  • Temperature uniformity of a wafer in a semiconductor process is a very important factor that determines the overall yield. Therefore, it is very important to confirm the temperature characteristics of the chuck surface on which the wafer is lifted. The temperature characteristics of the chuck depend on the external heat source, the shape of the cooling channel inside the chuck, the material on the chuck surface, and so on. In this study, CFD confirms the change of temperature characteristics according to the stacking order of ceramic materials on the chuck surface, and suggests the best lamination method.

  • This study aimed to investigate pre-service science teachers' perceptions of significance and usefulness of evolution and genetics. To this end, 82 pre-service biology teachers and 159 non-biology science teachers answered the items to measure the perceptions of significance and usefulness of evolution and genetics. The validity and reliability were examined using Cronbach alpha, two-dimensional rating scale model Rasch analysis, and factor analysis. The finding illustrated that the test items met the benchmark to be valid and reliable test items. Second, pre-service teachers' perception of significance and usefulness of evolution was independent to that of genetics. The level of pre-service teachers' perception of significance and usefulness of evolution was lower than the level of genetics. Lastly, the levels of pre-service teachers' perceptions of significance and usefulness of evolution and genetics were not significantly different across academic years and majors (biology and non-biology). The findings of this study stressed the importance of teaching significance and usefulness of evolution and genetics in pre-service science teacher education program.

  • The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to design a system for constructing Likert attitude scales as supported by the sociopsychological and measurement literature, and (2) (using the design) to develop an affective component of "Attitudes toward Science" scale for high school students. The rationale for developing a new attitude scale is presented in the context of a review of existing attitude scales. As discussed in the literature review, many existing attitude scales are based on ill-defined theoretical constructs, and includes statements that do not appear to be assessing a single construct of attitude toward science. In addition, existing attitude scales do not distinguish between affective and behavioral and cognitive components of attitude toward science. Thus, this study was to carefully define the construct, subcomponents of attitude toward science, and develop an affective component of "Attitude toward Science" scale to reflect the construct and to distinguish between affective and behavioral and cognitive components of attitude toward science. The results of this study: (1) three-mains step for designing reliable and valid attitude scale were developed, and (2) 35 items(16 positive and 19 negative) for an affective component of "Attitudes toward Science" scale with the following characteristics were developed: (a) The internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach's coefficient ${\alpha}$, 0.9727. (b) The range of adjusted item-total correletion(${\gamma}$-value) were 0.58${\sim}$0.83. (c) The correlation coefficient ranged between 0.61 and 0.74 revealing a moderate relatedness between subcomponents. (d) The correlation coefficient for concurrent validity were 0.55 with TOSRA and 0.51 with SAl.

  • Recommender systems through collaborative filtering has been utilized successfully in various areas by providing with convenience in searching information. Measuring similarity is critical in determining performance of these systems, because it is the criteria for the range of recommenders. This study analyzes distributions of similarity from traditional measures and investigates relations between similarities and the number of co-rated items. With this, this study suggests a method for selecting reliable recommenders by restricting similarities, which compensates for the drawbacks of previous measures. Experimental results showed that restricting similarities of neighbors by upper and lower thresholds yield superior performance than previous methods, especially when consulting fewer nearest neighbors. Maximum improvement of 0.047 for cosine similarity and that of 0.03 for Pearson was achieved. This result tells that a collaborative filtering system using Pearson or cosine similarities should not consult neighbors with very high or low similarities.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship beteween the adolescents' perception of marital conflict and the adolescents' offensive character. The subjects of this study were 340 adolescents from 5 middle schools located in Seoul. The Adolescents' perception of marital conflict was assessed by The Adolescents' Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale developed by Grych and his colleagues(1992). The Adolescents' offensive character was assessed by Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory by Buss and Durkee(1957). For data analyses. t-tests. one-way ANOVAS. Scheffe Tests for pairwise comparison. pearson's correlations were used. In testing all hypotheses. .05 was used as a significant level in this study. Results showed that the adolescents' perception of marital conflict was positively associated with the adolescents' offensive character. That is, the way the adolescents saw marital conflict often resulted in the adolescents' offensive character.

  • Collaborative filtering has been most widely used in commercial sites to recommend items based on the history of user preferences for items. The basic idea behind this method is to find similar users whose ratings for items are incorporated to make recommendations for new items. Hence, similarity calculation is most critical in recommendation performance. This paper presents a new similarity measure that takes each rating of a user relatively to his own ratings. Extensive experiments revealed that the proposed measure is more reliable than the classic measures in that it significantly decreases generation of extreme similarity values and its performance improves when consulting neighbors with high similarites only. In particular, the results show that the proposed measure is superior to the classic ones for datasets with large rating scales.

  • This study aims to develop an instrument for measuring high school students' action competence on climate change (ACoCC). The instrument is defined as the construct comprised of seven factors and thirty-five items and takes approximately 15 minutes to fill out. A panel of experts and students' content validation were undertaken to modify the items. Five hundred and twenty-eight first and second graders in Korean high schools participated in the instrument survey. To assess the reliability and validity of ACoCC instrument, item analysis (mean, skewness, kurtosis, item-total correlation), internal consistency estimate, and confirmatory factor analysis were used. It was appropriate to use the 7-dimensional ACoCC instrument (knowledge about climate change, climate change sensibility, reflection, communication, integrated thinking, willingness, decision making), with 35 items for high school students. The following instrument was self-report given in the 5-point Likert scale (1=strongly disagree, 2=disagree, 3=neutral, 4=agree, 5=strongly agree). The internal consistency coefficient was shown as a whole was shown as 0.953, and the subscale's internal consistency coefficient ranged from 0.786 to 0.862.
