A highly sensitive integrated photonic temperature sensor was proposed and developed incorporating a polymeric microring resonator. The change in the ambient temperature was estimated by observing the shift in the resonant wavelength of the resonator induced via the thermooptic effect. For the purpose of enhancing its sensitivity, the sensor was built by implementing a polymeric resonator exhibiting a high thermooptic coefficient on a silicon substrate with a small coefficient of thermal expansion. For the range of from $20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$ near the room temperature, the fabricated sensor yielded a sensitivity of as high as 165 ${\pm}/^{\circ}C$ and a resolution of better than $0.1^{\circ}C$. And its performance was found to be hardly affected by the variation in the refractive index of the target analyte, which was applied to the surface of the sensor. It is hence expected that the sensor could be integrated with other refractormetric optical sensors, thereby compensating for the fatal error caused by the change in the ambient temperature.
A method for measuring the wavefront error and the modulation transfer function(MTF) of large aperture optics using an unequal path interferometer is presented. A bidirectional shearing interferometer is used for collimation testing of the measurement system. A large aperture Fizeau interferometer with long optical path difference measures the wavefront error of the optics under test by using a $\Phi$ 400 mm off-axis parabolic mirror. The MTF is also measured at the wavelength of the interferometer by changing the laser light into partially incoherent light. Test results of a $\Phi$ 300 mm Cassegrain type satellite telescope made in Korea are presented.
The optical properties of monocationic zeolite suspension adsorbed with each of $Na^+$, $NH_4^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Al^{3+}$ were studied in the wavelength range $200{\sim}800nm$. The results were as follows. 1. The optical density of zeolite suspension seemed to be affected by the light absorption of zeolite particles at the wavelength range of $200{\sim}300nm$ and by the light scattering of zeolite particles at wavelength of $300{\sim}800nm$. 2. At the wavelength range of $380{\sim}800nm$, the optical densities of monocationic zeoliteg differed mutually according to adsorbed cations and increased in the order of $Al-\;>\;Ca-\;>\;NH_4->\;Na-zeolite$ suspension. 3. It was convenient that at the wavelength range of $380{\sim}800nm$, the diluted suspension of zeolite was measured in the short wavelength and the concentrated suspension of zeolite was measured in the long wavelength. 4. Zeolite particles in zeolite suspension were aggregated and the size of aggregation size was larger in the order of $Al-\;>\;Ca-\;>\;Na-\;>\;NH_4-zeolite$.
The collimator which makes a collimated beam, is an essential instrument for assembly and evaluation of telescopes. Recently, the Cassegrain type collimator has been widely used for its compact size as the focal length of high resolution cameras becomes longer. However, this kind of collimator has a disadvantage in that the secondary mirror is a heat source which can degrade the evaluation accuracy for an IR camera system. In this paper, we present the fabrication and measurement process for an off-axis parabolic mirror with the physical diameter pf 1 m, effective diameter 930 mm, and the focal length 6 m. After four months of works we obtained the final surface wave-front error of 30.4 nm rms ($\lambda$/138, ${\lambda}=4.2\;{\mu}m$), which is capable of evaluation of an IR camera as well as a visible camera.
The AmonRa instrument, the primary payload of the international EARTHSHINE mission, is designed for measurement of deep space albedo from L1 halo orbit. We report the optical design, tolerance analysis and the optical performance of the breadborad AmonRa imaging channel instrument optimized for the mission science requirements. In particular, an advanced wavefront feedback process control technique was used for the instrumentation process including part fabrication, system alignment and integration. The measured performances for the complete breadboard system are the RMS 0.091 wave(test wavelength: 632.8 nm) in wavefront error, the ensquared energy of 61.7%($in\;14\;{\mu}m$) and the MTF of 35.3%(Nyquist frequency: $35.7\;mm^{-1}$) at the center field. These resulting optical system performances prove that the breadboard AmonRa instrument, as built, satisfies the science requirements of the EARTHSHINE mission.
Characteristics of 0.98 $\mu$m-pumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF) sources with double-pass forward (DPF) configuration are analyzed by numerical calculation. Various source characteristics such as output power, spectral width and mean-wavelength stability are investigated with the variation of EDF length, pump power and pump wavelength. Some of the numerical results are compared with experimental ones for verification. The results show that the characteristics of sources with DPF configuration can change considerably with the EDF length. It is also found that an optimum design can exist for stable mean-wavelength against fluctuations of pump power and pump wavelength.
One step thermal potassium ion exchange process was carried out to form optical channel waveguides in an ErNb co-doped phosphate glass. Flowing oxygen gas into KN03 melt during ion exchange was effective to prevent glass surface damage that causes an increase of waveguide propagation loss. Amplification characteristics of the waveguides were evaluated at $1.5{\mu}m$ signal wavelength with 980 om laser diode pump. A 45 mm long waveguide whose processing parameters had been optimized exhibited a small signal net gain of 7.5 dB at the launched pump power of 160 mW.160 mW.
In order to evaluate the performance of phone camera lenses, we have developed equipment for measuring the modulation transfer function(MTF) for small size lenses. The equipment is composed of an an image analyzer, object generator, and a lens mount. The object generator is rotated for on and off-axis measurement. The lens mount is of horizontal type and tiltable for precise alignment to the optical axis. After the initial alignment process, the measurement is done within 10 seconds automatically

Body fat correlation formula induced by using optical method was used white light LED source and electrical method used BIA(Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis) method measured at same time. In the case of BIA method confirmed phase difference of 6 degree and voltage drop of 2.7V at 5V and 50kHz's input signal. In the case of optical method confirmed that optical intensity increased by order of the biceps, the fleshy inside of the thigh and the triceps. We obtained percent body fat of 20% with the body fat correlation formula induced by photo-electricity method.
