A Study on Science Education Courses for Secondary School Science Teacher Preparation (중등 과학교사 양성을 위한 과학교육과목의 실태 분석과 시험적 모형 연구)

  • 중등 과학교사 양상에 있어서 기초 교양 과목과 교육 일반론 및 과학 과목은 중요한 부분이지만 가장 핵심적이고 특유해야할 과목은 과학교육 관계 과목이다. 많은 경우 $2{\sim}3$학점의 한 과목을 필수로 제시되는 "물리교육", "화학교재", "생물교수법" 등의 분야별 과목이 안이하고 무의미하게 제시되는 것이 아닌가 하는 직관적 판단으로부터 우선 한국의 실태를 조사하고 장기적이고 포괄적인 연구 개발의 기본적 모형을 구안하려는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 연구의 한 단계로 전국 사범대학 과학교육 관계과나 전공을 대상으로 설문지 방법과 면담을 통해 학사 학위 및 중등 과학교사 자격을 위한 취소 이수학점 그리고 일반 및 과학 교육 관계 과목에 대해 조사하였다. 특별히 과학교육관계 과목에 대해서는 상세하게 필수 및 선택 과목 수와 학점, 대상 학생과 교수, 과목의 목표, 내용, 교육 자료와 평가 방법 등을 조사 분석하였다. 또한 설문의 두 번째 범주인 과학교육 과목 담당 교수의 중등 과학 교사 양성 교육과정에 대한 일반적인 의견과 과학 교육 과목에 대한 구체적 의견을 종합 분석하였다. 이러한 실태 조사와 의견 분석을 바탕으로 과학 교육 과목의 총 이수 학점에 대한 비율, 과목수와 명칭 그리고 교육 내용의 기본적 사항을 제시함으로써 자료개발과 실제 지도를 위한 모형적 연구를 수행하였다.

Job Analysis for Curriculum Improvement of Radiologic technologist (교육과정 개선을 위한 방사선사 직무분석)

  • This paper reports a series of job analyses to develop a curriculum for radiologic technologists by using DACUM (Development A Curriculum). With this method, the jobs of radiologic technologist were divided into 8 duties and 59 tasks. The results showed that the most important duty was 'exposure management (M=4.72)', the most difficult duty was 'radiation therapy (M=4.29)', and the most frequently performed duty was 'radiation examination (M=4.19)' respectively. In addition these results were compared with the current curriculum. It turned out that there are quite differences between the school education and actual work. For example, 'patients care' duty was identified as the main job but only 57.1% of the schools offer related courses. The current curriculum focused on the theory for the radiologic technologist is not sufficient to perform the field operation.

Analysis of Educational Issues through Topic Modeling of National Petitions Text (국민청원글의 토픽 모델링을 통한 교육이슈 분석)

  • Education related issues are social problems in which various groups and situations are intricately linked to each other. It is difficult to find issues by analyzing social phenomena related to education. Korean based text analysis can be analyzed in a quantitative. With the development of text analysis techniques, research results have been recently achieved, and it can be fully utilized to derive educational issues from text data in Korean. In this study, petition articles in the field of childcare/education were collected on the online-board of the Blue House National Petition website, and text analysis was used to derive issues in the education world. The analysis derived 6 topics through Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA) among topic modeling techniques. The association rules of major keywords were analyzed and visualized as graphs. In addition to deriving educational issues through the existing questionnaire, it can provide implications for future research directions and policies in that issues can be sufficiently discovered through text-based analysis methods.

Profiling and Co-word Analysis of Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language Domain (프로파일링 분석과 동시출현단어 분석을 이용한 한국어교육학의 정체성 분석)

  • This study aims at establishing the identity of teaching Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) domain by using journal profiling and co-word analysis in comparison with the relevant and adjacent domains. Firstly, by extracting and comparing topic terms, we calculate the similarity of academic journals of the three domains, KFL, teaching Korean as a Native Language (KNL), and Korean Linguistics (KL). The result shows that the journals of KFL form a distinct cluster from the others. The profiling analysis and co-word analysis are then conducted to visualize the relationship among all the three domains in order to uncover the characteristics of KFL. The findings show that KFL is more similar to KNL than to KL. Finally, the comparison of knowledge structures of these three domains based on the co-word analysis demonstrates the uniqueness of KFL as an independent domain in relation with the other relevant domains.

The Analysis on Domestic Research Trends for Convergence and Integrated Science Education (융합 및 통합 과학교육 관련 국내 연구 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate research trends about convergence and integrated science education through the analysis of theses published from January, 2000 to June, 2011 in the scientific journals. For the analysis of the theses, we set standards of analysis including the number of theses, integrated types, research methods, the designs of study and the objects of study. The number of theses used for the analysis were 110 volumes and these were limited to the Journal of KASE (The Korean Association for Science Education) and Journal of KESES (The Korean Society of Elementary Science Education). The results of the study are as follows. First, in the analysis of theses according to the published year, we discovered that the volumes of theses related to convergence and integrated science education were only about 10% of theses published in the journals. Second, the theses about STS education and integration type were the most common type in the integrated types, and the next things were integration type with other scientific fields, and integration type with other subjects. Third, 50% of theses have focused on the 'analysis of effect' as research methods and 45.5% of the theses have used 'quantitative research' as the designs of study. Fourth, the most common study in the theses was to target elementary school students, then it was middle school students, then high school students, literature, teachers, would-be teachers, and the general public. On the basis of the results of this research, we suggest that various studies can develop student's creativity and teacher's recognition through STEAM education and must be presented for the successful STEAM education.

