He-Ne Laser을 이용한 혼합용액의 Cloud-point curves 측정

  • 국내 및 해외에서 생산 되는 윤활유에 Cloud-point curves 및 상용성 개념을 도입하여 이러한 데이터를 측정할수 있는 장치를 기존의 Light scatering, Neutron scatering, Visible Method등이 아닌 He-Ne Laser를 이용하여 측정하는 장치이다. He-Ne Laser을 이용하여 공중합체 용액의 Cloud-point curves를 측정하였고, 측정 Cloud-point curves 데\ulcorner를 연속열역학적 상평형관계식에 적용 coex istence curves를 추산하였으며 추산치와 측정치를 비교 검토하였다. 멀지 않은 해에는 이러한 분석장치가 상용화되어 윤활유 제품의 상용성을 평가하는 장치가 될 것으로 사료된다. 따라서, 기존 윤활유 제품 및 신제품의 상용성(compatibility)을 He-Ne Laser을 이용하여 측정하고 다른 일면으로는 윤활유 제품의 고품질화 및 제품의 경쟁력을 강화하는데 커다란 영향을 미치리라 사료된다.

Preparation of Poly(Dt-lactide-co-glycolide) Nanoparticles by PEG-PPG Diblock Copolymer (PEG-PPG 블록 공중합체를 이용한 폴리(DL-락타이드-co-글리콜라이드) 나노입자의 제조)

  • Poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles were prepared by the modified spontaneous emulsification solvent diffusion method. Polymer solution was prepared by two water-soluble organic solvents, such as ethanol and acetone. Because of its biocompatible nature, PEG-PPG diblock copolymer was used as surfactant and stabilizer. The influence of several preparative variables on the nanoparticle formation, such as type and concentration of stabilizing agent, stirring methods, water/oil phase ratio and polymer concentration were investigated in order to control and optimize the process. After preparation of nanoparticles, particle size and distribution were evaluated by the light scattering particle analyzer. As results, the particle size was 50-200 nm and dispersibility was monodisperse. It was found that the appropriate selections of binary solvent mixtures and polymeric concentrations in both organic and aqueous phases could provide a good yield and favorable physical properties of PLGA nanoparticles.

  • Chlorine-resistant sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) random copolymer (SPAES)-thin film composite (TFC) membranes for desalination are prepared using monoglyme as a selective solvent, which dissolves SPAES, but should be inert to porous polysulfone layer (e.g., Udel$^{(R)}$). Different from formic acid and diethylene glycol used as other selective solvents, monoglyme is environmentally friendly and has much lower boiling temperature. After a pretreatment of Udel$^{(R)}$ support film in isopropyl alcohol-glycerine mixture to minimize pore penetration leading to fairly reduced water flux, coating of SPAES solution in monoglyme onto the support and stepwise drying processes are conducted for defect-free TFC formation. The transport behavior through SPAES-TFC membranes is observed, correlating with the effects of sulfonation level, protonation, and physical and chemical crosslinking of SPAES selective layers.

  • 2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene bis(trimellitate anhydride) (2,7-TA) was synthesized from trimellitic anhydride chloride and 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene. Copolyimides (Co-PI) containing ester group were synthesized from 2,7-TA, pxylylenediamine, and 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine (TFB). The Co-PI films were obtained from poly(amic acid) by solution casting through thermal imidization on a glass plate. The thermal property, gas permeation, and optical transparency of the Co-PI films with various TFB monomer contents were investigated. These Co-PIs could be solution-cast into a flexible and tough film. The cast Co-PI films exhibited high optical transparency with a cut-off wavelength of 370~395 nm in UV-vis. absorption and a low yellow index value of 3.55~7.63. The thermal property of Co-PI films increased linearly with increasing TFB content. However, the oxygen permeation and optical transparency of the Co-PI films was found to worsen with increasing TFB content.

  • Amino group-terminated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm-$NH_2$) was synthesized via a radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) using 2-aminoethanethiol hydrochloride (AESH) as a chain transfer agent. The molecular weight of the PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ was controlled by changing the concentration of AESH. The LCST of the aqueous solution of PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ increased slightly with increasing the AESH concentration. Alginate-g-PNIPAAm copolymer was synthesized by grafting PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ onto sodium alginate using N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N'-ethylcarbodiimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide. The formation of the grafted copolymers was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy, solubility in water, and SEM-EDS. Alginate-g-PNIPAAm also exhibited swelling-deswelling behavior. However, it showed a LCST at a slightly increased temperature compared to PNIPAAm. The swelling ratio of the alginate-g-PNIPAAm hydrogel increased with the increase of the grafted PNIPAAm content.

Preparation of Spherical TiO2 Nanoparticles Using Amphiphilic PCZ-r-PEG Random Copolymer Template Membrane (양친성 PCZ-r-PEG 랜덤 공중합체 분리막을 이용한 구형 이산화티타늄 나노입자의 제조)

  • Amphiphilic PCZ-r-PEG random copolymer assisted solvothermal process is used to prepare mesoporous $TiO_2$ microspheres generated from nanoparticles by self-assembly method. Synthesized PCZ-r-PEG is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The mesoporous $TiO_2$ are prepared by PCZ-r-PEG, glucose, water in tertrahydrofuran solution at $150^{\circ}C$ for 12 h and the $TiO_2$ microspheres are calcined at $550^{\circ}C$ for 30 min to further crystallize and organic residue are removed. Morphology and crystallization phase is characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) respectively. The mesoporous $TiO_2$ crystallized in pure anatase phase with diameter of $300{\pm}20nm$.

  • 2-Biphenylyl acrylate (BPA) was synthesized by the reaction of 2-phenylphenol as a microbicide with acryloyl chloride, and copolymers with the moiety of 2-phenylphenol were prepared by the radical terpolymerization of BPA-methylmethacrylate-acrylic acid. The contents of BPA unit in the poly mers were found to be 4.2 mol% and 9.1 mol% from their nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. The number average molecular weights of the polymers were in the range of 15000 to 16000. 2-Phenylphenol was released through the hydrolysis of the polymers. The release rate of the microbicide increased with increasing pH of the release medium. The released solution showed higher microbicidal activity for E. coli as a negative microbe than S. aureus as a positive microbe.

  • The salicylic acid-formaldehyde condensed copolymer (SAF) and the 3-carboxy-4-hydroxy benzyl methacrylate divinylbenzene copolymer (CHBM-DVB) were synthesized. The capacities of SAF and CHBM-DVB ion exchangers were 4.6meq/g and 3.9 meq/g, respectively. The adsorption of several heavy metal ions on these weakly acidic ion exchangers and the property of ion exchanger were discussed. The distribution coefficients in hydrochloric acid solution and the elution behavior of several heavy metal ions were also discussed.

  • This study investigates the rheological properties of in-situ polymerized solutions of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and acrylonitrile(AN) -itaconic acid(IA) in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) in terms of temperature, concentration, and time. The complex viscosity and storage modulus of the solutions were generally increased with elapsing time, which is ascribable to the three-dimensional pseudostructures formed by strong inter- or Intra-molecular attractions through Polar -CN and -COOH groups. The three-dimensional pseudonetworks would lead to relation of the acrylic solutions in long term. This was more noticeable at higher temperature within the temperature range examined. In the case of 20% solutions one can not observe lower Newtonian flow region in the viscosity curve. Disappearance of lower Newtonian flow region is indicative of heterogeneity of the solution system. Casson Plot of the viscosity data revealed that 20% solutions of PAN and AN-IA copolymer in DMSO clearly demonstrated positive yield stress, ascertaining formation of pseudostructures in the solution systems.
