Rheological and Debinding Properties of Al2O3/Paraffin Wax/High Density Polyethylen System Mixture by Injection Molding (사출성형에 의한 Al2O3/Paraffin Wax/High Density Polyethylen계 혼합물의 유동성 및 탈지 특성)

  • The effects of compositions of binders on the rheological properties of mixtures and the preparation conditions on the formation of defects and the debinding characteristics of compacts for the injection molding of ceramic powders (65 wt% aluminaㆍ35 wt% feldspar) were studied. Ceramic powders were coated with 2 wt% of stearic acid and then mixed with 15, 20, and 25 wt% of Paraffin Wax (PW) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as binders at $160^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Rheological properties were investigated by using capillary rheometer. Apparent viscosities of mixtures were 80∼300 Paㆍs at 1,000$s^{-1}$ of a shear rate, it was good for the injection molding and depending on the compositions of binders. Short shot was formed at 15H5P5 (the ratio of HDPE : PW=5 : 5 in 15 wt% of binders) compacts without injection pressures and any noticeable defects were not formed at 45 kgf/$cm^{2}$ in 20H5P5 compacts. PW and HDPE were removed by the solvent extraction and thermal debinding method. Thermal debinding of HDPE at $450^{\circ}C$ for 5 h, which followed the extraction of PW was using n-heptane solvent at $70^{\circ}C$ for 5 h. Continuous pores in compacts, which facilitate the removal of HDPE by the thermal debinding, were found to form in the compacts when PW was removed by the solvent extraction. The optimum composition of binder at which binder was removed by thermal debinding without defects while maintaining the compact strength was 20H5P5. Bulk density, porosity and 3-point bending strength of 20H5P5 compact sintered at 1,30$0^{\circ}C$ for 5 h were 2.8, < 3%, and 2,400 kgf/$cm^{2}$, respectively, and can be used as a structural materials.

A study for detection of melt flow zone about polyethylene butt fusion joints (폴리에틸렌 배관 버트융착부 열용융거리 측정에 대한 연구)

  • Polyethylene pipes has useful benefits which are anti-corrosive and flexible material, so it is used to gas pipes but also class 3 water pipes of nuclear power plant, process pipes of petrochemical plant and chemical plant. So the usage of polyethylene pipes is widely increased. But it has been limited for the usage of polyethylene, because it can not be directly detected to fusion joints by using non destructive evaluation. Polyethylene pipes are connected by two methods, one is butt fusion and the other is electrofusion. Butt fusion is widely used to connecting the pipes. It is proposed to method for determining the reliability of joints in this study that is detection of the melt flow zone at fusion joints. In this study, middle density polyethylene is used, outside diameter of the test specimen is 225mm and thickness is 20.5mm. Speed of ultrasonic of this test specimen is 2,200m/s. Test specimens were fabricated by varying the heating time which means from 0% to 130% applying time through heating plate to polyethylene for detecting melt flow zone. Also 4 additional test specimens were made, one was made that not scrapping attached surface of pipes but applying 100% of the proper heating time and the others were made to include of soil, gravel and vinly tape paper at fusion joints, that were also applied 100% of proper heating time. Ultrasonic testing to measure the melt flow zone of 20 test specimens was conducted by using 3.5MHz and 5.0MHz ultrasonic probes and melt flow zone measuring was conducted to three times at different point to one specimen. To differentiate the melt flow zone signal, post image processing was equally conducted to all test results and image levels, contrast, sharpen, threshold were adopted to all teat results and the test results were displayed gray scale. From the results, for the shorter heating times the reflection area of multiple echo have been increased, so the data was obtained from the position where it can be eliminated as much as possible. At 80% of proper heating time(168 sec.), the signal of melt flow zone was obtained clearly, so measuring could be conducted. From 7% of proper heating time(15 sec.) to shorter heating times. we could not obtain the signal because test specimen was not fused. From the result, we can verify that measuring of melt flow zone by using phased array ultrasonic imaging method is possible. And we can verify to complete and incomplete butt fusion by measuring the melt flow zone.

