A Ranking Cleaning Policy for Embedded Flash File Systems (임베디드 플래시 파일시스템을 위한 순위별 지움 정책)

  • Along the evolution of information and communication technologies, manufacturing embedded systems such as PDA (personal digital assistant), HPC (hand -held PC), settop box. and information appliance became realistic. And RTOS (real-time operating system) and filesystem have been played essential re]os within the embedded systems as well. For the filesystem of embedded systems, flash memory has been used extensively instead of traditional hard disk drives because of embedded system's requirements like portability, fast access time, and low power consumption. Other than these requirements, nonvolatile storage characteristic of flash memory is another reason for wide adoption in industry. However, there are some technical challenges to cope with to use the flash memory as an indispensable component of the embedded systems. These would be relatively slow cleaning time and the limited number of times to write-and-clean. In this paper, a new cleaning policy is proposed to overcome the problems mentioned above and relevant performance comparison results will be provided. Ranking cleaning policy(RCP) decides when and where to clean within the flash memory considering the cost of cleaning and the number of times of cleaning. This method will maximize not only the lifetime of flash memory but also the performance of access time and manageability. As a result of performance comparison, RCP has showed about 10 ~ 50% of performance evolution compared to traditional policies, Greedy and Cost-benefit methods, by write throughputs.

  • 최근 단파장 광전 소자와 고출력 고주파 전자 소자에 대한 수요 때문에 넓은 밴드갭 에너지를 갖는 반도체에 관심이 많다. 이중에서, ZnO는 우수한 화학 및 역학적 안정성, 수소 플라즈마 내구성과 저가 제조의 장점 때문에 광전자 소자 개발 분야에 적합한 산화물 투명 전극으로 관심을 끌고 있다. 불순물이 도핑되지 않은 ZnO는 본질적으로 산소 빈자리 (vacancy)와 아연 격자틈새 (interstitial)와 같은 자체의 결함으로 말미암아 n형의 극성을 갖기 때문에, 반도체 소자로 응용하기 위해서는 도핑 운반자의 농도와 전도성을 제어하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 박막 제조시 제어성, 안정성과 용이하게 성장이 가능한 졸겔 (sol-gel) 방법을 사용하여 사파이어와 석영 기판 위에 Cu가 도핑된 ZnO 박막을 성장시켰으며, 그것의 구조, 표면 형상, 평균 투과율, 광학 밴드갭 에너지를 계산하였다. 특히, Cu의 몰 비를 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.1 mol로 변화시키면서 ZnO:Cu 박막을 성장시켰다. ZnO:Cu 졸은 zinc acetate dihydrate, 2-methoxyethanol (용매), momoethanolamine (MEA, 안정제)을 사용하여 제조하였다. 상온에서 2-methoxyethanol과 MEA가 혼합된 용액에 zinc acetate dihydrate (Zn)을 용해시켰다. 이때 MEA와 Zn의 몰 비는 1로 유지하였다. 이 용액을 $60^{\circ}C$ 가열판 (hot plate)에서 24 h 동안 자석으로 휘젓으며 혼합하여 맑고 균일한 용액을 얻었다. 이 용액을 3000 rpm 속도로 회전하는 스핀 코터기의 상부에 장착된 사파이어와 석영 기판 위에 주사기 (syringe)를 사용하여 한 방울 떨어뜨려 30 s 동안 스핀한 다음에, 용매를 증발시키고 유기물 찌꺼기를 제거하기 위하여 $300^{\circ}C$에서 10분 동안 건조시킨다. 기판 위에 코팅하는 작업에서 부터 건조 작업까지를 10회 반복한 다음에, 1 h 동안 전기로에 장입하여 석영 기판 위에 증착된 시료는 $550^{\circ}C$에서, 사파이어 기판은 $700^{\circ}C$에서 열처리를 수행하였다. Cu의 몰 비 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 1로 성장된 ZnO:Cu 박막에 대한 x선 회절 분석의 결과에 의하면, 모든 ZnO:Cu 박막의 경우에 관측된 34.3o의 피크는 ZnO (002) 면에서 발생된 회절 패턴을 나타낸다. 이것은 JCPDS #80-0075에 제시된 회절상과 일치하였으며, ZnO:Cu 박막이 기판에 수직인 c-축을 따라 우선 배향됨을 나타낸다. 사파이어 기판 위에 증착된 박막의 경우에, Cu의 몰 비가 점점 증가함에 따라(002)면 회절 피크의 세기는 전반적으로 증가하여 0.07 mol에서 최대를 나타내었으나, 석영 기판 위에 증착된 박막의 경우에는 0.05 mol에서 최대를 보였다. 외선-가시광 분광계를 사용하여 서로 다른 Cu의 몰 비로 성장된 ZnO:Cu 박막에서 광학 흡수율 (absorbance) 스펙트럼을 측정하였으며, 이 데이터를 사용하여 평균 투과율을 계산한 결과, 투과율은 Cu의 몰 비에 따라 현저한 차이를 나타내었다. Cu의 몰 비가 0.07 mol일 때 평균 투과율은 80%로 가장 높았으며, 0.03 mol에서는 30%로 최소이었다. 광학밴드갭 에너지는 Tauc 모델을 사용하여 계산하였고, 결정 입자의 형상과 크기와의 상관 관계를 조사하였다.

