  • The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an one-to-one fall prevention education on the falls and fall factors of adults who have had a stroke. 17 adults who have had a stroke were recruited and a total of four sessions of weekly one-to-one fall prevention educational program was developed considering the stroke population's cognitive abilities. Each sessions were composed of different fall-related subjects of introduction of fall, fall prevention exercise, fall prevention assistive device, and fall prevention environment modification. Dependent variables were the number of fall and fall danger in the recent month, balance ability, fear of falls, fall efficacy and depression. After four sessions of one-to-one fall prevention education, participants showed significantly positive changes in all dependent variables except for the balance ability(p<.05). An one-to-one fall prevention education to adults with stroke could decrease the number of fall and fall danger, fear of falls, depressive symptoms and fall efficacy. In order for the stroke adults to remain safely in their community and hospital, an one-to-one fall preventive education considering their cognitive level is needed.

  • This is a longitudinal study which analyzed suppression effects of active/passive coping strategies on academic burnout, using a structural equation modeling. A total of 357 middle school students participated in this study for two waves. In order to measure the levels of students' coping strategies and academic burnout, the Ways of Coping Checklist and the Korean version of Maslach Burnout InventoryStudent Survey(MBI-SS) were used. Latent variables were constructed with standardized residuals computed from a simple linear regression in order to capture the intra-individual changes between two time points. The results of this study are like below. First, the relationship between the change of active coping strategy and the change of passive coping strategy is positively and significantly related with each other. This result indicates that students under stress use various coping strategies simultaneously. Second, significant suppression effects were revealed between the change of active coping strategy and the change of passive coping strategy. That is, when controlling passive coping strategy, the negative relationship between the change of active coping strategy and the change of academic burnout increased. On the other hand, when controlling active coping strategy, the positive relationship between the change of passive coping strategy and the change of academic burnout increased. Based on these results, the value of this study and implications for counseling were discussed.

  • This study analyzed the awareness and actual condition on metaverse utilization in education for design major students. An online survey was conducted for 14 days from May 10 to 23, 2023, targeting 120 students majoring in design at D University. The evaluation method of the questionnaire was a nominal scale and a 5-point scale, and the questionnaire results were analyzed through SPSS 29.0. First, it is necessary to sufficiently share the advantages of metaverse utilization in education with students, and to provide basic literacy programs utilizing the characteristics of metaverse and supporting class activities. Second, students' response will be higher in studio classes where practical training is conducted rather than information delivery or understanding-oriented lectures. Third, in order for the metaverse to become a means of education in the digital transformation era rather than just a temporarily medium in COVID-19 era, specific and systematic design education programs reflecting the characteristics of the metaverse need to be continuously developed. In addition, it is important for instructors to actively review the use of the metaverse and search for various ways to utilize it.

  • In computer education area, abstract thinking has played a positive role in programming ability, and language experience has also affected the ability. However, most of the studies were empirical. The practical research about the relation analysis between abstract thinking and programming ability has rarely been performed. Among various types of programming abilities such as coding, debugging, and reading, this paper focused on program understanding. We analyzed the affection relation on program understanding and the interaction effect between abstract thinking level and language familiarity. We surveyed 376 high school students on their abstract thinking levels, language familiarity, academic achievement, and the program understanding abilities of C and Scratch. From the research, we knew that the abstract thinking level played an important role in understanding the iterative program for the male students. In addition, if the students had the experience on other programming languages before entering high schools, then there was an interaction effect between abstract thinking level and program language familiarity.
