Operating Characteristics of D-DOT Probe for Nanosecond High-Voltage Pulse Measurements (고전압 나노초 펄스 측정을 위한 D-DOT 프로브의 동작특성)

  • 고전압 펄스 성형회로의 출력 펄스를 측정하기위한 D-DOT 프로브를 설계 제작하고 그 동작 특성을 조사하였다. 이 프로브는 고전압 펄스 전송선의 외함에 전계방향과 병렬로 설치되었다. 프로브의 중심도체는 지름 4.6 mm의 구리선이고, 바깥도체는 안지름 15 mm의 알루미늄이며, 이들 도체사이에 동축의 테플론 절연체가 삽입되었다. 프로브에서 출력되는 신호는 고전압 펄스신호의 미분된 형태의 신호가 측정되므로 오실로스코프의 적분기능을 사용하였다. 실제 제작한 프로브의 교정비는 $7.7{\times}10^{12}$였으며, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 얻은 교정비는 $7.38{\times}10^{12}$였다.

  • The author has observed the gross reactions of surrounding maxillary sutures to the widening of midpalatal suture in comparison of young dog with adult dog. Experimental animals used was two young dog and two adult dog with normal palate. After midpalatal suture was seperated with rapid palatal expansion device, experimental animals were sacrificed to observe the surrounding maxillary sutures. The following results were obtained. 1. In adult dog, nasoincisive suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded. 2. In adult dog, pterygopalatine suture was hardly expanded, while in young dog it was expanded definitely. 3. In adult dog, frontomaxillary suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilaterally. 4. In adult dog, palatoethmoidal suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilateraily.

A STUDY ON THE CHANCES OF FRICTIONAL FORCE BETWEEN BRACKET AND ORTHODONTIC WIRE WITH TIME IN ARTIFICIAL SALIVA (시간경과에 따른 교정용 bracket과 교정선 사이의 마찰력 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The friction of orthodontic appliances is recogonized to be detrimental to tooth movement. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of frictional force changes between bracket$(018'\times025'\;solt)$ and orthodontic wires(stainless steel, cobalt-chromium, and $\beta-titanium$, $017'\times0.25'$ rectangular) with time. The wire was secured in the bracket slot with a elastomeric ligature. Frictional forces were measured by universal testing machine. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The frictional forces under dry condition were greater than those in saliva. 2. The frictional forces produced by cobalt-chromium wire were less than those generated by stainless steel and $\beta-titanium$ wire. 3. The frictional forces increased progressively with time, and the amount of increase on first two weeks was greater than on last two weeks. 4. The change of frictional force under dry condition was greater than in artificial saliva.

  • Higly pure silicon crystals with an almost perfect lattice structure constityte a powerful metrological tool. The streographic standard prohection for the (111) orientation of diamond structure found by the Laue method shows angles between net planes of 60°. This value is known to be certain to some 10-8 rad. We have made a six-faced silicon polygon, and the (220) lattice planes of the polygon act as a reference angular standard. The information of angles between lattice planes could be taken by the X-ray diffraction. The angle of the rotary encoder have been calibrated using the silicon angle standard. The X-ray optics was double crystal arrangement.

  • We report the rehabilitation of Class II malocclusion with multiple teeth fracture due to trauma. A multidisciplinary team approach was necessary to treat patient's problems such as bone fracture, malocclusion, and multiple teeth fracture. Emergency conservative treatment, orthodontic treatment and prosthetic restoration successfully restored the occlusion. However, special considerations were needed along the orthodontic treatment process due to the unexpected complications such as ankylosis, root resorption and detection of additional teeth fractures.

Establishment of the Monoenergetic Fluorescent X-ray Radiation Fields (교정용 단일에너지 형광 X-선장의 제작)

  • Using a combination of an X-ray generator Installed in radiation calibration laboratory of Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) and a series of 8 radiators and filters described in ISO-4037, monoenergetic fluorescent X-rays from 8.6 keV to 75 keV were produced. This fluorescent X-rays generated by primary X-rays from radiator were discriminated $K_{\beta}$ lines with the aid of filter material and the only $K_{\alpha}$ X-rays were analyzed with the high purity Ge detector and portable MCA. The air kerma rates were measured with the 35 co ionization chamber and compared with the calculational results, and the beam uniformity and the scattered effects of radiation fields were also measured. The beam purities were more than 90 % for the energy range of 8.6 keV to 75 keV and the air kerma rates were from 1.91 mGy/h (radiator : Au, filter : W) to 54.2 mGy (radiator : Mo, filter : Zr) at 43 cm from center of the radiator. The effective area of beam at the measurement point of air kerma rates was 12 cm ${\times}$ 12 cm and the influence of scattered radiation was less than 3 %. The fluorescent X-rays established in this study could be used for the determination of energy response of the radiation measurement devices and the personal dosemeters in low photon energy regions.
