  • The purpose of this study is to develop the scale on Selection, Optimization, Compensation(SOC) model as successful aging strategies of Korean Elderly. In first phase of the study, 64 pilot items were collected from researcher's indepth interviews with a purposive sample group of 24 elderly people(16 items) and original SOC scale(48 items). To analyze the factor structure and to verify the validity of the scale, 592 questionnaires collected from survey were divided randomly into 300 developmental samples and 292 validity samples. The items were examined exploratory with developmental samples and confirmatory factor analysis with developmental samples. Two factor analysis supported four factor structure of the SOC consisted of 20 items. Four factors are as follows: 'Elective Selection', 'Loss-Based Selection', 'Opimization', 'Compensation'. The cronbach's alpha estimate of the scale was .930. This scale of four factor model exhibited good fit, assessed by overall fit measure criteria(TLI=.939, CFI=.947, RMSEA=.058). The result of analysis by item response theory for SOC scale is satisfatory. Also, SOC scale was significantly related to the two successful aging scales for Korean elderly and life satisfation scale(SWLS). These results proved the validity of the scale.

  • This study serves the main research purpose of verifying the hypothetical relationship between antecedent and consequence variables of shopping experience based on the classification system by Schmitt (1999) who dimensionalized experience into five components (sense, feel, think, act, relate). Specifically, the study seeks to fulfill the following three research objectives. First, it substantiates dynamic relationships among the five experiential components comprising the strategic experiential modules that serve as the basis of the theoretical framework of the study. Especially, it focuses on interactive relationships among the experiential components by taking a holistic view of the experience. Second, the study seeks to uncover the effects of pre-experiential antecedents such as shopping motivation and shopping involvement, based on taxonomy of motivation as product-centered vs. experience-centered. Third, the study investigates the effects of shopping experience on intention to revisit with regard to department store, discount store, and Internet shops, based on customers' store experiences. The major findings from this study are as follows: first, the five experiential components were found to have a high level of correlations according to hypothesis verification. Second, shopping motivation was learned to have significant effects on preference toward thinking as well as feeling experiences. That is, product-centered (vs. experience-centered) shopping motivation exerted a greater influence on cognitive (vs. affective experience than affective (vs. cognitive) experience.

  • The present paper reviews the development of democracy in the West and Korea. The first part of the paper provide a cultural framework for understanding the development of democracy in West and Korea. In the second part of the paper, an empirical study conducted in Korea will be presented. A survey questionnaire was developed to assess respondents' conception of political participation, political efficacy, trust, leadership, and social relations and it has been administered to national stratified sample in Korea (n=1,000). The results indicate that Korean respondents support the basic ideas of liberal democracy, such as the right to vote, participate in political organization, freedom of speech, and criticize government. At the same time, Korean respondents supported collective values, such as harmonious family life, harmonious social relations, and governmental welfare programs. Although Koreans trusted close ingroup members, such as family members and friends, they were less likely to trust their colleagues and outgroup members and were not likely to trust political and governmental institutions. Moreover, Korean respondents showed a low degree of political participation and efficacy and a high degree of political alienation. As for leadership, Koreans preferred moral and strong leaders. The overall results indicate that in Korea, although the basic ideals of democracy are valued, the method of implementing these ideals is different from the West. Detailed analysis of the results and implications of the study will be presented.

  • Since there are differences in the content, structure and functions of interpersonal communication during the practice of school science classes, it needs to articulate the difference of the modality of pedagogical practice in order to understand science teaching in detail. These characteristics of science teaching can be investigated by further insightful analysis on language in the science classroom. In this study, classroom discourse language codes using Bernstein's code theory were analyzed in the case of a middle school science class on the unit of minerals. The discourse language code was identified by the value of classification, which revealed power relations to the contexts of discourse and participants of discourse. It was also identified by the value of framing, which showed hierarchical relation between teacher and students as discourse subjects, and discursive control on the initiative of discourse. The results addressed that six types of discourse language codes were constructed and that those language codes reflected diverse modalities of science teaching from student-centered instruction to teacher-centered instruction in relation to classroom discourse. The modality of science teaching according to the transition tendencies of discourse language code showed dynamic variations of 'controlled student-centeredness inducing teaching' - 'positional student-centeredness permissive teaching' - 'controlled students' participation permissive teaching' - 'controlled student-centeredness facilitative teaching' - 'student-centeredness enhancing teaching'. In addition, results released that discursively and hierarchically weak control of discourse is necessary for enhancing student-centeredness of science teaching. Moreover, teaching practice enhancing student-centeredness can be accomplished by the harmony of a teacher's perception of discourse language code and his/her orientation to constructivist teaching and student-centered teaching.

  • Power plant engineering industry obtains EPC plan project and delivers results about electricity, measurement, machinery, and piping and so on. Its works are taken by projects. Although power plant engineering composes 2~5% of whole EPC project cost, it's one of the fundamentals because it affects process after planning step a lot. However, domestic power plant engineering companies' project performance ability is insufficient and there's a need for systematic performance. Thus, this study defined related factors of successful performance and analyzed the priority among them through analytical hierarchy process. All respondents recognized experience, knowledge, and communication as important factors. Administrators considered knowledge, experience, and communication. But hands-on workers considered experience, knowledge, human resources. Those who have experience in oversea project considered process, experience, human resources. However those who don't have experience in oversea project considered knowledge, experience, and communication. Recognition of important factors varies by the position and work experience of members.

