Active international exchange measures in the Covid-19 era (Covid-19 시대의 적극적인 국제교류방안)

  • Due to Covid-19, international programs at the universities in the US have been temporarily on hold (or terminated). To recover from the great damage that the pandemic has brought to us, we have made our transition to provide international education via online. University of Hawaii - West Oahu has been actively coping with the impact from pandemic, and would like to propose unconventional methods of international programs to the fellow universities in Korea.

Research on Instructional Design Models for Cross-Cultural Collaborative Online Learning (온라인 국제교류 협력학습 설계모형 탐구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the concepts and types of cross-cultural collaborative online learning that enhance the utilization of advanced ICT in education and contribute to the promotion of educational exchanges between countries, and suggest exchange learning design models necessary for the active introduction. For this study, previous studies related to cross-cultural collaborative online learning were examined. As a result, cross-cultural collaborative online learning is an educational method based on constructivism that explore and construct knowledge by interacting and collaborating with students, teachers, and field experts who are linguistically and culturally heterogeneous based on advanced ICT. The type of cross-cultural collaborative online learning could be divided into synchronous exchange learning centered on remote video classes and asynchronous exchange learning centered on website based tasks. A PPIE learning design model considering the characteristics of each type is presented.

An Analysis of Educational Satisfaction on the Implementation of Educational Cooperation Systems in Vocational High Schools between CIS Countries and Korea, Focusing on Exchange Students from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (CIS 국가와 한국의 직업고등학교 교육협력체제 운영현황과 교육만족도 분석: 카자흐스탄과 키르기스스탄 교류학생을 중심으로)

  • This study was carried out to identify what elements affected the satisfaction of high school international students, who were invited for Vocational Education organized by Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program. They are in vocational high school which located in Jeollanam-do province. The results of the analysis showed that the highest level of satisfaction is 'satisfaction of education level' (M = 4.19) and 'overall satisfaction' (M = 4.19). In general, the average satisfaction of international exchange students at vocational high school was 3.92 points. The High School Exchange Student Program through invitation and scholarship for vocational education is aimed at establishing an international network between Korea and CIS countries and cultivating global talent. This year 10 foreign students were selected and supported the second time. Considering the sustain ability of the program, this study will yield the following results and will be helpful in future mentoring in school or in the management of international students.

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the quality of APEC Edutainment Exchange Program (AEEP) that was developed for Korean multicultural students and implemented in Philippines. Based on literature review and data analysis, we designed and developed edutainment-based contents for their team projects. The participants of the AEEP which was carried out between Aug 12th and 19th in 2012 were 34 elementary and secondary school students with program coordinators. Data collection included survey, video, interview, report and episodes. The data analysis of AEEP activities revealed the features of global experiential learning and edutainment in the K-pop and cooking projects where the Korean-Philippino students exchanged their cultural activities with joyful cooperation. The data also confirmed the Korean students' positive changes toward multi-cultural understandings and attitudes.

  • Based on Kingdon's policy stream model, the logical mechanism of student burden double reduction policy agenda setting process in China was analyzed from three aspects: problem stream, policy stream, political stream. It was found that the direct reflection of data, the feedback and improvement of current policies constitute the problem stream.The high attention of government departments, the suggestions of CPPCC members and experts and scholars, the strong voice of schools, and the continuous voice of stakeholders constitute the policy stream. The ruling party's governing idea and educational policy, national mood and interest game during the transition period constitute the political policy stream. The three streams, coupling interaction, open the policy window, promoting the introduction of the 'double reduction' policy.

