  • Software development activities are influenced by stochastic theory rather than deterministic one due to having process variability. Stochastic methods factor in the uncertainties associated with project activities and provides insight into the expected project outputs as probability distributions rather than as deterministic approximations. Thus, successful software projects systematically manage and balance five objectives based on historical probability: scope, size, cost, effort, schedule, and quality. Although software size estimation having much uncertainty in initial development has traditionally performed using deterministic methods: LOC(Lines Of Code), COCOMO(COnsructive COst MOdel), FP(Function Point), SLIM(Software LIfecycle Management). This research aims to present a function point method based on stochastic distribution and a case study based on Monte Carlo Simulation applying on an automotive electrical and electronics system software development. It is expected that the result of this paper is used as guidance for establishing of function point method in organizations and tools for helping project managers make decisions correctly.

  • Aircraft defects are important matters directly related to the operation of the aircraft and the life of the pilot. The defects in the mission software that occur during aircraft control seriously affect the pilot's mission performance and safety. Therefore, the organization in charge of aircraft development or software defects are reinforced in the process to identify and eliminate defects in the early stages of development, and a lot of labor and time are spent, but due to the nature of the mission software, strong functional coupling with other avionics and high complexity, so there are restrictions on the identification and removal of software defects through the existing test method. This study analyzes the effect of securing mission software integrity and reducing test cost through data integrity verification by developing a tool that automates the verification of expected value of feedback data among communication data of mission computer interlocking equipment.

  • In shipbuilding industry, there is conducting most of works by welding at the shipyard, and the volume of welding is increasing with international trends of green ships. Welding joint is guaranteed quality through non-destructive testing (NDT). The manual welding inspection report is produced by identifying the drawings designed, which results in losses the many workforce and occurs human errors. To solve these problems, this paper covers a system that reports on inspection information is automatically generation by input data based on shipbuilding-specific CAD. The developed system analyzes the shape data from drawings of modeling. Also, the system determines welding joints through expansion of the part boundary and generates tag numbers. In addition, it provides the function to automatically extract the information needed for inspection such as weld length, thickness and etc. We conducted test to verify the usefulness of the developed system and confirmed that the welding inspection information extracted through system matches the information shown in drawings of modeling.

  • In this study, a model was developed to predict the peak particle velocity (PPV) that affects people and the surrounding environment during blasting. Four machine learning models using the k-nearest neighbors (kNN), classification and regression tree (CART), support vector regression (SVR), and particle swarm optimization (PSO)-SVR algorithms were developed and compared with each other to predict the PPV. Mt. Yogmang located in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do was selected as a study area, and 1048 blasting data were acquired to train the machine learning models. The blasting data consisted of hole length, burden, spacing, maximum charge per delay, powder factor, number of holes, ratio of emulsion, monitoring distance and PPV. To evaluate the performance of the trained models, the mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), and root mean square error (RMSE) were used. The PSO-SVR model showed superior performance with MAE, MSE and RMSE of 0.0348, 0.0021 and 0.0458, respectively. Finally, a method was proposed to predict the degree of influence on the surrounding environment using the developed machine learning models.

  • The software development cost appraisal is treated as a part of the program completion appraisal, and the software engineering methodology is applied. In particular, software cost estimation techniques have been actively applied. For more information about the software development costs calculation, we can refer to the "SW cost estimation guide". Although successful appraisal of a number of development costs based on the guide has been processed, but a number of cases requiring discussion of appraisal results have been discovered. In this study, we propose a use case-based size estimation method to maintain the accuracy and consistency of size estimation. As a result of performing performance evaluation of the proposed method in an environment similar to the development cost appraisal case, it was proved that the accuracy was improved over the existing function points method.

  • In this paper, in order to improve production processing for small and medium-sized precision processing companies, we apply a manufacturing execution system to existing process methods and integrate precision processing data to strengthen process management within the company, increase facility operation efficiency, and realize a reduction in defect rates. The differences in productivity improvement and cost reduction rates were compared and analyzed. As a result, production productivity improved by 7.0% and product defect rate improved by 0.1% point due to the introduction of the manufacturing execution system. It was confirmed that manufacturing cost reduction improved by 10.0% and delivery compliance rate improved by 1.1%. If additional smart factory technology is applied based on the manufacturing execution system proposed in this study in the future, sales and profits in the processing industry are expected to increase due to an increase in the PQCD index.

  • In this paper, we propose the standard architecture for the IFF interface SW in naval combat management system(CMS). The proposed standard interface architecture is a method designed to reduce modification efforts and man-month of reliability test for the existing the IFF interface SW of 11 types. We identified highly dependent CMS and GFE information, leading to the redefinition of standard requirements and functions, and proceeded with the initial design applying the Naval Shield Component Platform(NSCP). Subsequently, using the Feature Model, we derived additional common and variable elements for the interface of multiple CMS and GFE. Considering the S.O.L.I.D principles, we designed the final architecture. The proposed IFF Interface SW, based on the standard architecture, is expected to enhance management efficiency through a common architecture, increase code reusability and scalability, and reduce development costs by shortening reliability testing times.

  • The IISS(Integrated Interface Storage System) software performs the function of transmitting tactical domain messages of Combat Management System for interface analysis of Naval Combat System. The source code is relatively large because the IISS software handles most messages. The modifications of source code of the IISS software occur frequently due to changes in interconnected equipment and messages. Therefore, additional effort and cost are required during the development process. In this paper, we studied standardization of the IISS software to improve reusability. Through the feature model, the components of the IISS software were divided by function and modification elements were separated. And the structure of the IISS software was improved by applying design patterns. As a result, it was possible to minimize modifications of the IISS software by changes in interconnected equipment and messages and a reduction in development costs could be expected.

  • Macroscopic visualization of non-evaporating sprays was experimentally conducted to investigate spray tip penetration and spray angle under low-density conditions, corresponding to an early injection strategy. Furthermore, injectors with varying injection angles (146° and 70°) and numbers of holes (8 and 14) were employed to examine the impact of injector configuration. Compared to the baseline injector, 8H146, which has 8 holes and a 146° injection angle, the spray tip penetration of the 8H70 injector was found to be longer. This can be attributed to higher momentum due to a smooth flow field between the sac volume and the nozzle inlet, which is located closer to the injector tip centerline. The increase in velocity led to intense turbulence generation, resulting in a wider spray angle. Conversely, the spray tip penetration of the 14H70 injector was shorter than that of the 8H70 injector. The competition between increased velocity and decreased nozzle diameter influenced the spray tip penetration for the 14H70 injector; the increase in momentum, previously observed for the 8H70 injector, contributed to an increase in spray tip penetration, but a decrease in nozzle diameter could lead to a reduction in spray tip penetration. The spray angle for the 14H70 injector was similar to that of the 8H146 injector. Moreover, injection rate measurements revealed that the slope for a narrow injection angle (70°) was steeper than that for a wider injection angle during the injection event.