A Study of Hydrodynamics and Reaction Characteristics in Relation to the Desulfurization Temperatures of Zn-Based Solid Sorbent in the Lab-scale High Pressure and High Temperature Desulfurization Process (실험실규모 고온고압건식탈황공정의 수력학적 특성 및 탈황온도에 따른 아연계 탈황제의 반응특성 연구)

  • In this study, hydrodynamics such as solid circulation rate and voidage in the desulfurizer and the reaction characteristics of Zn-based solid sorbents were investigated using lab-scale high pressure and high temperature desulfurization process. The continuous HGD (Hot Gas Desulfurization) process consist of a fast fluidized bed type desulfurizer (6.2 m tall pipe of 0.015 m i.d), a bubbling fluidized bed type regenerator (1.6 m tall bed of 0.053 m i.d), a loop-seal and the pressure control valves. The solid circulation rate was measured by varying the slide-gate opening positions, the gas velocities and temperatures of the desulfurizer and the voidage in the desulfurizer was derived by the same way. At the same gas velocities and the same opening positions of the slide gate, the solid circulation rate, which was similar at the temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$, was low at those temperatures compared with a room temperature. The voidage in the desulfurizer showed a fast fluidized bed type when the opening positions of the slide gate were 10~20% while that showed a turbulent fluidized bed type when those of slide gate were 30~40%. The reaction characteristics of Zn-based solid sorbent were investigated by different desulfurization temperatures at 20 atm in the continuous operation. The $H_2S$ removal efficiency tended to decrease below the desulfurization temperature of $450^{\circ}C$. Thus, the 10 hour continuous operation has been performed at the desulfurization temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ in order to maintain the high $H_2S$ removal efficiency. During 10 hour continuous operation, the $H_2S$ removal efficiency was above 99.99% because the $H_2S$ concentration after desulfurization was not detected at the inlet $H_2S$ concentration of 5,000 ppmv condition using UV analyzers (Radas2) and the detector tube (GASTEC) which lower detection limit is 1 ppmv.

  • The high fuel flexibility of Micro Gas Turbine(MGT) has boosted their use in a wide variety of applications. Recently, the demand for biogas generated from the digestion of organic wastes and landfill as a fuel for gas turbines has increased. We researched the influence of firing landfill gas(LFG) on the performance and operating characteristics of a micro gas turbine combined heat and power system. $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ simultaneous recovery process has been developed for field plant scale to provide an isothermal, low operating cost method for carrying out the contaminants removal in Land Fill Gas(LFG) by liquid phase catalyst for introduce into the green house for the purpose of $CO_2$ rich cultivation of the plants. Methane purification and carbon dioxide stripping by muti panel autocirculation bubble lift column reactor utilizing Fe-EDTA was conducted for evaluate optimum conditions for land fill gas. Based on inflow rate of LFG as 0.207 $m^3$/min, 5.5 kg/$cm^2$, we designed reactor system for 70% $CH_4$ and 27% $CO_2$ gas introduce into MGT system with $H_2S$ 99% removal efficiency. A green house designed for four different carbon dioxide concentration from ambient air to 1500 ppm by utilizing the exhaust gas and hot water from MGT system.

An Experiment Study on Manufacturing process of BIPV Module (BIPV모듈의 제조공정에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the correlation between temperature and the gel-content of the module were analyzed through experiments. Amorphous thin-film solar cell used in this experiment has a visible light transmission performance of 10%. In addition, ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) film and the clear glass have been used for the modulation. The most important process is to laminate the module in the manufacturing process of BIPV(Building integrated photovoltaic) module. Setting parameters of laminator in the lamination process are temperature, pressure and time. Setting conditions significantly affect the durability, watertightness and airtightness of module. The most important factor in the setting parameters is temperature to satisfy the gel-contents. The bottom and top surface temperature of module are measured according to setting temperature of laminator. The results showed $145^{\circ}C$ of max temperature of the bottom surface and $128^{\circ}C$ of max temperature of top surface on the module at the temperature condition of $160^{\circ}C$. And at the another temperature condition of laminator with $150^{\circ}C$, the max temperature do bottom and top are $117^{\circ}C$ and $134^{\circ}C$ respectively. The temperature difference between bottom and top of the module occurred, that is because heat has been blocked by the clear glass and the bottom of the cells absorb the heat from the laminator. In this particular, the temperature difference between setting temperature of the laminator and the surface temperature of the module showed $15^{\circ}C$, because the heat of laminator plate is transferred to the surface of the module and heat is lost at this time. As a results, gel-content showed 94.8%, 88.7% and 81.7% respectively according to the setting temperature $155^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$ and $145^{\circ}C$ of the laminator. In conclusion, the surface temperature of module increases, the gel-contents is relatively increased. But if the laminator plate temperature is too high, the gel-content shows rather decline in performance. Furthermore, the temperature difference between setting temperature and the surface temperature of the module is affected by laminating machine itself and the temperature of module should be considered when setting the laminator.