The fabrication and evaluation of CdS sensor for diagnostic x-ray detector application (진단 X선 검출기 적용을 위한 CdS 센서 제작 및 성능 평가)

  • Recently, various semiconductor compounds as radiation detection material have been researched for a diagnostic x-ray detector application. In this paper, we have fabricated the CdS detecton sensor that has good photosensitivity and high x-ray absorption efficiency among other semiconductor compounds, and evaluated the application feasibility by investigating the detection properties about energy range of diagnostic x-ray generator. We have fabricated the line voltage selector(LCV) for a signal acquisition and quantities of CdS sensor, and designed the voltage detection circuit and rectifying circuit. Also, we have used a relative relation algorithm according to x-ray exposure condition, and fabricated the interface board with DAC controller. Performance evaluation was investigated by data processing using ANOVA program from voltage profile characteristics according to resistive change obtained by a tube voltage, tube current, and exposure time that is a exposure condition of x-ray generator. From experimental results, an error rates were reduced according to increasing of a tube voltage and tube current, and a good properties of 6%(at 90 kVp) and 0.4%(at 320 mA) ere showed. and coefficient of determination was 0.98 with relative relation of 1:1. The error rate according to x-ray exposure time showed exponential reduction because of delayed response velocity of CdS material, and the error rate has 2.3% at 320 msec. Finally, the error rate according to x-ray dose is below 10%, and a high relative relation was showed with coefficient of determination of 0.9898.

Computer-guided implant surgery and immediate provisionalization by chair-side CAD-CAM: A case report (진료실 CAD-CAM에 의한 컴퓨터 가이드 임플란트 수술과 즉시 임시보철치료: 증례보고)

  • This report demonstrates a method of generating a chair-side and computer-aided template for implant surgery based on the Top-Down and restoration-driven concept. Compared to the traditional CAD-CAM process which requires multiple steps to be taken between dental clinic and laboratory, this alternative procedure, VARO guide system (VARO Guide, CAD, Pre-Guide, VARO-mill, NeoBiotech, Seoul, South Korea) enables accurate and patient-friendly implant surgery as well as immediate provisional restoration in a single visit. First, bite-registration at centric jaw relation and CBCT were taken using the Pre-Guide. The CBCT data was then reorganized directly through the chair-side CAD, and we could determine the most appropriate 3-dimensional position of implant. The STL file was extracted and put into the chair-side CAM (VARO-mill) to fabricate a VARO. This surgical guide allowed the implants to be accurately positioned into the planned sites within an hour.

HyperSAS Data for Polar Ocean Environments Observation and Ocean Color Validation (극지 해양환경 관측 및 고위도 해색 검보정을 위한 초분광 HyperSAS 자료구축)

  • In Arctic and Antarctic ocean, remote sensing is the most effective observation for environmental changes due to the inaccessibility of the regions. Even though satellite, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehical) are well known remote sensing platforms, and research vessel also used for automatic measurement on the regions, varied environment of Polar regions require time series and wide coverage of data. Especially, in high latitude, apply an optical satellite remote sensing is not easy due to low sun altitude. In this paper, we introduce an operation of hyper-spectrometer (HyperSAS/Satlantic inc.) which is mounted on Ice Breaker Research Vessel ARAON of Korea Polar Research Institute since 2010, to acquire an above water reflectance atomatically through every research cruise on Arctic and Antarctic ocean and transit both regions. In addition to, auxiliary data for the remotely acquired data, in situ water sampling were also obtained. The above water reflectance and in situ water sampling data are continuously acquired since 2010 will contribute to improve an Ocean Color algorithm in the high latitude and help to understand ocean reflectances over from high latitude through low latitude. Preliminary result from above water reflectance showed characteristics of Arctic ocean and Antarctic Ocean and used to develop algorithms for estimating various ocean factors such as chlorophyll and suspended sediment.

