Dynamic Responses of Base Isolation Devices for Telecommunication Equipment in Building Structures (건축물 내 방송통신설비를 위한 면진장치의 동적거동)

  • In earthquake situations, broadcasting and communication services are directly linked to rapid on-site rescue and effective restoration works. Recently, a variety of base isolation devices are widely introduced on building floors to avoid critical seismic damages of telecommunication facilities. However, in buildings with long fundamental periods, those devices may have undesirable amplification of seismic responses due to resonance effect between the building floors and base isolation devices. This study performs the seismic safety evaluation of two types of base isolation devices deployed for telecommunication facilities in mid- and high-rise buildings through numerical and experimental approaches. It is found that mid- and high-rise buildings can have low-frequency dynamic responses at the top floor when being subjected to design basis earthquake loading. Furthermore, bi-directional shake table testing demonstrated that the selected base isolation devices can exhibit unstable dynamic behaviors under such low-frequency excitations of the floor.

Pipeline Structural Damage Detection Using Self-Sensing Technology and PNN-Based Pattern Recognition (자율 감지 및 확률론적 신경망 기반 패턴 인식을 이용한 배관 구조물 손상 진단 기법)

  • In a structure, damage can occur at several scales from micro-cracking to corrosion or loose bolts. This makes the identification of damage difficult with one mode of sensing. Hence, a multi-mode actuated sensing system is proposed based on a self-sensing circuit using a piezoelectric sensor. In the self sensing-based multi-mode actuated sensing, one mode provides a wide frequency-band structural response from the self-sensed impedance measurement and the other mode provides a specific frequency-induced structural wavelet response from the self-sensed guided wave measurement. In this study, an experimental study on the pipeline system is carried out to verify the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed structural health monitoring approach. Different types of structural damage are artificially inflicted on the pipeline system. To classify the multiple types of structural damage, a supervised learning-based statistical pattern recognition is implemented by composing a two-dimensional space using the damage indices extracted from the impedance and guided wave features. For more systematic damage classification, several control parameters to determine an optimal decision boundary for the supervised learning-based pattern recognition are optimized. Finally, further research issues will be discussed for real-world implementation of the proposed approach.

Optimized Cross-section Suggestion of a New Concept Lining Board through Parametric Study (매개변수해석을 통한 신개념 복공판의 최적단면 제안)

  • In this paper, to overcome disadvantages of existing lining boards, the parametric studies to evaluate safety and verify performance of newly suggested lining boards was performed. Since the calculated stresses of steel plates are lower than the allowable stress for considered all analytical variables, end reinforcement locations, and crane rail loads, it can be concluded that the suggested lining board is structurally safe. Where, "$3,000{\times}2,000{\times}6t$" was select to be optimized cross-section and the reinforcement from the end to 200mm to the internal direction looks like the best case. In addition, the suggested lining board is economical since the steel amount per unit area compared to existing lining board is reduced by 36% and it can apply to the lining structural system of subway and underpass since construction speed is past due to the less installation number of lining boards.

  • The structural safety of expansion joints for piping systems has been drawing attention owing to ruptures and leaks of water pipes caused by earthquakes and road subsidence at soft ground. In general, metal bellows are installed as expansion joints to prevent various damages in the piping system. In this study, the seismic performance of a valve chamber system was evaluated by performing earthquake shaking table tests. To validate the benefits to structural safety of metal bellows in connecting steel pipes to valve chambers, the seismic tests were conducted on expansion joints (bellows) and general pipping, and the results were compared for durability. Strain gauges were attached to measure the effects of the input motion. As a result of the shaking table test, it was confirmed that the strain of the valve chamber structure and inflow or outflow steel pipes were decreased in 1/100, 1/20 by applied to the expansion joints.

  • In the case of the railway bridges, uplift forces were occurred at the edge of the segments when vehicular loads were applied. These forces caused the compressive and tensile forces in the fastening system. In the past, a structural analysis has been performed to investigate the safety of fastening system which was modeled with one directional spring elements based on the compressive test of fastening system. In this case, the stiffness of the spring element was obtained from experimental study which was conducted by compressive load. Therefore, to perform rational and exact structural analysis, the translational stiffness of the fastening system obtained from the experimental study applied the tensile load and the rotational stiffness should be considered because it was occurred the tensile force as well as the compressive force in fastening system. In this study, an elastic and inelastic experimental study was performed for six specimens. The translational stiffness along the vertical axis of rail and the rotational stiffness along the strong axis of rail were investigated, also structural behavior of the fastening system was analyzed.