Quality Properties of Conger Eel (Conger myriaster) Oils Extracted by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and Conventional Methods (초임계 이산화탄소 및 유기용매를 이용하여 추출된 붕장어(Conger myriaster) 오일의 품질특성)

  • In this study, the extraction of Conger myriaster oil by using supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) and organic solvent was investigated. The extraction conditions conducted for SC-CO2 varied for pressure (25, 30 MPa) and temperature (45, 55 ℃), while the SC-CO2 flow rate was kept constant during the experiment (27 g min-1) and hexane was used as a conventional organic solvent. The extraction yield indicated that the best extraction condition would be SC-CO2 at 55 ℃ and 30 MPa, resulting in the highest yield of 37.73 ± 0.14%. The oils were characterized for their fatty acid (FAs) composition using gas chromatography, while it was revealed that the major FAs were mystric acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, electroosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The oxidation stability of the extracted C. myriaster oil was evaluated by measuring the acid value, peroxide value, and free fatty acid. The best oxidative stability was obtained from SC-CO2 extracted oil at 30 MPa and 55 ℃. There was a significant difference in the color properties of the SC-CO2 and hexane extracted oils, with the SC-CO2 extracted oil showing better chromaticity than the oil extracted using hexane. Extracting oils from C. myriaster with SC-CO2 could bring better economic benefits than using organic solvents. When supercritical carbon dioxide was used, there was no post-treatment process; thus, it was confirmed that this is a more environmentally friendly oil extraction method.

Fabrication of Vertically Oriented ZnO Micro-crystals array embedded in Polymeric matrix for Flexible Device (수열합성을 이용한 ZnO 마이크로 구조의 성장 및 전사)

  • Recently, there has been substantial interest in flexible and wearable devices whose properties and performances are close to conventional devices on hard substrates. Despite the advancement on flexible devices with organic semiconductors or carbon nanotube films, their performances are limited by the carrier scattering at the molecular to molecular or nanotube-to-nanotube junctions. Here in this study, we demonstrate on the vertical semiconductor crystal array embedded in flexible polymer matrix. Such structures can relieve the strain effectively, thereby accommodating large flexural deformation. To achieve such structure, we first established a low-temperature solution-phase synthesis of single crystalline 3D architectures consisting of epitaxially grown ZnO constituent crystals by position and growth direction controlled growth strategy. The ZnO vertical crystal array was integrated into a piece of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate, which was then mechanically detached from the hard substrate to achieve the freestanding ZnO-polymer composite. In addition, the characteristics of transferred ZnO were confirmed by additional structural and photoluminescent measurements. The ZnO vertical crystal array embedded in PDMS was further employed as pressure sensor that exhibited an active response to the external pressure, by piezoelectric effect of ZnO crystal.

Study on Dissolution Condition of Monsanto Catalyst (몬산토 촉매의 용해방법에 관한 연구)

  • Dissolution procedures of Monsanto catalyst which has been used to produce acrylronitrile by ammoxidation of propylene have been studied. Optimum dissolution condition of the catalyst supported on silica was obtained by microwave digestion system with mixed of HCl, HF and $H_2O_2$. When a safety device was activated by increased pressure in microwave vessel, Bi, Fe, Mo, Sb and U were not volatilized even though silica was volatilized as $SiF_4$. Quantification results by this method were $SiO_2$ $50.5{\pm}0.4%$, $Sb_2O_3$ $29.6{\pm}0.6%$, $UO_2$ $10.2{\pm}0.1%$, $Fe_2O_3$ $6.1{\pm}0.1%$, $MoO_3$ $0.73{\pm}0.01%$ and $Bi_2O_3$ $0.49{\pm}0.01%$ by ICP-AES and the relative error was within ${\pm}10%$ except bismuth.

