Derivation of Optimum Time and Distance Taxi Fare Structure Based on Social Costs (사회비용을 반영한 최적택시거리.시간 병산요금구조)

  • The objective of this paper is to derive a optimum distance and time taxi fare structure based on social costs. Social costs expressed in terms of congestion and vehicle operating costs were successfully internalized. Speed and volume data for three major arterials in Seoul CBD were used. Optimum congestion charge turned out to be 97.01 Won/Km which can be regarded as congestion tax in the context of Seoul CBD. This congestion tax can possibly be incorporated into time-based taxi fare structure. Congestion is likely to be reduced as a result of imposition of time-based taxi fare which reflects social costs.

  • 부표(등부표)는 항로를 표시하거나 항해상의 위험물을 표시하는 중요한 해상교통안전시설이다. 현재 부표(등부표)의 표체가 철재로 되어 있기 때문에 해중 생물에 의한 표체 오손도가 높고, 무거운 표체 중량으로 인하여 설치 이설 보수 등의 어려움이 있다. 또 철재 표체는 선박과의 충돌에 의한 손상이 발생하며 보수 유지에 따른 많은 비용이 소요된다. 이에 이 연구에서는 선박과의 충돌에도 손상이 거의 없고, 가벼워 취급하기 용이하며 아울러 보수유지가 거의 필요 없는 폴리에텔렌폼과 폴리우레탄 소재의 표체의 개발 내용을 제시한다.

  • LED교통신호등은 기존 전구식 신호등과 달리 필라맨트 발열부가 없고, 전구식에 사용하는 착색렌즈 사용이 없어 이에 따른 빛 손실이 매우 적으며, 전구식 신호등에 비해 90% 정도의 전력이 절약된다. 또 특정 파장대의 단색광을 발광하며, 소자의 특성상 전원 공급과 동시에 빛을 발광한다. 그러면서 긴 수명으로 인하여 유지보수비용의 절감이 이루어지고, 구조적으로 매우 견고한 특성을 가지고 있다. (중략)

  • 우리사회는 교통시설부족으로 인하여 많은 사회적 비용을 지불하고 있다. 이에 따라 꾸준한 지하철, 도로등 교통시설을 확대하고 있으나 지하철과 도로망 확대 모두 재원 문제로 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 따라서 지하철보다는 수송용량은 떨어지나 건설비 및 운영비를 절감 할 수 있고, 도로건설에 따른 도시에서의 용지 확보문제를 동시해결 할 수 있는 경량전철이 계속 심도있게 부각되고 있다. 본 글은 우리 철도학회 회원들에게 경량전철의 개황과 현재 운영 또는 개발되어 있는 각종 시스템을 소개함으로서 경량전철을 이해하는데 도움을 주고자하여 이글을 기고합니다.

A Model of Location Decisions of Natural Gas Filling Station Considering Spatial Coverage and Travel Cost (공간적 접근성 및 통행비용을 고려한 천연가스 충전소 최적 입지선정 모형)

  • This study proposes a facility location model in consideration of spatial coverage and travel cost as an effort to make objective and effective decisions of natural gas filling stations. The proposed model is developed for fixed stations and consists of two stages. The first stage employs a heuristic algorithm to find a set of locations which satisfy the spatial coverage constraints determined by the maximum travel distance between the filling stations and bus depots. In the second stage, the optimal location of filling stations is determined based on the minimum travel cost estimated by using a modified transportation problem as well as the construction and maintenance costs of the filling stations. The applicability of the model is analyzed through finding the optimal location of filling stations for the city of Anyang, a typical medium-sized city in metropolitan Seoul, based on the demand of natural gas buses. This study is expected to help promote the spread of natural gas buses by providing a starting point of a objective and reasonable methodological perspective to address the filling station location problem.

  • The purpose of this research is to optimize the line planning of the intercity passenger railway. In this study, the line planning problem has been formulated into a mixed integer programming by minimizing both user costs (passenger's total travel time) and operator costs (operation, maintenance and vehicle costs) with multiple train types. As a solution algorithm, the branch-and-bound method is used to solve this problem. The change of travel demand, train speed and the number of schedules have been tested through sensitivity analysis. The optimal stop-schedules and frequency as well as system split with respect to each train type have been found in the case study of Kyoung-bu railway line in Korea. The model and results of this research are useful to make a decision for railway operation strategy, to analyze the efficiency of new railway systems and to evaluate the social costs of users and operators.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an effective guideline for reducing communication costs and improving qualities of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) by totally or partially integrating wireless communication networks between equipments of ITS Centers and Roadside in the National ITS Physical Architecture. We analyzed wire and wireless communication networks such as wireless LAN and satellite communications in the National Highway Traffic Management System (NHTMS) for receiving and transmitting transportation data. Also, we analyzed operation and communication costs to find out right communication networks for ITS. The results of this study will be used to build and operate many other ITS systems including Korea Highway Corporation.

A Study on Development of Median Encroachment Accident Model (중앙선침범사고 예측모델의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The median encroachment accident model proposed in this paper is the first step to develop cost-effective criteria about installing facilities preventing traffic accidents by median encroachment. This model consists of expected annual number of median encroachment on roadway and conditional probability to collide with vehicles on opposite lane after encroachment. Expected encroachment number is related to traffic volume and quote from a study of Hutchinson & Kennedy(1966). The probability of vehicle collision is composed of assumed headway distribution of opposite directional vehicles (negative exponential distribution), driving time of encroaching vehicle and Gap & Gap acceptance model. By using expected accident number yielded from the presented model, it will be able to calculate the benefit of reduced accident and to analyze the cost of installing facilities. Therefore this will help develop cost-effective criteria of what, to install in the median.
