A Study on the Implementation of Wideband Hybrid Quadrature Polar Transmitter Platform (광대역 하이브리드 직교 폴라 송신 플랫폼 구현에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed the architecture of the Hybrid Quadrature Polar transmitter which has the wideband characteristics available for the SRD(Short Range Device). First, we developed the simulation environment and carried out performance degradation analysis. Second, we considered the slewrate of the VVA(Voltage Variable Attenuator), time delay between magnitude signal and phase signal and the number of bits for DAC(Digital-to-Analog Converter) as the main performance factors. Then we obtained the minimum required values to meet the transmitting performance requirements of 3GPP standards through simulation results. Based on these results, we implemented the Wideband Hybrid Quadrature Polar transmitter platform and varified the performance requirements through practical measurement.

  • In this dissertation, the characteristics of W-CDMA(Wideband CDMA) are studied and required specifications of IMT-2000 transceiver using W-CDMA method are proposed. Also, in order to design the RF circuits satisfied the proposed specifications, theoretical models are expanded and real circuits are made. Then the RF circuits of the mobile stations are implemented in the three parts, transmitter, receiver and frequency synthesizer and are evaluated. The frequency synthesizer is designed using techniques of swallow counter and passive 3rd loop filter. For improving characteristics of the loop, a LPF was added to the 2nd loop filter. So although the locking times are loosed, the spurious are reduced. The output power of transmitter is over 50mW, the spurious output is -40dB/30kHz at 5MHz offset and power control range is -20dB at 2.5V. The proposed specifications are considered in highly practical environment and the theoretical designs and the experiments are expressed as simply as possible in order to facilitate understanding. It stands to reason that the results of this study can be used to design the wider CDMA(25MHz Bandwidth) mobile communication systems.

Broadband Patch Antenna for Wireless LAN Communication of 5GHz Band (5GHz 대역의 무선랜 통신을 위한 광대역 패치 안테나)

  • In this paper, the wideband patch antenna is simulated and manufactured for the wireless LAN of 5GHz band that is defined in IEEE 802.11a. In the 802.11a, 200 channels of 675MHz are defined. Therefore, the bandwidth is needed more than 12.3%. For the wideband characteristics, low dielectric constant is realized with the multi-layer of 2 teflon substrates and the air dielectric layer and the feeding method of the coupled-line is used. Optimized wideband patch antenna is simulated with the return loss of 38.99dB at the center frequency of 5.43GHz and the bandwidth of 12.9%. The gain of manufactured patch antenna is 4.38, 4.52, and 5.12dBi at the channel number of 46, 56, and 153, respectively.

  • This paper is studied for the design and experiment of a wideband printed 1x2 dipole array antenna for 3.5GHz band application. The printed dipole antenna used in the array antenna was implemented in the form of a rectangular strip, and was consisted with a broadside coupled stripline (BCS). The feed line was designed to be tapered for broadband impedance matching. As a result of comparing the simulation results and measurement results, it was found that the two results were in good agreement with 2.8% error(100MHz shift @3.5GHz). As a result of the experiment, based on VSWR=2, a bandwidth of about 16% was obtained from the center frequency of 3.5 GHz to 3.15~3.70 GHz.

  • 1998년 시작된 초고속 인터넷 서비스는 약 4년 만에 세계 1위의 보급률을 보이고 있을 정도로 우리 나라의 정보통신 인프라는 급속도로 성장하여 왔다. 최근 유무선 통합 및 통신과 방송이 융합되는 광대역 통합망(BcN) 환경에서 초고속 인터넷 서비스와 디지털방송 서비스를 제공하기 위한 초고속 인프라의 가입자망 형태는 동선 기반의 ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)/VDSL(Very high-data rate Digital Subscriber Line) 및 광/동축 혼합망인 HFC, 광섬유 기반의 FTTH(Fiber To The Home) 등이 있다. 그 중에서 HFC는 그 동안 주로 케이블 TV 프로그램의 전송망으로 활용되어 오다가 최근 통신. 방송 융합 환경에서 초고속 인터넷 가입자망으로 부각되고 있다. 본 고에서는 HFC 망의 특성과 HFC 망의 핵심장비인 CMTS와 케이블모뎀의 시장 현황 및 전망에 대해서 알아보고, 광대역 통합망의 가입자망으로서의 HFC의 역할에 대해 논의하고자 한다.

The Analysis of Underground Power Line Communication Channel Characteristics by Measurements (지중전력선 통신채널 측정에 의한 특성해석)

  • In this paper, a broadband power line communication modem and network technology to develop tests with actual characteristics of the underground power line communication channel to be interpreted. Length and structure of the underground distribution line due to underground distribution line to the broadband powerline communication channels to measure the amount of attenuation on the signal generator, spectrum analyzer, such as contactless coupler was used to configure the channel measurement system. Demonstration tests in the test line as a single line by selecting the longest high-voltage lines where the two-channel measurement and signal attenuation on the noise level was measured. Measuring results degrade communication performance can be quite sure that was the presence of impulse noise, long lines, the line length was confirmed by the high-frequency attenuation appears.

  • In this paper, inductive couplers realizing broadband powerline communication (PLC) are fabricated using Fe-based nanocrystalline alloy and their performance is analyzed. As a result of the field tests using the distribution automation system (DAS), the couplers achieve comparatively excellent data communication in the principal frequency band of broadband PLC although there is a difference in communication rate depending on the presence or absence of a branch. In addition, it has been confirmed that the communication speed is maintained for a real-time transmission even in a high current environment although there is a difference in the transmission rate depending on the distance. Hence, it is considered that the inductive couplers can be used as a core device to realize the intelligent power network by exploiting them for the monitoring and remote controlling of the power plant equipments for the DAS located in the inaccessible areas.

  • This paper presents the development of InGaAsP multiple quantum well asymmetric Fabry-Perot modulators(AFPM), which have a vertical structure and high performance and describes measurements of devices operating at 10GHz for next generation broadband wireless communication applications such as picocell systems. Advantages of the AFPM include low drive voltage, which is less than -2V, and -3dB coupling loss, good flatness of the frequency response and simple fiber alignment. A simple link demonstration has been introduced, resulting in 92dB/Hz spurious free dynamic range and 40dB inter-modulation distortion. This modulator could be use for broadband radio over fiber systems such as picocell and multiple RF links.

Design Technology of the Wideband Power Amplifier for Electromagnetic Susceptibility Measurement (EMS 측정용 광대역 전력 증폭기 설계기술에 관한 연구)

  • A wide-band high power amplifier to use for radiated electromagnetic field immunity testing of EMS(Electromagnetic Susceptibility) standards has to meet IEC1000-4-3 specification in the frequency bandwidth of 80MHz to 1000MHz. The power amplifier to be described in this paper consists of driving and power stages with wide-band matched circuits by estimated impedances. The mismatching protection circuit is inserted in it to prevent from damage of power device when the output port of power amplifier is opened or shorted by user's mistake. The characteristics of the power amplifier are obtained output power over 100watts, gain over 40dB and flatness of $\pm$0.3dB in the frequency range of 80 ~300MHz. The harmonics suppression characteristics is measured over 20dBc. This wide-band high power amplifier can be useful fur radiated electromagnetic field immunity testing of IEC 1000-4-3 standard.