마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용하여 증착한 Sn doped IZO 박막의 열전 특성

  • 최근 세계적으로 대체 에너지는 중요한 이슈가 되고 있으며 그 중 열전 재료는 유망한 에너지 기술로서 주목 받고 있다. 특히 고 직접화 전자 소자의 발열 문제를 해결하기 위해, 소형화와 정밀 온도 제어가 가능한 박막형 열전 소자에 연구가 주목 받고 있다. 박막형 열전소자 중 산화물 반도체계에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 이러한 산화물 반도체계 중 In2O3는 BiTe, PbTe 등의 기존의 재료에 비해 독성이 낮을 뿐만 아니라 내 산화성 및 고온에서 열적 안정성이 우수하여 고온에서 적용 불가능한 금속계 열전 재료의 한계를 극복 할 수 있다는 장점을 가진다. 우수한 성능 가장 낮은 캐리어 밀도를 가지기 때문에 의 열전 재료는 높은 전기 전도도 및 제백 계수 그리고 낮은 열전도도 특성을 가져야만 한다. IZO:Sn(Zn 10 wt.%, Sn 800 ppm) 박막의 경우, 높은 전기 전도성을 가지면서 비정질 구조를 가진다. 이와 같이 비정질 구조를 가지는 박막 열전 재료는 격자에 의한 열 전도도가 낮기 때문에 결정질 구조에 비해 전체 열 전도도 값이 낮을 것으로 기대된다. 따라서 높은 전기 전도도를 가지면서 동시에 낮은 열 전도도를 가지게 되어 우수한 열전 특성을 가질 것이라 예상된다. 이러한 특성을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 비정질 구조를 갖는 Zn와 미량의 Sn을 동시에 첨가한 In2O3박막의 전기적 특성및 열전 특성을 관찰하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 magnetron sputtering법으로 IZO:Sn(Zn 10 wt.%, Sn 800 ppm) 타깃을 이용하여 기판 가열없이 DC Power 70 W, 작업 압력 0.7 Pa으로 SiO2 기판 위에 $400{\pm}20nm$ 두께의 박막을 증착하였다. 이러한 공정으로 만들어진 박막은 대기 중 후 열처리를 각각의 200, 300, 400, 500, $600^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 진행하였다. 박막의 미세 구조는 XRD를 통해 관찰하였다. 그리고 박막의 전기적 특성은 Hall effect measurement을 통해 측정하였고, 열전 특성은 Seebeck 상수의 측정을 통하여 평가하였다. XRD 확인 결과 RT에서 증착한 박막과 후 열처리 200, 300, 400, $500^{\circ}C$ 결과 비정질 구조를 보였고, 후열처리 $600^{\circ}C$에서는 결정의 회절 피크를 보였다. 전기적 특성의 경우, 후 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 전기 전도도는 감소한다. 이는 공기중의 산소가 박막에 침투하여 oxygen vacancy를 막아 캐리어 밀도가 감소한것에 기인 된 것으로 판단된다. 열전 특성의 경우 제백상수는 후 열처리 $600^{\circ}C$에서 가장 높은 제백상수를 나타낸다. 제백 상수는 수식에 따라 캐리어 밀도의 -2/3승에 비례하게 된다. 수식에 따라 후 열처리 $600^{\circ}C$에서 가장 낮은 캐리어 밀도를 가지기 때문에 가장 높은 제백 상수를 가지게 된다. 열전 성능 척도인 Power factor는 제백 상수의 제곱과 전기전도도의 곱으로 나타내는데, 후 열처리 $200^{\circ}C$에서 가장 높은 Power factor를 보인다. 이는 캐리어 밀도 감소에 따라 전기 전도도는 감소하였지만 이로 인해 제백상수는 증가하였고, 또한 캐리어 밀도 감소에 따라 이온화 불순물 산란의 감소에 의해 이동도의 증가에 의한 것으로 판단된다. 박막의 경우 기판의 영향으로 인해 열 전도도 측정이 어려워 열전 성능 지수(ZT)를 계산을 할 수 없지만, 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 증착한 IZO:Sn 박막은 비정질 구조를 가지므로 격자진동에 의한 열 전도도가 낮아 전체 열 전도도가 결정질에 비해 낮을 것이며 이는 높은 열전 성능 지수를 가질 것으로 예상된다.

