Stability Analysis of Reacting Mixing Layers with Density Gradient and Wake Deficit (밀도구배 및 후류손실을 가지는 혼합층의 불안정성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigates the linear stability of both uniform and non-uniform density plane mixing layers with special emphasis on the effect of the wake component in the velocity profile. Velocity and density profiles for laminar flows are obtained from analytic profiles. Mixing layers with wakes have two generalized inflection points and two unstable modes-sinuous and varicose modes. For uniform density mixing layers, sinuous modes are more unstable than varicose modes, which shows wakes will be destabilized by sinuous modes. For non-uniform density mixing layers with high density in high speed flows, sinuous modes are more unstable than varicose modes. For non-uniform density mixing layers with high density in low speed flows, varicose modes can be more unstable than sinuous modes.

Investigation of Slab Thickness Influence on Prestressing Design of Post-Tensioned Concrete Pavement (포스트텐션 콘크리트 포장 긴장 설계에 대한 슬래브 두께의 영향 분석)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the slab thickness on the tensioning design and to determine the optimal slab thickness of the post-tensioned concrete pavement (PTCP). The tensile stresses due to the vehicle and environmental loads were obtained using a finite element analysis model and the tensioning stress was calculated employing an allowable flexural strength. The environmental loads of both the constant temperature gradient and the constant temperature difference between top and bottom of the slab were considered. The tensioning designs for various slab thicknesses were performed considering prestressing losses. The comparison results showed that generally as the thickness increased, the number of tendons became larger. Consequently, the design was not economical for a thicker slab thickness. Even though the number of tendons became smaller with an increase in the thickness under the small environmental load, a thicker PTCP slab was not economical because of a higher cost of concrete than that of steel. Therefore, the slab thickness should be kept in minimum within the construction available thicknesses.

  • 현재 대부분의 산업용 열기관은 효율을 높이기 위하여 연소에 사용되는 공기를 예열하는 방법을 사용한다. 하지만, 산업용 열기관에서 평균적으로 발생되는 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이상의 배기가스는 일반 금속 열교환기에는 적합하지 않다. 이에 반해 세라믹 열교환기의 경우 고온에서 견디는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 기본적인 열교환기 설계 이론을 이용하여 설계프로그램을 제작하였다. 또한 세라믹 열교환기 내 열 유체 거동을 CFD 상용코드인 FlUENT 6.2를 이용한 전산해석을 수행하여 설계결과를 비교 검증하였다. 설계 결과에서 휜의 형태 변화에 따라 열전달율과 온도구배는 무시할 수 있을 정도로 작았으나, 압력강하는 크게 변동되는 결과가 도출되었다. 제한된 모듈 크기에서 휜 간거리는 휜의 두께에 비해 약 3배 이상 클 경우가 적당하며, 판(plate)의 두께는 작을수록 압력손실이 적고, 열전달율이 상승하지만 두께가 너무 얇게 된다면 제작상의 어려움이 생긴다. 향후 연구에서는 단순한 구조에서 벗어나 off-set이나 판형구조를 고려하여 설계함으로서 열전달 면적을 넓히거나 난류유동을 발생시켜 열전달율을 높이는 연구를 진행 할 필요가 있다.

The Study on the Antireflection(AR) Coating Design Scheme According to the Index Profile in the Thin-Film Silicon Solar Cell (굴절률 분포에 따른 박막 실리콘 태양전지 반사방지막 설계기술 연구)

  • This paper shows an antireflection coating design skill for utilization the thin-film silicon solar cell in the future. The reflectivity of each index profile previously suggested as linear, cubic and quintic function has been calculated and compared. Each index profile is applied to the antireflection coating consisting of 6 layers with 180nm thickness. Also we suggest the graded index profile and compare it's reflectivity to the linear, cubic and quintic's ones. As a results we find the reflectivity generally decreases as the order goes to higher. However the reflectivity in the graded index profile shows the higher(lower) value than ones in the linear, cubic and quintic especially in the shorter(longer) wavelength range from 500 nm to below 700 nm(above 700 nm to 800 nm). Therefore we find that the graded index profile structure could be applied for the better antireflection coating design scheme especially for optical device and optical filter in the range of from deep red to infrared.