Analysis of Research Trends in Elementary Information Education According to Changes in Curriculum (교육과정 변화에 따른 초등 정보교육 연구 동향 분석)

  • Contents related to computers in the curriculum have been presented from the 5th curriculum released in 1987. The practical education curriculum of the 2015 revised curriculum is composed of software-related content from the existing ICT-related contents. Related research needs to be preceded in order to revise the curriculum according to the times and social needs. Research on elementary school information education is mainly conducted by the Korean Society for Information Education. Therefore, in this study, based on the thesis of the Society for Information Education, the research trends of the society were analyzed by a period of change in the curriculum. Research Results The research of the society shows a change in research trends similar to the change in the curriculum. And it can be seen that the research of society precedes the change in the curriculum.

Analysis of the operation status of the AI convergence education major in the Graduate School of Education (교육대학원 AI융합교육전공 운영 현황 분석)

  • In this study, in order to analyze the AI convergence education courses of 38 graduate schools of education, the analysis frame was constructed in terms of basic subject classification, content field of subject, and detailed subject composition by field. And as a result of analysis through this frame, it was found that the number of subjects currently operated by these graduate schools of education is very different from 14 subjects to 48 subjects. Therefore, it was judged that it was urgent to develop a standard curriculum for the AI convergence education major operated by each graduate school of education for the same purpose. The AI Convergence Education Major, which was established for the same purpose and operated in different forms, will eventually produce teachers with different competencies, so there is a risk of bringing confusion to the direction of AI Convergence Education in the school field.

Effects of SW-STEAM Education for Elementary School: A Meta-Analysis (초등SW융합교육의 효과에 대한 메타분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to synthesize and specifically analyze the effects of elementary SW-STEAM Education on learning outcomes by using meta-analysis. 29 papers are selected and total of 60 effect sizes are deduced. Total effect size is a medium effect of .35, which reveals significant effect on the cognitive and affective domains, and 8 moderator variables explain the difference in total effect sizes as well. The results show that SW-STEAM education is effective for elementary students' learning outcomes. Practical implication for design and implementation are addressed.

Global Citizenship Education in the Primary Geography Curriculum of the Republic of Korea: Content Analysis Focusing on the Semantic Structure of 2009 Revised School Curriculum (초등지리 교육과정에 반영된 세계시민교육 관련 요소의 구조적 특성에 관한 연구: 2009 개정 교육과정 성취기준에 대한 내용분석을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the share of global citizenship education in the 2009 Revised Social Studies (geography area) School Curriculum of the Republic of Korea. I selected the achievement standards of the geography domain in the fifth and sixth grades as the subjects of analysis. The chosen subjects were examined using content analysis: I used KrKwic, a Korean language content analysis tool, to analyze the content and drew a semantic network of the analysis results using UciNet/NetDraw. I found that the geography domain of the 2009 Revised Primary School Curriculum included the concepts of and factors of global citizenship education. However, global citizenship education did not account for a major portion of the curriculum, and the curriculum achievement standards were noticeably nation-state centered. Global citizenship education factors were not closely associated with to other related factors in fact, they even revealed a isolated pattern. These findings suggest that the inclusion of global citizenship education in primary geography education is limited, because the connections between global citizenship education and related contents, such as the environment, sustainable development, conflict, and cooperation, are probably impeded. Globalization accompanies the transformation of territories, identities, and the relations between nation-states and the world, although nation-states continue to play a significant role in the globalized worlds. Therefore global citizenship education, a educational trend focusing on the global community, is particularly important and is required in the geography curriculum of the global era. I expect that the examination undertaken in this study to contribute to future curriculum revisions regarding globalizatin and global citizenship.

A Study on Competencies of Teacher for Organizing and Operating of National Competency Standards Based Vocational Education Curriculum (NCS based curriculum) in Vocational High Schools (직업계고 교원의 NCS 기반 교육과정 편성·운영 역량 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to study out competencies of teacher for organizing and operating of NCS based curriculum in vocational high schools, and to analyze the relative importance of the competencies. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, the competencies of teacher for organizing and operating of NCS based curriculum are composed of the following 4 areas, 11 competencies and 35 sub-competencies. 'Needs and learning environment analysis(area 1)' is composed of 2 competencies of 'analyzing needs', 'analyzing learning environment', and their 7 sub-competencies. 'Curriculum organization(area 2)' is composed of 4 competencies of 'organizing and operating curriculum committee', 'setting educational goals and workforce type', 'analyzing and selecting NCS competency units learning modules', 'developing subjects', and their 10 sub-competencies. 'Curriculum operation(area 3)' is composed of 3 competencies of 'preparing teaching-learning activities', 'implementing teaching-learning activities', 'evaluating teaching-learning activities', and their 15 sub-competencies. 'Curriculum evaluation and feedback(area 4)' is composed of 2 competencies of 'evaluating curriculum', 'giving feedback on the curriculum', and their 3 sub-competencies. Secondly, the relative importance of the competencies is as follows; 'implementing teaching-learning activities' has the highest relative importance of 19.6%, followed by 'evaluating teaching-learning activities'(14.2%), 'evaluating curriculum'(12.5%), 'giving feedback on the curriculum'(11.2%), 'preparing teaching-learning activities'(9.2%), 'developing subjects'(8.6%), 'analyzing and selecting NCS competency units learning modules'(7.5%), 'setting educational goals and workforce type'(6.6%), 'analyzing learning environment'(5.4%), 'analyzing needs'(3.9%), 'organizing and operating curriculum committee'(1.5%).