EMF (electromagnetic field strength)가 스퍼터된 ITO 박막의 초기 성장에 미치는 영향

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO)는 넓은 밴드갭을 가지는 n-type의 축퇴 반도체로 태양전지, 스마트윈도우, 터치 센서, organic light emitting displays (OLEDs) 등에 널리 적용된다. 최근 touch screen panels (TSPs)의 높은 전기적 특성 및 고해상도 요구에 따라 고품질 ITO 박막개발의 수요도 증가하는 추세이다. 지금까지 ITO 박막의 물성 및 기계적 특성에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔지만 ITO 초박막 에서의 근본적인 물성 변화에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이므로, 이러한 연구는 필수적이라 할 수 있다. ITO 초박막은 광학적 특성은 우수하나, 낮은 결정성으로 인해 전기적 특성이 나쁘다는 단점을 가지며, 이러한 ITO 박막의 결정성은 초기 박막 성장과정에 많은 영향을 받는다. ITO 박막의 초기성장과정은 핵이 생성된 후(nucleation), 각각의 위치에서 성장하게 되고(growth), 합쳐지면서(coalescence) 연속적인 막을 형성 하는데(continuous), 이러한 초기 박막 성장 과정 중에 핵 생성 밀도를 증가시키고 박막이 연속적으로 되는 두께를 감소시킨다면, 더욱 더 고품질의 ITO 초박막을 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 박막 초기 형성 과정 중 섬들이 합체되는 두께를 최소화시키기 위하여 EMF(electromagnetic field strength) 시스템을 이용하였다. EMF 시스템은 DC 캐소드에 전자석 코일을 장착하여 전자기장을 추가로 부가한 것으로, 이를 이용할 경우 스퍼터 원자가 중성상태로 기판에 도달하는 것이 아니라, 이온화되어 Vp-Vf의 차이로 가속되어 추가적인 에너지를 공급받음으로써 기판표면상에서 확산을 촉진시키므로 박막이 연속적으로 되는 임계 두께를 감소시킬 수 있는 것으로 기대된다. 실험은 실온에서 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용하였으며, 유리기판위에 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20 nm의 두께로 ITO 박막을 제작하였다. 스퍼터링 파워는 150 W (3.29 W/cm3), 작업 압력은 0.13 Pa, 기판과 타깃 사이의 거리는 70 mm였다. 각각의 두께에서 EMF 파워 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 W로 인가하여 박막을 제작한 후, EMF 파워에 따른 ITO 박막의 초기 성장 과정중 표면상태를 AFM (atomic force microscope) 이미지를 통하여 관찰하였다. 또한, 두께 약 8 nm에서와 20 nm일 때의 전기적 특성 및 광학적 특성을 관찰하였으며, 두 박막 모두 EMF 파워 15 W를 인가하였을 때 그 특성이 가장 향상되는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 박막은 초기 성장이 중요하므로, 매우 얇은 두께에서 좋은 특성을 가진 박막을 제작하여야 박막의 두께를 증가시켰을 때도 좋은 특성의 막을 얻을 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, EMF 파워를 증가시킴에 따라 자장강도를 증가시키는 것과 같은 효과 즉, 플라즈마 임피던스가 감소하는 효과를 내어 증착 중 고 에너지 입자 (Ar0, O-)에 의한 박막손상이 감소한 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 적정 EMF 파워 15 W를 인가하였을때 가장 물성이 좋은 ITO 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. 즉, EMF 시스템을 이용하여 저온 공정에서 결함농도가 적은 고품질의 ITO 초박막을 제작할 수 있었다.
