  • A planetary gear trains has characteristics in compactness, power transformation ability and constant meshing. Usability is increased in applications of auto transmission and industrial gearbox. Study on optimum design of planetary gear train has been progressed on minimization of weight, miniaturization of planetary gear train and improvement of high strength. There are demands of study for the planetary gear train required long lift estimation In this wort being considered life, strength, intereference, contact ratio and aspect ratio, the optimum design algorithm is proposed to reduce the volume of planetary gear train with transferring the same amount of power. In the design of algorithm for planetary gear train, the determination of teeth number is separated to achieve simplicity and the simulated annealing method as a global optimal technique is used for optimal design method.

  • In this study, genetic algorithm mixed binary and real encoding is proposed to deal with design variables of various types. And that is applied to optimum design of Multi-stage gear drive. Design of pressure vessel which is mixed discrete and continuous variables is applied to verify reasonableness of proposed genetic algorithm. The proposed genetic algorithm is applied for the gear ratio optimization and the volume minimization of geared motor which is used in field. In result, it shows that the volume has decreased about 8% compared with the existing geared motor.

  • In this paper, an automated design and 3-D modeling system of an axial fan and a boss for cooling towers was developed. API and parametric design Provided by a commercial solid-modeler are engaged to automate modeling process. Design data of the boss are assumed to be given by a user with design experiences while the fan from the fan design program using three-dimensional flow analysis. An algorithm avoiding the interferences between fans and a boss is developed. The design data are registered on the database not only to remove duplicate design but also to transfer the data to ERP system.

  • The geometry in the weight reduction design is very required to be started from the conceptual design with low cost, high performance and quality. In this point, a topological shape fur optimization concerned with conceptual design of structure is important. The method used in this paper combines three optimization techniques, where the shape and physical dimensions of the structure and material distribution are hierachically optimized, with the maximum rigidity of structure and lightweight. As the applications, the technology of weight reduction design is applied on designs of aluminum control arm and inner panel of hood.

고가사다리차의 알루미늄 붐 형상의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for Aluminum Boom Shape in High Ladder Vehicles)

  • An Optimal shape design of the boom system in high ladder vehicles is performed using 3-D finite element method (FEM). Results of structural analyses providing displacements, stresses are implemented for the optimum shape design. Lanzcos algorithm is used for the modal analysis in order to find natural frequencies. The optimal shape including cross sectional thickness and length of the boom system is controlled by the subproblem method besed on displacement and Von Mises stress. It is found that a plenty of materials can be saved by using shape design optimization in high ladder vehicles. It is also found that the natural frequency is increased until 6th mode and maintained similarly or decreased after 6th mode.

  • There are two kinds of the design criteria of piping system in petrochemical plant design. The first is on static state evaluation by thermal growth and the other is on dynamic evaluation by piping vibration. In the static design evaluation, the ASME B31.3 code defines 7000 cycles of fatigue life in operating the piping system with design condition. However, the dynamic design evaluation in comparative with small displacements of high frequencies to static condition has not established clearly the method, yet. So, this study purposes to present the trial of a proposal of dynamic design criterion on the basis of static design method.

  • Design of drawing dies was used In real industrial environments. It was designed by CAD software in many small & medium companies, but many products require various types, and sizes. There(ore many companies are required to reduce process time and design mistakes. In this paper, it was developed the automatic program in order to learn and use easily for design of the drawing dies. It was composed with Visual LISP/DCL language in a commercial CAD package, AutoCAD, and CUI in design system. The system is based in the knowledge base system which is involved a lot of expert's know-how. We have built database of design type and detail sizes. The automatic design system requires basic product type and sizes, and then the system accesses to the database and finds out sizes by comparing with input parameters, after then finally generates drawing dies file.

제로터의 가공 호브의 3차원 형상 자동 생성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Automatic Generation for 3-Dimensional Geometry of Gerotor and its Hob)

  • When designing a gerotor, designers determine basic dimensions of a gerotor with transmitted power considering strength, interference and so. on. But, designers can not easily obtain the tooth profile generated by dimensions as well as the geometry bob for cutting the tooth profile. In order to resolve these problems, an automatic design sys-tem creating not only the solid model of a gerotor but also that of the generating hob using the design parameters of dimen-sions is developed. Through the developed system, designers can improve the efficiency of design and satisfy the variable requirements of design as well. In this research, the three-dimensional solid models for gerotors are generated considering the design parameters. Besides, those for generating hob regarding the design parameters of hob is created automatically.

  • Manufacturing is characterized by increasing product variety and technical complexity, decreasing levels of demand, expanding global competition and declining profitability of organizations. To survive in such a complex environment, development of the automatic design system into design and manufacturing can be introduced to increase the flexibility and adaptability to markets. This paper presents the development of an automatic water-gate design system that composed of a main program and three modules, and was programmed by AutoLISP language under AutoCAD system. The devel-oped system is capable of generating water-gate design automatically according to input data as customer requirement.

연료 전지 냉각판의 최적 설계 (A Study on the Optimization of Fuel-Cell Stack Design)

  • Feul-Cell system consists of fuel reformer, stack and energy translator. Among these parts, stack is a core part which produces electricity directly. In order to set a stack module, fabrication of appropriate stack, design of water flow path in stack and control of coolant are needed. Especially, oater or air is used as a coolant to dissipate heat. The different temperature of each electric cell after cooling affects the performance of the stack. Therefore, it is necessary that the relationship between coolant hearing rate, width of stack, properties of stack, and the shape of water flow path must be understood. For the optimal design, the computational simulation by CFD-ACE has been conducted and the resulting database has been constructed.
