The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of stress on the habits of temporomandibular disorder in college students. The subjects in this study were 396 male and female students who were in their first to fourth years at five different colleges located in Jeollabuk-do. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the degree of bad oral habits, "sleeping on one side" was the most common bad oral habit, followed by "enjoying caffeinated beverages," "resting the chin on the hand or a thing" and "chewing food in one side of the mouth only." As a result of analyzing their stress by general characteristics including gender, there were significant differences according to gender in stress about school life problems, one's own problems and economic difficulties, and only stress about one's own problems statistically significantly varied with academic year. When the correlation of the factors was analyzed, perceived stress about school life problems and one's own problems had a significant positive correlation with bad oral habit scores. When a multiple linear regression analysis was made to determine the influence of general characteristics and perceived stress on bad oral habit scores, gender, academic year, self-rated oral health status, stress about school life problems and stress about one's own problems were identified as significant variables. The findings of the study illustrated that there was an organic relationship between the bad oral habits and stress of the college students.
This study was conducted to identify the oral function problems of workers according to Korean Standard Classification of Occupations (KSCO) and to provide evidentiary material to promote them to revise the Occupational Safety and Health Act so that workers can benefit from the collective oral healthcare project. For the research materials, it was used the 7th raw data (1st and 2nd) of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. It was examined the problems of chewing and speaking for the workers over 19 years old by KSCO. The connection between the types of workers and the problems of chewing and speaking has been confirmed (p<0.05). In order to improve the workers' oral healthcare, the collective oral healthcare project should be implemented. Therefore, the Occupational Safety and Health Act should be revised to hire professional health care manager with expertise, who will be host of the collective oral healthcare project.

This study examined whether a correlation exists between the oral health indices assessed by experts and the self-perceived oral health status to develop practical oral health improvement programs for adults. In addition, this study provides basic data for carrying out oral health projects that can enhance the quality of life of adults. The raw data for the 2nd year (2014) of the 6th national health and nutrition survey were analyzed. Among those surveyed, adults over the age of 19 were designated as research subjects. In all age groups, correspondents with a higher DMFT Index assessed their self-perceived oral health status to be 'poor'. The oral health index evaluated by experts showed a correlation with the self-perceived oral health status. Therefore, as a higher self-perceived oral health status might help improve the objective oral health indices, oral health improvement programs should be strengthened to instill self-perceived oral health behavior.
To investigate the relationship between mental health and oral health problems in the elderly, this study was conducted using raw data from the 7th 3rd(2018) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, targeting 753 elderly people aged 65 and over. For data analysis, complex sample analysis was performed using IBM SPSS 22.0 program. In the case of chewing problem, the odds ratio increased in the group with high stress perception and depression(p<0.05). In the case of speaking problem, the odds ratio increased in the group that received mental health counseling(p<0.05). As a result of this study, it was found that there is a relationship between mental health and oral health problems in the elderly. Therefore, it is thought that it is necessary to improve the quality of life through the development of programs to improve the mental health of the elderly and oral health problems.

This study investigated 2,088 economically active workers aged 20 to 65 years selected from the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to evaluate the relationship between chronic diseases and oral health behaviors among economic workers and examine the risk factors for oral diseases. The results of the study were as follows. Dental caries were related to subjective oral health status, toothache experience, orthodontic treatment experience, chewing problems, speaking problems, oral examination, and dental clinic use. Periodontal disease was associated with oral health status, toothache experience, orthodontic experience, and chewing and speaking problems. The risk factors for chronic diseases and oral health behavior were as follows. Hypertension, 1.37 times; obesity, 1.48 times; diabetes, 1.5 times; low HDL-cholesterol, 1.31 times; hepatitis A antibody, 1.53 times higher. Health status was found to be 1.70 times higher in dental caries and 2.10 times higher in periodontal disease. The tooth experience was 1.30 times higher in dental caries and 1.35 times higher in periodontal disease. Problems chewing were 1.76 times for dental caries and 1.78 times for periodontal disease. The possibility of dental caries and periodontal disease was 1.44 times higher. Smokers were 1.61 times more likely to have dental caries and 1.63 times more likely to have periodontal disease. These results suggest that periodontal diseases increase the risk of chronic diseases and oral health behavior increases the risk of dental caries and periodontal disease. Although dental caries seem to have a lower risk of becoming a chronic disease if only oral health care is good, it is considered that both chronic disease and oral health care are important for periodontal disease.

This study examined the oral health-related quality of life of the elderly using the oral health index and dental prosthesis status, and explored methods to improve the oral health status. The data collected from 'The fifth Korean national health and nutrition examination survey 2010' were analyzed. The subjects were 2273 elderly people, aged 65 years or older, who had completed an oral examination, health questionnaires and nutrition examination. Statistical analysis was done using the SPSS 22.0 for Windows. Frequency analysis, multiple regression analysis and structural equation model were used for statistical analysis. The general characteristics, oral health index and dental prosthesis showed differences in the subjective oral health status associated with as age, ST, FS-T, T-Health, maxillary crown needs, maxillary denture needs, mandibular denture needs, chewing status associated with the income level, FS-T, maxillary crown needs, maxillary denture needs, mandibular denture needs, speaking status associated with the ST, T-Health, maxillary implant status, and maxillary denture needs. In conclusion, both the oral health index and dental prosthesis needs affect the oral health related quality of life of the elderly. Governments should implement a variety of oral health programs and dental prosthesis policies to improve the quality of life related oral health of the elderly.
The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of depression on chewing problems and the importance of oral aids through a point-in-time analysis. The data are the 4th(2008, 2nd year) and the 7th(2018, 3rd year) of the National Health and Nutrition Survey. The analysis method was frequency analysis and regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. Studies have shown that depression has affected chewing problems(p<.001). Chronic diseases and the use of oral aids affected the chewing problem. The prevalence and treatment of depression affected the chewing problems(p<.001). In addition, private health insurance coverage increased in 2018 compared to 2008. In the future, the comparative studies considering various subjects and chronic diseases, the educational methods for the use of oral aids are needed.
