  • The ac magnetic susceptibility was measured in iron-oxide nanoparticles with average size of 26 nm, which were uniformly dispersed in organic solvent. The ac magnetic susceptibility measured under zero magnetic fields was well fitted with Debye relaxation model and the relaxation frequency was 370 Hz. The relaxation frequency of the nanoparticles coincided with relaxation time of the Brownian motion, which is due to the viscosity of the liquid medium in which magnetic nanoparticles dwell. The Brown relaxation frequencies were linearly increased with magnetic field.

  • 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe alloy powder was fabricated by water atomization method, and ring-shape specimen of this composition was fabricated by oil press, and then sintered in the vacuum furnace. Powder shape, size distribution, composition (C, N, O, S) analysis and saturation magnetization of as-prepared 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe alloy powder were investigated. Ac permeability and power loss was measured after forming and sintering process. Saturation magnetization and contents of oxygen of the alloy powder is160 emu/g and about 6000 ppm, respectively. 50 % volume fraction indicate particle size of 70$\mu$m. The ac permeability of sintered specimen increases with increasing sintering temperature and forming pressure. The power loss is 107 W/cc at sintering temperature of 1200 $^{\circ}C$, 12 ton/$\textrm{cm}^2$ forming pressure, and 20 KHz. It is the lowest among the prepared specimen.

  • 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe alloy powder prepared by water atomizing method is reduced with flowing hydrogen gas. The characteristics of a reduced alloy powder is investigated and magnetic cores formed by using the reduction power sintered in the vacuum of ∼10$\^$-5/ Torr. In order to study on the magnetic cores permeability and power loss in alternating magnetic field are also measured. The result of particle size distribution shows the paticle size is 70 ㎛ at volume fraction of 50 %. The saturation magnetization of the reduced alloy powder is 160 emu/g. The relative peak permeability (H$\_$a/=5Oe) of a magnetic core is 400 and the power loss (B$\_$m/=80G) 0.12 mW/cc at sintering temperature of 1,200 $\^{C}$, 10 ton/㎠ forming pressure, and 1 kHz.

  • A new two-fold interpenetrating two-dimensional (2D) Tb(III) metal-organic framework (MOF), [Tb(p-XBP4)2.5(H2O)2]·W(CN)8 (1), was prepared using a p-XBP4 (N,N'-p-phenylenedimethylenbis(pyridin-4-one)), Cs3[W(CN)8], and Tb(NO3)3·6H2O. The single crystal X-ray diffraction indicated that Tb-MOF exhibits a unique two-fold interpenetrating 2-D framework. It was also characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and single and powder X-ray diffraction. To probe the molecular magnetic behavior, the magnetic properties of Tb-MOF were investigated by direct-current (DC) and alternating-current (AC) magnetic susceptibilities measurements and discussed.

  • In this study, we have constructed a measuring system to investigate tensile stress of tendons, which is employed in bridges, by means of the magnetic non-destructive testing (NDT) method. For the twisted 7-strands tendon, we have used Wiedemann effect. An ac current was applied to the tendon and voltage induced from Search Coil on Tendon (SCT) under applying tensile stress was measured. The measuring system consists of tensile stress applying apparatus up to 2 GPa, and ac current supply to apply current to the tendon directly to magnetize the tendon. We have invested two kinds of tendon which were produced by different companies for testing with constructed measuring system. Voltage induced from SCT was decreased up to 1.5 GPa linearly and two kinds of tendon which were produced by different companies shows similar trends. Thus, Wiedemann effect was also applicable to measure tensile stress of tendon by means of magnetic NDT.

  • Annealing effects on the permeability aftereffect(disaccommodation) of liquid quenched single strip $Fe_{73.5}Cu_1Nb_3Si_{16}B_{6.5}$ alloys were investigated with pulse method. The initial susceptibility X, $B_{10},$ (the flux density at 10 Oe) and disaccommodation intensity D (D = [X(1 s)-X(64 s)]/X(1 s), where X(1 s) and X(64 s) are the susceptibility of 1 and 64 s of rest time after A. C. demagnetization) were about 800, 0.8 T and 16 %, respectively. The soft magnetic properties were improved with isothermal annealing for 1 hour at $300{\sim}600^{\circ}C.$ X, $B_{10},$ and D at $570^{\circ}C$ of optimum annealing temperature were 15000, 1.2 T and 1.1 %, respectively. The origin of the change of characteristics were examined with fine crystalline structure and magnetostriction.

  • The policrystalline$SmBa_2$$Cu_2$$O_{y}$ was synthesized by the solid state reaction method. The dependence of AC susceptibility on temperature and applied ac field was studied. The critical temperature $T_{c}$ is about 92 K. As the ac field is increased, the slope and the value of real part of susceptibility become smaller and the peak position of imaginary part $T_{P}$ was shifted to a lower temperature with peak broadening. Using Bean's model, we determined intergrain critical current density $J_{c}$ and obtained $44 A/{cm}^2$ at 75 K. From the relation of the $J_{c}$ (T)=($1-T/T_{c}$ )$^{\beta}$ we obtained $\beta$=0.8 and found that the Josephson junction type of the $SmBa_2$$Cu_2$$O_{y}$ is SIS junction. The peak of the imaginary part shifts to higher temperature with increasing frequency, f. from Arrhenius plot, we obtained the activation energy of about 0.96 eV.
