A Mesh Segmentation Reflecting Global and Local Geometric Characteristics (전역 및 국부 기하 특성을 반영한 메쉬 분할)

  • This paper is concerned with the mesh segmentation problem that can be applied to diverse applications such as texture mapping, simplification, morphing, compression, and shape matching for 3D mesh models. The mesh segmentation is the process of dividing a given mesh into the disjoint set of sub-meshes. We propose a method for segmenting meshes by simultaneously reflecting global and local geometric characteristics of the meshes. First, we extract sharp vertices over mesh vertices by interpreting the curvatures and convexity of a given mesh, which are respectively contained in the local and global geometric characteristics of the mesh. Next, we partition the sharp vertices into the $\kappa$ number of clusters by adopting the $\kappa$-means clustering method [29] based on the Euclidean distances between all pairs of the sharp vertices. Other vertices excluding the sharp vertices are merged into the nearest clusters by Euclidean distances. Also we implement the proposed method and visualize its experimental results on several 3D mesh models.

SAR in a Human Head Depending on the Arrangement of Antenna of Mobile Phone (이동통신단말기 안테나 배치에 따른 두부의 전자파 흡수율)

  • Presently, the retractable phone with a whip antenna composed of a helix and a monopole is most widely used for cellular mobile communications. However, since the length of the monopole is usually about λ/4, the strong radiated electric fields are produced in the region where the auricle of a head is contacted directly. This field distribution results in high specific absorption rates(SAR's) in the head. In this paper, SAR distributions and local SAR values for the inversely shaped phone(ISP) whose antenna arrangement is opposite to the original retractable phone(ORP) are compared with those for the ORP. This phone is accomplished by mounting the $\lambda$/4-whip antenna on the bottom, not on the top of the handset. The time-averaged field distribution in a computational space including a human model and a phone model is computed using the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. SAR distributions and local SAR values for these phones are calculated with the field distributions. An anatomical head model and an approximate hand model were used to consider a real situation. From the analyzed data, it is shown that this arrangement of the antenna considerably reduces the spatial peak SAR in a human head.

Elastic Local Buckling of Orthotropic Open Section Compression Members with Asymmetric Edge Stiffeners (비대칭 연단보강재가 설치된 직교이방성 개방단면 압축재의 탄성국부좌굴)

  • This paper presents the results of an analytical investigation pertaining to the elastic local buckling behavior of asymmetric edge stiffened orthotropic open section structural member under uniform compression. The asymmetric edge stiffener is considered as a beam element neglecting its torsional rigidity. We suggested the analytical model of asymmetric edge stiffeners which is composed of a strip of flange plate, equal width of edge stiffener, and a plate attached at the flange end, and computed the moment of inertia of the stiffener about an axis through the centroid of the ensuing cross-section. Using the derived equation, the local buckling coefficients of asymmetrically edge stiffened orhtotropic I-section columns are predicted and the results are presented in a graphical form.

  • Slippage of beam longitudinal reinforcement at beam-column connections is an important cause of damage to reinforced concrete frames under static and dynamic loads, This paper summarizes the results of an experimen¬tal study on the effects of confinements and compressive strength of concrete on the local bond stress-slip cha¬racteristics of deformed bars. I t is concluded from experimental results that, as far as the bond splittmg cracks are restrained by the vertical column reinforcement, confinement of concrete by transverse reinforcement has insignigicant direct effect on the local bond behavior. The ultimate bond strength, however, Increases pro¬portionally with the square root of concrete compressive strength. An empirical model was developed for local bond st ressslip relationslip of deformed bars in confined concrete of different compressive strengths.

A Study on the Prediction of Elastoplastic Behavior of Carbon Nanotube/Polymer Composites (계면 결합력과 나노튜브의 응집에 따른 나노튜브/고분자 복합재의 탄소성 거동 예측에 대한 연구)

  • In this research, a paramteric study to account for the effect of interfacial strength and nanotube agglomeration on the elastoplastic behavior of carbon nanotube reinforced polypropylene composites is performed. At first, the elastoplastic behavior of nanocomposites is predicted from molecular dynamics(MD) simulations. By combining the MD simulation results with the nonlinear micromechanics model based on the Mori-Tanaka model, a two-step domain decomposition method is applied to inversely identify the elastoplastic behavior of adsorption interphase zone inside nanocomposites. In nonlinear micromechanics model, the secant moduli method combined with field fluctuation method is used to predict the elastoplastic behavior of nanocomposites. To account for the imperfect material interface between nanotube and matrix polymer, displacement discontinuity condition is applied to the micromechanics model. Using the elastoplastic behavior of the adsorption interphase zone obtained from the present study, stress-strain relation of nanocomposites at various interfacial bonding condition and local nanotube agglomeration is predicted from nonlinear micromechanics model with and without the adsorption interphase zone. As a result, it has been found that local nanotube agglomeration is the most important design factor to maximize reinforcing effect of nanotube in elastic and plastic behavior.

