Reconstruction Analysis of Pedestrian Collision Accidents Using Fuzzy Methods (퍼지수법을 활용한 보행자 충돌사고 재구성 해석)

  • In order to reconstruct vehicle-pedestrian collision accidents, this paper presents a fuzzy tool to estimate accurately the impact velocity of the vehicle using parameters which could be easily collectable at the accident scene. The fuzzy rules and membership functions were set up using number of over 200 domestic and foreign data from accidents and empirical tests and 700 data from multibody simulation experiments. The developed fuzzy tool deduces the category of pedestrian trajectory and impact speed of the vehicle using 4 membership functions and 2 logic rules. The membership function of throw distance was differently set according to the deduced category of trajectories. The implemented fuzzy program was validated through comparing with the domestic and foreign empirical data. The output results agree very well in impact velocities of vehicle resulting the accuracy and usefulness of the developed tool in the reconstruction analysis of vehicle-pedestrian collision accidents.

A Study on Competitiveness Improvement Strategies of Korean Coffee Franchisers in Beijing, China through a Positioning Analysis (포지셔닝 분석을 통한 국내 커피전문기업의 중국 베이징 지역 내 경쟁력 강화방안 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the important selection attributes of coffee brands and the relative positions of major coffee brands on the positioning map through similarities and preferences of coffee brands that customers perceive and (2) to provide Korean coffee brands with strategic information about how to differentiate themselves from existing competitors in the Chinese market. A total of 268 samples were used for data analysis that comprised frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, ALSCAL, and regression analysis. The results showed that among 8 coffee brand selection attributes the most important was atmosphere, followed by cleanness and sanitary condition, and convenient location and transportation. Friendly service, taste of coffee, price and variety of menu were next and brand was the least important among 8 selection attributes. The results of positioning map showed that Maan Coffee was evaluated the highest iin atmosphere, cleanness and sanitary condition, and convenient location and transportation compared to other coffee brands. Marketing strategies for Korean coffee franchisers (Angel-in-us Coffee and Caffe Bene) were provided for successful repositioning in the Beijing coffee market.

  • The standardization of Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) technique should secure a interoperability among the different softwares or hardwares on ITS service. The domestic standard research takes the advantage of a preoccupation on the world ITS market through the international standard(IS) reflecting the domestic technique. The objective of this research focused on the database technology for ITS is to introduce the domestic standard activity for adopting ISs and the current interior corresponding situation against ISs. The first step, we analyze the international standardization action through gathering and investigating the up-to-date issues and documentations focused on ISO/TC204 WG3. And then, we look into the domestic situation about TTA ITS PG 310 and ITS Korea. consequently, a synthetic view, we have analyzied, how interior standard corresponds with the international standards, and how the standard establishing process is being done. The expectation of this research is to help understanding the up-to-date domestic/international standardization and the situation of the standard action related with the database technology for ITS. Also, we take advantage of this result to encourage the international competitiveness on ITS market.

Performance Evaluation and Economic Analysis for the Road Visibility Measurement System using the CCTV Camera (CCTV 카메라를 이용한 도로시정측정시스템의 성능평가 및 경제성 분석)

  • A key element of the fog warning system to prevent large traffic accidents is a visibility measurement device. Recently, the need for it that is similar to the human visual sense and cheap and accurate than expensive fog sensors is increasing. In this paper, we present the performance evaluation and the economic analysis of the Road Visibility Measurement System (RVMS), which is developed for measuring the road visibility through a CCTV camera. For experiments, we have installed a CCTV camera, a fog sensor, and visibility signs at the Yeo-ju Test Road on the Central Inland Expressway. We evaluated the measurements from RVMS and the fog sensor based on observations. The result shows RVMS outperforms the fog sensor with respect to measurement stability and correctness. We also show RVMS has higher economic feasibility and various applications. RVMS can prevent the traffic accidents caused by severe fog and enhance the process of the wide-area visibility information system significantly.