  • This study compared the characteristics of an experiment f or determining whether gas occupies space presented in elementary school science textbooks to examine the validity of the experiment, identify and improve problems in its presentation, and verify its effectiveness. This study interviewed third-year elementary school teachers who had experience teaching this experiment to students. Based on teachers' opinions and observations, this study identified issues with the current experiment, developed an improved experiment, and determined its effectiveness. Through this analysis, three key findings emerged. First, the study found that the original experiment on gases was presented in the same or highly similar manner in 5 of 7 textbooks (71.4%). Thus, while various textbooks have been developed with the aim of promoting diversity and creativity in scientific literature, most experiments presented in these books are identical. Second, the existing experiment was not suitable for its target audience (third-year elementary school students) and was difficult to observe directly. The interviewed teachers also deemed the validity of the experiment to be considerably low. Finally, the original experiment was improved; this improved version was determined to be highly valid, showing a statistically significant difference compared with the original experiment. The improved experiment was effective for students as it involved activities suitable for their intellectual level and was directly observable through the senses. Thus, the study analyzed and improved an existing science experiment f or elementary students, providing insights into the 2022 revised science authorized textbooks and implications for future textbook development.

  • The lactate electrode can be utilized either as an electrode for lactate sensor to monitor the patient's health status, stress level, and athlete's fatigue in real time or lactate fuel cell. In this study, we fabricated a high-performance electrode composed of lactate oxidase, catalase, and mitochondria, and investigated the surface analysis and electrochemical properties of this electrode. Carbon paper modified with single-walled carbon nanotubes (CP-SWCNT) had significantly improved electrical conductivity compared to before modification. The electrode to which lactate oxidase, catalase, and mitochondria were attached (CP-SWCNT-LOx-Cat-Mito) produced a higher current than the electrode to which lactate oxidase and catalase were attached. The amount of reduction current produced by the bilirubin oxidase (BOD)-attached electrode (CP-SWCNT-BOD) was greatly affected by the presence or absence of oxygen in the electrolyte. The fuel cell composed of CP-SWCNT-LOx-Cat-Mito (anode) and CP-SWCNT-BOD (cathode) produced maximum power (29 ㎼/cm2) at a discharge current density of 133 ㎂/cm2. From this study, we had proved that mitochondria is essential for improving lactate sensor and fuel cell performance.

  • Recently, the importance of HR analytics for data-based decision-making in establishing and operating an effective human resource management system for companies is increasing. In addition, there is growing interest in the effect of employees' perceptions of organizational justice on positive organizational behavior. Therefore, in this study, among the various factors affecting teamwork behavior, we analyzed the impact on teamwork behavior such as perception of organizational justice and organizational culture. Organizational justice has a significant impact on the formation of members' attitudes, but its meaning may vary depending on the organizational context. In this study, we divided organizational justice into four types (procedural, distributive, interpersonal, and informational fairness) and confirmed their impact on teamwork behavior. In addition, organizational culture was divided into hierarchy culture and innovation culture, and how to regulate these relationships was examined. To analyze these relationships, individual-level data collected from 657 people at domestic companies were used for analysis. According to the analysis results, in a hierarchical culture, procedural justice and information justice had a positive influence on teamwork behavior through the mediating process of job satisfaction, and in an innovative culture, interpersonal justice and information justice had a positive influence on teamwork behavior through job satisfaction. It was confirmed to have a (+) effect. These research results provide implications for people management by indicating that, although organizational justice is important to members and organizations, it may be perceived differently and have different meanings depending on the organizational context. Through the use of the information presented in this study, we will provide value that can effectively and efficiently implement a company's human resource management system.

  • This study examined the impact of internal and external motivation (enjoyment, challenge, sense of accomplishment, recognition, reward) and psychological ownership of members of a land transportation company on organizational effectiveness (job satisfaction, organizational commitment), and internal and external motivation and organizational commitment. We aim to analyze the moderating effect of psychological ownership in the relationship between effectiveness. To this end, a survey was conducted targeting employees working at land transportation companies, and the results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, among the intrinsic motivation factors of land transportation companies, challenge and sense of accomplishment had a significant impact on job satisfaction of organizational effectiveness, and enjoyment was confirmed to have an impact at a significant level. And only the sense of accomplishment had a significant effect on organizational commitment, while enjoyment and challenge had no effect. Second, recognition, an extrinsic motivator, had a significant effect on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment of organizational effectiveness, and compensation had an effect on job satisfaction but had no effect on organizational commitment. Third, psychological ownership had a significant effect on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Fourth, psychological ownership was found to have no moderating effect in the relationship between intrinsic motivation and organizational effectiveness, enjoyment in the relationship between challenge, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, and to have a moderating effect in the relationship with a sense of accomplishment. Fifth, psychological ownership had a moderating effect in the relationship between extrinsic motivation and organizational effectiveness, recognition, compensation, and job satisfaction, but was found to have no moderating effect in the relationship with organizational commitment. Therefore, there is a need to improve management performance by inducing organizational commitment through job satisfaction and subsequently leading to psychological ownership.
