Thoracic Sympathetic Ganglion Block for a Patient with Hyperhidrosis (흉부 교감 신경절 차단에 의한 다한증 치료 경험 -증례보고-)

  • Hyperhidrosis is the state of abnormal sweating on the palm, sole and axillary region. The main treatment of hyperhidrosis are surgical sympathectomy and a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block with neurolytics. Among them, a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block is used in pain clinic for the treatment of hyperhidrosis. I have successfully performed a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block on a 21 year old female patients with pure alcohol. I concluded that the thoracic sympathetic ganglion block was one of the most effective treatment of hyperhidrosis.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of adrenergic receptor blockade. on digitalis intoxication. The effects of adrenergic alpha and beta receptor blockade on the lethal dose of digitonin were evaluated. $LD_{50}$ and dose mortality curve of digitonin in mice pretreated with dibenzylin or propranolol hydrochloride (Inderal) were obtained. All drugs were injected subcutaneously. Digitonin toxicity was significantly decreased in mice pretreated with beta·blockade compare with alpha-blockade and control groups.

  • Sympathetic ganglionic stimulants (DMPP, Wy-615, TMA and McN-A-343) produced pressor response in chickens anesthetized with phenobarbital sodium. In adrenalectomized chickens the pressor activity of DMPP, Wy -615 and TMA was less than in normal chickens but that of McN-A-343 was unchanged. Hexamethonium (20 mg/kg) and chlorisondamine (5 mg/kg), ganglionic blocking agents, reduced the pressor response to DMPP and Wy-615 but did not abolish the response. The pressor effect of McN-A-343 was not potentiated by the ganglionic flocking agents, but abolished by atropine.

  • Action games exhibit all the specific constellation of masochism, such as disavowal, suspense, waiting, fetishism, and fantasy. These characteristics of action games can be analyzed with respect to masochism. This study conducted an analysis excluding sadism as much as possible, as sadism is a result of etiological misconception as opposed to masochism. However, comparative analysis is included in the study so that action games are not seen as demonstrating sadism. Games create a space for virtual interaction for main agents by connecting gamer-existence and game-character in the framework of a contract. The interaction of visual tactility within this space creates a system of difference in pleasure. Masochism enables one to attain pleasure in a world created himself or herself using fetishism in contractual relationships such as the ones exhibited in games. This shows that action games and masochism are mutually related. This paper analyzed the ontology of action games using actual examples of action games. The paper concluded that action games lead to the fulfillment of masochistic pleasure.

Evaluation of a Traffic Light System Focusing on Autonomic Nervous System Activity for Overcoming Yellow Signal Dilemma (황색신호 딜레마 극복을 위한 자율신경계 활성도 중심의 신호체계 평가)

  • This study is aimed at investigating drivers' reactions to yellow signal dilemma situations as a result of the existing signal system, and developing a new signal system. A driver-centered coping model was developed through bio-signal analysis. The driver's physiological response in the existing signal system was observed, and the signal system was developed by applying intersection road driving conditions using a car graphic simulator. Participants were classified into a control group (existing signal system) and an experimental group for a new yellow signal system (new signal system). Based on the results, the emergence of parasympathetic nerves was higher in the experimental group than in the control group, where a statistically significant difference was observed (p < 0.05). The newly developed signal system appeared to cause tension among drivers; however, the sympathetic to parasympathetic nerve ratio was 6: 4, which could be interpreted as an ideal balance. We conclude that drivers can drive more stably if the coping signal system developed in this study is applied to the traffic system.
