair of mating gears during rotation. The interested gears are used for a railway reducer. In general, the railway reducer needs high speed rotation, which leads to a large gear ratio. Thus, it is not easy to apply finite element method to investigate the strength performance, since the size of a gear is much larger than that of a pinion. In this study, the bending and contact stresses determined from FEM are compared with the values determined from the ISO code.

  • The aluminum tube hydroforming is a manufacturing process which can provide lightweight components as automotive parts. In this paper, the hydroformability of aluminium tube in different condition of bending process is presented. An investigation has been conducted on how to control the deformed shape and its effect on thinning distribution after hydroforming by using finite element simulation. Finite element simulation of tube hydroforming for automotive trailing arm is carried out to explore the effect of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional bending.