  • 분류가 모서리에 충돌할 때 발생하는 순음성 소리인 쐐기소리(edgetone)는 공력음향의 대표적인 현상으로서 지금까지 수많은 연구가 있어 왔으며 그 대부분의 특성이 규명되었다고 할 수 있다. 쐐기소리의 발생기구인 되먹임(feedback) 이론을 처음으로 제안한 이는 Powell로서 그는 되먹임사이클의 위상조건에 의하여 주파수특성에 관한 모델을 제안하였으며, 최근 그 모델의 위상인자에 관하여 Kwon은 새로운 값을 제안한 바 있다. 그런데, 쐐기소리의 이론은 주로 분류가 쐐기나 벽에 충돌할 경우에 집중되어 왔으며 분류가 원통에 충돌하여 발생하는 경우에 관한 연구는 Krothapalli의 초음속분류에 관한 연구와 Mochizuki등의 아음속분류에서 원통지름의 영향에 관한 연구를 들 수 있을 뿐이다. Mochizuki등은 원통의 지름이 노즐의 높이보다 작은 경우에 쐐기 소리의 주파수가 원통의 와류이탈(vortex shedding) 주파수와 같은 것을 관찰하였다. 그러나 분류와 원통이 작용하여 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수 특성에 관한 이론적 해석을 시도한 연구는 없으며 또한 방사음장의 특성에 관하여도 Han과 Kwon에 의한 모델이 발표된 바 있으나 실험적으로 입증되지 못하였다. 따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 2 fig.1과 같이 2차원 분류가 원통에 충돌할 때 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수특성의 정량적인 모델을 세우고 방사음장의 지향특성의 이론 모델을 확립하는 것이다. 먼저 주파수특성을 실험하고 되먹임이론을 적용하여 분석하므로써 유효음원의 위치를 구하고 또한, 수직벽에 작용하여 발생하는 충돌음(impinging tone)의 경우를 실험하여 주파수특성을 비교 고찰하므로써 유효음원의 위치에 관한 이론을 입증한다. 아울러 원통과 평면벽의 각 경우에 방사음장의 지향특성을 측정하고 고찰한다.2,5,6]을 단계별로 고찰하여, 점점 까다로워져 가는 선박 진동규제[3,4]에 대처하고 승무원의 안락성에 대한 욕구, 구조물의 안전성, 장비의 성능보존이 만족되는 저진동 선박의 건조를 위해 향후 해결해야할 과제들을 도출하여 선박진동분야이 연구개발 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 하는 것은 진단의 정밀도에 문제가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 언어적진리치가 도입되어 [상당히 확실], [확실], [약간 확실] 등의 언어적인 표현을 이용하여 애매성을 표현하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 간이진단 결과로부터 추출된 애매한 진단결과중에서 가장 가능성이 높은 이상원인을 복수로 선정하고, 여러 종류의 수치화할 수 없는 언어적(linguistic)인 정보ㄷㄹ을 if-then 형식의 퍼지추론으로 종합하는 회전기계의 이상진단을 위한 정밀진단 알고리즘을 제안하고 그 유용성을 검토한다. 존재하여도 모우드 변수들을 항상 정확하게 구할 수 있으며, 또한 알고리즘의 안정성이 보장된 것이다.. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. Evaluation of Chloride Absorption in GGBS Concrete by Impedance Measurements (임피던스 측정을 통한 GGBS 콘크리트의 염화물 흡수 평가)

  • It is essential that service life of reinforced concrete structures in economic and safety aspects should be secured. It is well-known that chloride attack is a typical deterioration mechanism in field concrete structures. To prevent serious accidents like collapse, many studies have been conducted to increase resistance of chloride ingress using concrete mixed with GGBS. The usage of GGBS concrete is nowadays mandatory. Since most concretes in the field are unsaturated, study regarding chloride absorption is necessary, but many studies have focused on the chloride diffusion phenomenon. Methods for evaluating chloride absorption are cost and improper in the field. It is necessary to develop a simple method for evaluating chloride absorption in practice. This study evaluated resistance of chloride ingress in GGBS concretes with impedance measurement and absorption test. From the results, it was confirmed that the contents of absorbed chloride were linearly correlated with the measured electrical resistivities (or conductivities) in the concrete. At the end of the test, the electrical conductivities were 250.8 S/m (w/b=0.4) and 303.1 S/m (w/b=0.6) for PC concretes, and 2.6 S/m (w/b=0.4) and 64.4 S/m (w/b=0.6) for GGBS concretes, respectively. Considering influencing factors for chloride absorption and impedance measurement, chloride ingress into concrete is mainly affected by pore structures due to replacement of GGBS. Especially, formations of pore structure are different with binder, thereby binders should be considered in building reinforced concrete structures exposed to chloride environments.

  • In this study, hydraulic and hydrologic safety of an existing dam with morning glory spillway was evaluated and the problems were derived in order to control extreme floods efficiently. For design flood(520cms and EL. 170.3m), the spillway was turned out to have no problem for discharge and negative pressure in vertical transition. However, the critical point for discharge starts with EL. 170.7m which transits weir flow condition to orifice flow condition and there may be negative pressure in weir crest. While maximum water level can not be greater than EL. 170.5m including freeboard according to the dam design criteria, the maximum water level based on reservoir routing was turned out to be EL. 172.46m, and fundamental measures should be requested and planned.

  • Large-scale petrochemical and power plants has increased demanting wireless technology for continuous monitoring. However, the current USN technologies, such as ZigBee and Bluetooth, are lackof reliability and security. Therefore, there is a strong need to apply a new wireless technology standard of the ISA. In this study, a petrochemicalplant safety management system based on the ISA wireless transmitter isdeveloped. ISA100.11a communication module and LTE communication module equippedwith an explosion-proof wireless transmitter are developed. A petrochemicalplant safety management system is built based on the IoT technologies. Thedeveloped system is verified through a wide range of testing and thus, on-siteapplicability is proved.

  • The purpose of this study is to rationally determine the priority of seismic reinforcement of main(key) members of bridges. Cable Supported bridge was selected as the evaluation target and the reliability based on the probability distribution was used to evaluate the seismic fragility of the key members as a quantitative indicator. The safety factor, which is a random variable, is considered an artificial (fixed load and live load) load and a natural (earthquake, wind, temperature, etc.) load. The seismic load is applied as a possible earthquake during the lifetime of the bridge. From analyzing the fragility of each key member based on the seismic reliability, it can be concluded that the shoe (23.8%) was the most fragile, where the other members are ranked as place concrete (20.5%), pier (18.9%), foundation (17.3%) and cable (5.0%) respectively.