  • In design of bridges, estimation of actions and loadings is very important for the safety and maintenance of bridges. In general, effect of traffic loading on the bridge can be modeled as live load (including impact load) and fatigue load. For estimation of traffic loading, it is important to get reliable and comprehensive truck statistical data such as the traffic and weight information. To get statistical data, Bridge Weigh-In-Motion (BWIM), which measures the truck weights without stopping the traffic, is need to be developed. In this study, BWIM system with various functions is developed first. Then this system is used to get comprehensive truck data. Traffic loadings including fatigue and live loading are formulated from the truck data acquired from the bridges. Objectives of this study are to develop the BWIM system, to apply the system in test bridge in Highway, and to formulate the live and fatigue loading for bridge design.

  • Many studies on bus scheduling optimization have been done from the 1960s to recent years for establishing rational bus schedule plan that can improve convenience of bus passengers and minimize unnecessary runs. After 2000, as part of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), the importance of the schedule management and providing schedule information through bus schedule optimization has become a big issue, and much research is being done to develop optimization models that will increase bus passenger convenience and, on the side of bus management, minimize unnecessary bus operation. The purpose of this study is to calculate the optimal bus frequency and create a timetable for each bus stop by applying DTR or DTRC model that use data for each bus stop and route segment. Model verification process was implemented using data collected from bus management system (BMS) and integrated transit-fare card system for bus route of Seoul's No. 472 line. In order to evaluate the reliability and uncertainty of optimal solution, sensitivity analysis was implemented for the various parameters and assumptions used in the bus scheduling model.

  • AIS(Automatic Identification System) is an vessel traffic management system which exchanges vessel data with other nearby ships, AIS base stations using VHF band. A domestic AIS base station is located along coast lines or island. So it is difficult to collect vessel data from the ocean. To solve this problem, we adopted AIS payload on the low earth orbit satellite. The AIS payload on the satellite is interfaced with OBC(On-Board Computer) via UART and the FSW(Satellite Flight Software) manages it. The FSW have to receive AIS command from ground station and forward to AIS payload. Similarly FSW have to receive response, OBP, OGP data from AIS payload and it is downlink to the ground station. So in this paper we describe the FSW design & implementation for AIS payload.

  • IoT devices that collect information for end users and provide various services like giving traffic or weather information to them that are located everywhere aim to raise quality of life. Currently, the number of devices has dramatically increased so that there are many companies and laboratories for developing various IoT devices in the world. However, research about IoT computing such as connecting IoT devices or management is at an early stage. A server node that manages lots of IoT device in IoT computing environment is certainly needed. But, it is difficult to manage lots of devices efficiently. However, anyone cannot surly know about how many servers are needed or where they are located in the environment. In this paper, we suggest a method that is a way to dynamic clustering IoT computing environment by logical distance among devices. With our proposed method, we can ensure to manage the quality in large-scale IoT environment efficiently.

Design of School Commuting System using Beacon (비콘을 활용한 통학 시스템 설계)

  • The incident during commuting to school happened frequently in these days, such that the government announced the student commuting safety policy for addressing to implement the safety management system of the unsafer school commuting zone. In this paper, a commuting tracking system is proposed that notifies the location of vehicles and the boarding status of student using BLE beacon and smart phone GPS function. The commuting tracking system that gets the data from the system server of driver's smart phone GPS location and UUID of the beacon which had provided students has configured to provide notifications to parents and related administrators. It provides real-time information about whether a student boarding, boarding times and bus locations for parents and administrators. It verifies the disembarking time for each student and also provides to driver to secure if any student tries to board the wrong school bus and if any students is left behind in the bus.

  • Location-based services (LBS) are used in various applications such as emergency support, navigation, location, traffic routes, information gathering, and entertainment due to the rapid growth of information communication technologies and mobile phones. In general, locations are represented by coordinates and are related to terrain. These are of great interest in mobile-based data transmission. This paper proposes a method to exchange the contact of the other party by detecting the movement of the mobile phone of the individual user based on the location-based service. The proposed method extracts motion using the acceleration sensor of the mobile phone and transmits the location and time information to the server when the motion continues for a predetermined time. Attempts to establish a connection between users who are experiencing motion in mobile phones in the short distance have been made from the server. Once the connection between the users is made, the encrypted contact is received from the server. Experimental results show that the proposed method can exchange data by minimizing the processing in the handset compared with the existing method.