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of intelligent buildings related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The gateway based RESTful technology responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency in case a large number of clients' requests submit toward the gateway increases. In this paper, we propose the design tasks of the IoT gateway for handling concurrency events. In the procedure of designing tasks, concurrency is best understood by employing multiple levels of abstraction. The way that is eminently to accomplish concurrency is to build an object-oriented environment with support for messages passing between concurrent objects. We also investigate the performance of event-driven architecture for building IoT gateway using node.js on one side and communication protocol based message-oriented middleware known as XMPP to handle communications of intelligent building control devices connected to the gateway through a centralized hub. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in intelligent building IoT environment.

  • Systematic management during the whole life cycle from construction to operation and maintenance is very important for the seven underground pipelines (waterworks, sewerage, electricity, telecommunications, gas, heating, oil including waterworks and sewerage). Especially, it is the construction process that affects the whole life cycle of underground buried pipeline. In order to construct a new city or to maintain different underground pipes, it is always necessary to dig the ground and carry out construction and related work. There is a possibility that secondary and tertiary breaks frequently occur in the pipeline construction process after the piping constructed first in this process. To solve this problem, a system is needed which can monitor damage in real time. However, the supply of electric power for continuous operation of the system is limited according to the environment of underground buried pipelines, so it is necessary to develop a stable electric power supply system using natural energy rather than existing electric power. In this study, we developed a system that can operate the pipeline monitoring system for long time (24 hours and 15 days) using natural energy using wind and solar light.

Deep Learning-Based Lighting Estimation for Indoor and Outdoor (딥러닝기반 실내와 실외 환경에서의 광원 추출)

  • We propose a deep learning-based method that can estimate an appropriate lighting of both indoor and outdoor images. The method consists of two networks: Crop-to-PanoLDR network and LDR-to-HDR network. The Crop-to-PanoLDR network predicts a low dynamic range (LDR) environment map from a single partially observed normal field of view image, and the LDR-to-HDR network transforms the predicted LDR image into a high dynamic range (HDR) environment map which includes the high intensity light information. The HDR environment map generated through this process is applied when rendering virtual objects in the given image. The direction of the estimated light along with ambient light illuminating the virtual object is examined to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. For this, the results from our method are compared with those from the methods that consider either indoor images or outdoor images only. In addition, the effect of the loss function, which plays the role of classifying images into indoor or outdoor was tested and verified. Finally, a user test was conducted to compare the quality of the environment map created in this study with those created by existing research.

  • As regulations of emissions from ships become more stringent, electric propulsion systems have been increasingly used to solve this problem in vessels ranging from large merchant ships to small and medium-sized ships. Methods for improving the efficiency of the electric propulsion system include the improvement of power sources; the use of a system linked to environmentally friendly power sources, such as batteries, fuel cells, and solar power; and the development of hardware and control methodology for rectifiers, power conversion devices, and propulsion motors. The method using a phase-shifting transformer with diodes has been widely used for rectification. Power semiconductor devices with grid connection to an environmentally friendly power source using DC distribution, a variable speed power source, and the application of small and medium-sized electric propulsion systems have been developed. Accordingly, the demand for active front-end (AFE) rectifiers is increasing. In this study, a method using a neural network rather than a conventional proportional-integral controller was proposed to control the AFE rectifier. Tested controller data were used to design a neural network controller trained through MATLAB/Simulink. The neural network controller was applied to a rectification system designed using PSIM software. The results indicated the effectiveness of improving the waveform and power factor DC output stage according to the load variation. The proposed system can be applied as a rectification system for small and medium-sized environmentally friendly ships.

A Study on the Design and Implementation of a Thermal Imaging Temperature Screening System for Monitoring the Risk of Infectious Diseases in Enclosed Indoor Spaces (밀폐공간 내 감염병 위험도 모니터링을 위한 열화상 온도 스크리닝 시스템 설계 및 구현에 대한 연구)

  • Respiratory infections such as COVID-19 mainly occur within enclosed spaces. The presence or absence of abnormal symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases is judged through initial symptoms such as fever, cough, sneezing and difficulty breathing, and constant monitoring of these early symptoms is required. In this paper, image matching correction was performed for the RGB camera module and the thermal imaging camera module, and the temperature of the thermal imaging camera module for the measurement environment was calibrated using a blackbody. To detection the target recommended by the standard, a deep learning-based object recognition algorithm and the inner canthus recognition model were developed, and the model accuracy was derived by applying a dataset of 100 experimenters. Also, the error according to the measured distance was corrected through the object distance measurement using the Lidar module and the linear regression correction module. To measure the performance of the proposed model, an experimental environment consisting of a motor stage, an infrared thermography temperature screening system and a blackbody was established, and the error accuracy within 0.28℃ was shown as a result of temperature measurement according to a variable distance between 1m and 3.5 m.