The Study on the Graded Index Antireflection(AR) Coating (구배형 굴절률 반사방지막 연구)

  • The various techniques proposed previously to obtain a good antireflection(AR) coating induce a scattering of incident light by nanoparticles or control the refractive index by using different materials. This paper compares a suggested graded index profile with the quintic index profile previously suggested for producing an index profile that gives good performance from an AR coating. We assume the structure of the AR coating has three, six, and nine layers with 180 nm total thickness. The wavelength of incident light ranges from 300 nm to 1100 nm. We use the transfer matrix theory for a single layer to obtain the reflectivity of three, six, and nine layers. The reflectivity of two different index profiles with three, six, and nine layers is compared. As a result, the suggested graded index profile shows lower reflectivity than the quintic index profile with three layers, especially in the wavelength range from about 600 nm to 1100 nm. Therefore, we expect that these results can be applied to optical devices and filters in the range from visible(red) to near infrared.

  • This research was conducted to analyze the behavior of Single-PTAS (Single Post-Tensioned Approach Slab) under tensioning and environmental loads by performing field tests when the demonstration Single-PTAS was being constructed. The temperature measurement sensors were installed at different depths, and the displacements in the approach slab under environmental loads and tensioning were measured using displacement transducers. As an experimental result, an abrupt change in the longitudinal displacement due to tensioning was not observed. The daily temperature change in the approach slab was negligible where the depth is over about 35cm. The temperature gradient in the approach slab adjacent to bridge was smaller than that adjacent to pavement. The patterns and magnitudes of vertical displacements were directly related to the temperature gradient at the measuring location. The behavior of Single-PTAS was very similar to that of concrete pavement. Therefore, a new design methodology for approach slabs is needed to include the pavement concept and to overcome drawback of current design procedures based on the simple beam concept.

  • 사출성형충전공정에서 금형구조가 단섬유배향에 미치는 영향을 예측하기 위하여 수 치모사 프로그램을 개발하였다. 유한요소 /관찰 부피 방법에 복잡한 금형에서의 유동을 해 석하고 섬유와 섬유간의 상호작용을 고려한 섬유배향텐서 변화식을 이용하여 입자 추적법으 로 섬유배향분포를 구하였다. 수치모사 결과 금형 옆벽면과 내부 방해체의 주위에 있는 섬 유들이 전단변형의 영향으로 그들주위를 따라서 정렬되려는 경향을 보였다, 두 유동이 내부 방해체를 지나 접하면서 생성된 웰드라인을 따라서 단섬유들이 정렬되려는 경향을 나타내엇 다. 그리고 수축유동에서는 흐름방향으로 정렬되나 확장유동에서는 흐름방향에 수직으로 배 열되려는 경향을 확인하였다. 위아래 벽에 의한 전단변형의 영향으로 서로 다른두 배향구조 를 보여주는 skin-core 구조를 두께방향의 속도구배를 고려한 수치모사를 통하여 예측할 수 있었다. skin구조에서는 섬유들이 흐름방향으로 정렬되고 core 구조에서는 흐름방향에 수직 으로 배향되는 것을 확인하였으며 섬유상호계수값이 커질수록 임의 배향화하는 경향을 보였다.

Arc-type Wheel Profile Design and Test Results (원호형 차륜답면형상(안) 설계 및 현차시험 결과)

  • The rolling-stocks on conventional line have suffered wheel problems due to the incompatibility between wheel and track condition. Especially, The 1:40 coned wheel profile's wear is very severe and these increase wheel maintenance cost. Thus we designed several arc-type wheel profiles coned 1:/20 to reduce the wheel flange wear and analyzed the dynamic performance of designed profiles. Tests carried out in service line to analyse the dynamic performance and verify the wear reduction for two cases of profiles. Test results shows the equal level of dynamic performance and the improvement of wheel flange wear compared with the conical wheel profile coned 1:40.

A Study on Growth of Citrine (황수정 육성에 관한 연구)

  • Synthetic citrines were grown by hydrothermal method. For the establishment of grown conditions of large citrine, various types and/or amount of nutrients, seed orientations, mineralizers, colorants and temperature gradients were studied. For the evaluation of the quality of as grown citrine, color tone, crystal form, macro-and micro-defects were observed and crystal structure and absorption spectrums were analyzed. As a result, large sized citrines of 205mm L x 58mm W x 35mm T with excellent color tone and minium defects were grown.
