  • Through-the-thickness properties of thick-walled cylindrical composites are required to determine structural performances because interlaminar tensile stress is primarily responsible for structural failure of the composites during their curing process. It is necessary for evaluating the tensile properties to find individual test methods to find appropriate methods because there are no recognised international standards(test methods and test specifications) available for generating reliable tensile properties in the direction. This paper has performed an experimental Study to measure that properties of carbon fabric/phenolic composites are produced by domestic company. Several test methods using an aluminum specimen were compared and evaluated. The best method, found out, was adopted to measure transverse through-the-thickness properties of composite materials. The results show that strain trends on four faces of composite specimen are the same.

  • Load carrying capacity evaluation is very important element in maintenance of bridge. There are several reasons about differences in deflection caused by loading test and structural analysis. Especially when we do modeling uniformly without considering real structural characteristics of support, this problem can be more deepened. This computes modification factor high so we may evaluate the load carrying capacity more than fact. In this study, we do structural analysis nearing real structure with negative bending moment of support that computes considering structural characteristics of support, and then evaluate load carrying capacity.

  • Structural tests for the mixing head of a 75tonf class thrust chamber were performed to verify structural stability. The mixing head of a thrust chamber is loaded by high pressure with regeneratively cooled fuel and cryogenic liquid oxygen(LOx) as well as it transfers thrust load generated by liquid rocket engine. Therefore structural stability of mixing head is a very important factor to work without any plastic deformation or structural failure. In this study, two mixing heads were manufactured using different welding methods, Tungsten Inert Gas(TIG) welding and Electron Beam Welding(EBW) and evaluated a structural stability. The results of structural tests showed that the mixing head assembled by EBW can withstand the applied design load without any structural failures and be structurally more stable than that of TIG welding.

  • A PHE (Process Heat Exchanger) is a key component required to transfer heat energy of $950^{\circ}C$ generated in a VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) to a chemical reaction that yields a large quantity of hydrogen. A small-scale PHE prototype made of Hastelloy-X was scheduled for testing in a small-scale gas loop at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. In this study, as a part of the evaluation of the high-temperature structural integrity of the PHE prototype, high-temperature structural analysis modeling, and macroscopic thermal and elastic-plastic structural analysis of the PHE prototype were carried out under the gas-loop test conditions as a preliminary qwer123$study before carrying out the performance test in the gas loop. The results obtained in this study will be used to design the performance test setup for the modified PHE prototype.

  • Load test for newly introduced precast segmental bridge is carried out to experimentally evaluate load carrying capacity, Analysis accompanied with the test is also performed and the results are used in the evaluation. In addition to initial evaluation of the bridge by load test, remote dynamic monitoring system to perform realtime assessment of the bridge condition is also under development. In this paper the procedure and results of load test and evaluation are presented along with introduction of dynamic monitoring system.

  • The design of reactor internals requires the accurate vibration characteristics of each component for subsequent dynamic structural response analyses. For Korean standard nuclear power plant some modifications on the Control Element Assembly shroud from the reference design have been made, Since the shroud is complex in geometry having an array of vertical round tubes and webs in a square grid pattern, and being tied down by preloaded tie rods into position, it is planned to perform a vibration measurement program consisting of both experimental and analytical modal studies upon that component. The shroud modal testing was performed on the low frequency global survey to measure the first several modes. The analysis using the finite element model was also performed for the as-tested conditions. The natural frequencies and mode shapes from both test and analysis have been acquired and compared to be in good agreement. It is concluded that finite element model generated is good enough to be used in the design for the dynamic response analysis under various loading conditions.

  • Impact tests are performed on the high strength structural steel that is being developed for the submarine material. Especially, the impact characteristics of this structural steels at low temperatures are investigated by charpy impact testing. Hyperbolic tangent curve fitting method is used to evaluate the LSE(lower shelf energy), USE(upper shelf energy) and DBTT(ductile-brittle transition temperature). Proportional equations between charpy impact energy and lateral expansion are obtained using the test results. Effect of temperature on the fracture appearance is investigated by using SEM.

  • To evaluate structural safety factor of the jet vane for the thrust deflection system under the dynamic pressure and very high temperature($2700^{\circ}C$) of the combustion gas flow, the high temperature tension tests of refractory metals and 3-D nonlinear numerical simulations are performed. Through the analysis of high temperature structural behavior for jet vane, the structural safety of jet vane is evaluated, and numerical results are compared with static pound tests of jet vanes. It has been found that most of structural and thermal loading is concentrated on the vane shaft which worked as safe under $1400^{\circ}C$. From the comparison of static ground tests and numerical results, the evaluation criterion using the vane load and shaft displacement is more useful to estimate the structural safety than using the equivalent stress.

  • This study conducted aeromechanics modeling and structural load analyses of Tilt Rotor Aeroacoustic Model (TRAM), a 25% scaled V-22 tiltrotor model used in wind tunnel tests. A rotorcraft comprehensive analysis code, CAMRAD II, was used. Analysis results of this study in low-speed forward flights were compared with DNW test and previous analysis results. Blade flap bending moments were in good agreement with measured data. Mean values and oscillatory loads for lead-lag bending and torsion moments were slightly different from measured data. However, when mean values were removed, results of structural loads for one rotor revolution were moderately compared with wind tunnel tests and previous analyses. Total forces and half peak-to-peak forces of the pitch link reasonably well matched with previous analysis results and measured data. Finally, harmonic magnitudes of blade structural loads were investigated.
