An information system for defense technology information management should assist the user's work and manager's decision-making by managing and timely providing data held by defense-related organizations. This paper proposes a plan for constructing an advance defense technology information service. DTiMS concentrates on the collection and management of defense science technology information but not its distribution. Therefore, it is important that the advanced distribution service model be established on the concept of total life cycle management that utilizes user information, so that it can provide proper information to each user in the defense field who require the information processed by their roles. This study examined the management of information and operation method through advanced case analysis. In addition, the analysis of existing services revealed improvements in the management of an information standard, the trace ability of information and usability, and improved user-interface. The proposed development direction was implemented by deploying the advanced DTiMS. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed methodology will contribute to the weapon system total life cycle, and will support defense technology planning, and R&D decisions.

(주)유양정보통신은 지난 1년9개월동안 총 25억의 연구개발비와 27명의 개발인력을 투입하여 광역삐삐 내장형 시티폰(CT-2플러스)을 개발해 유망한 정보통신업체로 각광을 받고 있다. 작년 9월 시험통화를 거쳐 12월부터 시판된 CT-2 플러스는 현재 1만대 정도 보급되어 있으며 호출기 기능이 내장되지 않더라도 서비스가 가능한 새제품 CT-3 개발에도 박차를 가하고 있다.

NTIS(National Science & Technology Information Service) is the first national R&D information knowledge portal service in the world to provide information of government-funded R&D projects and it has been developed by KISTI. This study investigated several limitations of current NTIS information service, analyzed information needs for end users, and then proposed information recomposition and visualization method to satisfy their information needs. For doing this, we firstly clarified the definition of 'end-users' and classified three different groups of general users. We also discriminated various information needs according to three groups and illustrated some examples of visualization results to meet the requirements - 'retrieval simplification' and 'information visualization'. To consider practicality of our proposed method, we suggested implementation plans to utilize existed NTIS services.

As the Internet use increases explosively, and the information provision and services via the Internet is getting active, understanding the status of the Internet use and the Internet users' characteristics becomes necessity for organizations, corporations, and in-formation providers. This paper reviews various surveys on the Internal users and the Internal one con-ducted in Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom. By the comparisons and analyses of these survey results, this paper intended to provide visions on the future direction In the Internet service provision and the Internet uses in general.

The purpose of this study is to suggest some improvements of information service on the Internet through a comparative analysis of information use patterns of science and technology researchers in universities, research institutes and business enterprises. We classify information use patterns into information use purpose, information use types, a frequently used/referenced portal site, the initial method of internet search, information service selection factors and the channels of off-line information acquisition. The results of this study are as follows: First, according to frequency analysis, there are some information use patterns among S & T research groups. Second, according to ${\chi}^2$ analysis, there are some significant differences in ratio of information use patterns among them.

To make Web Services the real applications, the efficient mechanisms for Web Services discovery, Web Services composition and Web Services execution must be provided. Among these issues, especially, Web Services composition plays the key roles in Web Services applications that are loosely coupled and composed applications consisted of primitive Web Service components. In this paper we demonstrate a new Web Service composition approach using ontologies. We apply ontologies to describe Web Services information such as Web Services input/output parameters, pre conditions, post conditions and other necessary management information. In this paper, we also introduce Action ontology and Object ontology to describe the functional properties of Web Services These ontologies offer semantic description of Web Services functionalities beyond the limitation of the current WSDL. We can achieve semantic interoperabilities between heterogeneous Web Services in terms of conceptual processing and realize semantic services composition. We implement semantic Web Services composition system called Genie based on service description ontologies.

학술정보 이용자는 연구에 필요한 자료를 획득하기 위해 검색서비스를 이용한다. 대부분의 웹 이용자는 원하는 정보를 얻기 위해 수많은 검색 질의어를 생성하여 시스템에 요청하고 선별된 정보 리스트들을 탐색하고 정보획득의 최종 목적지로써 해당 정보의 상세화면으로 이동하게 된다. 마찬가지로 논문 및 특허 정보를 제공하는 학술정보서비스의 경우 이용자의 최종 목적지는 한 건의 상세 메타정보 혹은 원문이 되는데, 이 때 이용중인 정보와 유사한 다른 유형의 학술정보 및 관련 연구 분야의 연구자 제공 서비스는 이용자의 정보획득 요구를 쉽게 충족시키기 위한 필수요소이다. NDSL(국가과학기술종합정보서비스) 의 경우 동일 DB내에서의 유사문서 검색기능(논문검색에서는 유사논문 제공, 특허검색에서는 유사특허 제공)을 제공하지만 이는 이종 DB간 유사문서를 이용하고자 하는 사용자 요구사항을 만족시키지 못하는 수준이다. 본 논문에서는 논문, 특허, 연구보고서, 동향분석 자료를 포함한 학술정보 검색서비스에서 사용자 질의어와 검색엔진이 제공하는 검색 요소 및 부스팅(boosting) 기법을 이용한 이종 컨텐츠간 유사문서 리스트 및 관련 연구 분야의 연구자명 검색 서비스 기법에 대해 논한다. 이는 사용자가 원하는 학술정보를 서비스 최종 화면에서 효과적으로 제공함으로써 반복되는 검색 및 탐색의 노력을 줄일 수 있다.
