  • Flipped learning can be used as an innovative teaching method in science education. This study analyzes video clip produced by pre-service elementary school teachers for flipped learning and explore strategies to organize effective visualization. The pre-service elementary school teachers focused on providing information on macroscopic natural phenomenon using concrete case selection strategy for earth science class. They used marker and spatial transformation elements effectively, but their efforts to link the elements to the experience of students were not sufficient. In addition, it was very rare to put the contents into simplified drawing or provide extreme cases to enhance the imagery of students. In addition, it is necessary to provide specific case of multi-modal and link the material to the experience of students closely through familiar cases or analogical model to establish an effective visual teaching material. It may also be needed to present simplified drawing for enhancing imagery and provide extreme cases to make students have an opportunity to infer a new situation.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of psychological distances on the consumer attitudes related to new product advertising based on the construal level theory. In particular, this study intends to test the interaction effects among models' nationalities, the newness of new products and message types on the Chinese consumer attitudes toward the advertisements or products. Perceived cultural distances were also considered to have moderating role on the interaction effects. The results indicated that the fits of psychological distances led more positive attitudes. Consumers showed more positive attitudes toward abstract(vs concrete) advertising with foreign models. In the domestic model advertising, consumer attitudes were enhanced when concrete(vs abstract) messages were provided. The findings also demonstrate that the influences could be different according to perceived cultural distances.

  • This research supports the idea that manipulative devices can be an effective modality tool for learning abstract concepts involved with identifying geometric shapes and enhance learners' problem solving and motivation. Until recently specified manipulative device has been adapted only in traditional classroom environment and it has been very rare to find devices that is designed for online-basis. This study focused on designing and implementing an educational software which guide learners with geoboard in identification and characteristics of polygons. In addition to the function to draw and to delete various shapes, this software helps learners immediately assess the outcome. The results of the Delphi Technique show promising evidence for it being a very efficient means to learn geometric shapes and increase learners' motivation to learn the subject matter.

  • Objective:This study was conducted to examine the Draw-A-Person test as a non-verbal indicator of concrete and abstract thinking. Method:Thirty child-psychiatric children and 27 normal children were individually assessed with Draw-A-person Test and KEDI-WISC, and the scores were compared between similarity test and DAP. Results:The results showed significant differences between the groups. In clinical group, there were significant correlations with DAP scores and similarity test scores, especially abstract scores on DAP were highly correlated with similarity test scores. Results indicate characteristics of abstract thinking may be more discernable on the DAP than concrete thinking in clinical group.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the science curriculum of Korea and Estonia with a focus on the chemistry domain, and draw implications for reference when revising the next curriculum. To this end, the overall curriculum design centered on science subjects and the core concepts of chemistry covered in subjects corresponding to the common curriculum of the two countries were compared. As a result of the analysis, first, Estonia specifically suggested how the core competencies suggested in the general lecture were specifically connected to science subject. In addition, there was a characteristic that the inquiry function, attitude, and value were specifically presented in the curriculum document. Second, as a result of analyzing the core concepts of chemistry, most of the concepts dealt with in Korea were also dealt with in Estonia. However, Estonia has a tendency to deal more qualitatively with broader concepts. The concepts covered in the chemistry subject exceeded the level of the common curriculum in Korea, but this subject also had the characteristic of attempting a qualitative approach.