  • 한국천문학회는 한국천문올림피아드를 통해 영재를 발굴하고, 교육을 통해 천문학의 의미있는 성장을 기대하고 있다. 천문학은 우리 문명의 중요한 문화의 한 부분이며, 우리의 삶과 사고를 형성케하는 근본적인 학문으로 인식되고 있어, 천문올림피아드를 통한 영재 교육은 청소년들의 천문학과 천체물리학의 학교 교육 분야는 물론, 서로 다른 나라간의 국제 교류의 증진을 통해 괄목한 성장을 이루고 있다. 또한, 이를 통한 영재 교육은 우리 삶의 모든 부분과 관련된 주제와 특히 과학기술의 발달이 국가 경쟁력의 원천이 될 것 이라는 신념 때문에, 국내는 물론 국제적인 관심이 되었다. 천문올림피아드 3개의 국제대회, 국제천문올림피아드, 아시아 태평양 천문올림피아드, 국제 천문 및 천체물리올림피아드 참가자 24명을 대상으로 추적연구를 실시하였다. 천문올림피아드 참가 학생들의 개인변인, 가정변인, 학교변인을 알아보고, 천문올림피아드가 학생들에게 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지, 그들의 진로에 어떤 영향을 주었는지, 한국천문올림피아드가 과학영재 교육에 기여하고 있는지 추적연구를 수행하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the demand of K-nursing in Southeast Asian nursing colleges, and to promote international exchange convergence. In this study, we surveyed the professors and students who were living in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. For investigating the demands of the topics, two times of surveys were conducted using the google form In the first survey, the emergency care and infectious control showed the most frequent. In the second survey, the classification of emergency patients, showed the most, according the highest priority of emergency department. In infectious control department, management of new infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, showed the most, according to the highest priority. Based on the result, we make a suggestion to develop the contents, according to the highest priority, and to utilize them in international exchange programs.

  • This study selected college students in Anhui Province as the research subjects and used a questionnaire survey method to understand the current implementation status of the integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education and professional education. The survey results indicate that college students have insufficient awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship; Poor integration of curriculum construction. This study analyzes the reasons for the problems from four aspects: the government, enterprises, and universities, as well as the subjective will of students. Based on qualitative and quantitative research, the following countermeasures and suggestions are proposed: firstly, strengthen top-level design; Secondly, promote the integration of curriculum construction; Thirdly, expand the teaching staff; Fourthly, a practical platform for school enterprise co creation; Fifth, cultivate students' innovative awareness and guide innovative practice.

  • T미국 공립학교들에 다양한 문화적, 언어적, 인종적 배경을 가진 학생들이 점차 늘고 있다. 최근 10년간 이 학생들의 수는 52% 이상 증가하였으며 (from 1.4 to 3.04 million) 전문가들은 이 학생들의 수는 계속적으로 증가하여 2020년에 50% 에 도달할 것으로 예상한다. 그리고 이들을 위한 영어 교육을 위해 효율적인 연구와 투자를 계속적으로 하고 있다. 미네소타 주 역시나 공립학교 등에서 30% 이상의 외국인 학생들이 특별한 영어 교육 프로그램으로 교육을 받고있다. 따라서, 이 연구는 미네소타 주의 한 주요도시에 위치한 고등학교를 모델로 이 학생들의 효율적인 영어교육을 위해 액션 프랜을 개발하는 과정을 설명하고 이 액션 플랜을 위한 주요 이론들을 소개하는데 목적을 둔다. 주요이론들은 Differentiated Instruction, SWOT Analysis, 그리고 Action Research Methods 등 이며 Special Educational Needs 개념을 정리하였다. 본 연구는 국제 교류의 증가에 따라 한국에 늘어나고 있는 외국인들과 그들의 자녀들을 위한 한국어 교육방법과 노력들을 제고해 보는 계기로 삼고자 한다. 그리고 이 연구 방법은 현재 한국 농촌 지역에 사는 다문화 가정 자녀들의 한국어 교육을 위한 프로그램 개발 및 실천 연구에 응용되어질 수도 있다.

Undergraduates' Satisfaction of Online Classes : Focused on differences between Colleges (대학생의 원격수업운영에 대한 만족도 분석 : 단과대학별 차이를 중심으로)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the satisfaction of online classes of undergraduates who have experienced sudden online classes in college because of COVID-19, and to analyze the differences of the satisfaction of online classes depending on colleges. The participants were 1,380 college students. Descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Post-hoc Scheffé were performed. Undergraduates were highly satisfied with online classes in cultural subjects and major subjects, whereas they showed low satisfaction with appropriateness of the assignment. There were statistically significant differences in online class satisfaction between colleges. Students at the College of Education were highly satisfied with online classes satisfaction, while engineering students were less satisfied with online classes satisfaction. There were statistically significant differences in students engagements between colleges. Regardless of colleges, students displayed low satisfaction in e-class server and teaching and learning infrastructure. These findings suggest that we need to provide autonomous support and make an effective online learning environment such as server expansion and e-class improvement to enhance undergraduates' self-directed learning. We also should come up with effective online classes guidelines.