  • 본 논문은 교량의 안전진단을 위한 각 부재의 명명체계에 따라 직선형 교량모델의 각 부재에 대한 솔리드 객체의 고유번호를 일괄적으로 부여하기 위한 방법론을 제시한다. 개발된 방법론은 크게 3 단계의 프로세스로 이루어진다. 먼저, 부재의 종류별로 구분된 레이어로부터 각 부재에 대한 솔리드 객체의 도심을 추출하고, 이를 시점과 종점으로 이루어진 교축방향을 축으로 한 국부좌표계에 대해 변환한다. 이후 교축방향으로 정렬되는 객체를 식별하여 그룹핑하고 이를 교축 및 교축의 직각방향으로 순서로 정렬한다. 마지막으로 각 그룹 내 세그먼트들을 교축방향으로 정렬한다. 개발된 방법론에 따른 시범 응용모듈을 개발하였으며, 트러스 구조와 서로 다른 모델 좌표계를 가진 시범 교량모델을 대상으로 추출된 그룹의 개수와 각 객체의 명칭을 원래의 모델과 비교하여 그 적용성을 검토하였다.

  • 다양한 공학/산업적 측면에서 동적 취성 파괴 현상은 매우 중요하다. 취성 균열은 다른 균열 전파에 비해 그 전파 속도가 매우 빠르고 전파 범위가 넓기 때문에 대규모의 파괴 현상을 일으킨다. 동적 전파 중인 취성 균열 거동을 모델화하기 위해 오랜 기간 동안 많은 연구가 진행되었지만, 여전히 많은 부분들이 해석되지 못한 채 남아있다. 특히 균열 생성 및 전파를 위해 인위적인 조건들을 도입해야 하는 것은 기존 방법론들이 가지는 공통적인 문제점이다. 본 연구는 peridynamics를 동적 분기 균열 문제 해석에 도입한다. Peridynamics는 전통적인 연속체 이론에 기반한 수치해석 모델화 기법으로 균열과 같은 비연속성이 있는 문제의 모델화에 강점이 있으며, 인위적인 조건 없이 매우 간단한 방법으로 파괴 현상을 해석할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 peridynamics 모델이 실험적으로 관측된 분기균열 형상과 균열 전파 속도를 매우 잘 예측해 낼 수 있음을 보인다. 또한 균열팁 주변에 높은 응력이 발생할 때 나타나는 연쇄 분기 현상도 해석할 수 있다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 응력파가 균열 전파 속도를 변화시키고 전파 방향에도 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다. 수치해석 결과도 또한 실험 결과들과 잘 부합함을 확인하였다.

Performance Prediction Method of Hybrid Rocket Motors with Local Variance of Combustion (국부연소 현상을 고려한 하이브리드로켓의 성능예측 기법연구)

  • A unsteady internal ballistic analysis model was proposed to take account for the variance of local variance of pressure and velocity along the grain surface of a hybrid rocket combustor. The model of concern in the study was fairly comparable with the test result. The local variation of the oxidizer mass flow rate along grain surface results in chamber pressure, regression rate, and gas velocity change along its flow direction.

Numerical Simulation of Local Scour in Front of Impermeable Submerged Breakwater Using 2-D Coupled Hydro-morphodynamic Model (2차원 연성모델을 적용한 불투과성 잠제 전면의 국부세굴 모의)

  • In order to understand the characteristics of the topography change in front of an impermeable breakwater, a coupled model for a two-way analysis of the existing LES-WASS-2D and newly developed morphodynamic model was suggested. A comparison to existing experimental results revealed that the results computed using the 2-D hydro-morphodynamic model were in good agreement with the experimental results for the wave form, pore water pressure in the seabed, and topographical change in front of a submerged breakwater. It was shown that the two-way model suggested in this study is applicable to a morphological change in the seabed around a submerged breakwater. Then, using the numerical results, the topographical changes in front of an impermeable submerged breakwater were examined in relation to partial standing waves. Moreover, the characteristics of the local scour depths in front of them are also discussed in relation to incident wave conditions, sediment qualities, and submerged breakwater shapes.

Document Summarization using Topic Phrase Extraction and Query-based Summarization (주제어구 추출과 질의어 기반 요약을 이용한 문서 요약)

  • This paper describes the hybrid document summarization using the indicative summarization and the query-based summarization. The learning models are built from teaming documents in order to extract topic phrases. We use Naive Bayesian, Decision Tree and Supported Vector Machine as the machine learning algorithm. The system extracts topic phrases automatically from new document based on these models and outputs the summary of the document using query-based summarization which considers the extracted topic phrases as queries and calculates the locality-based similarity of each topic phrase. We examine how the topic phrases affect the summarization and how many phrases are proper to summarization. Then, we evaluate the extracted summary by comparing with manual summary, and we also compare our summarization system with summarization mettled from MS-Word.
